Facebook At Work Reportedly Coming In January

We recently learned that Facebook is testing a product called Facebook At Work, which would compete with the likes of LinkedIn, Google Drive, Microsoft Office, and Yammer, to name a few.

This was actually first discussed back in June by TechCrunch, but for some reason it mostly flew under the radar of the tech blogosphere. Talk was re-ignited last week by a report from The Financial Times, which said the company has engineers in the UK working on the project, and that it was already being tested with some companies.

According to a report from The Wall Street Journal (via AllFacebook), the company intends to launch Facebook at Work as soon as January. The publication cites a person briefed on the matter.

That report says the product will be free of charge and without ads at first, but that it will only be available to companies that sign up.

Based on previous reports, the product will essentially just be a professional version of Facebook that will enable individuals to keep their persona profiles and work profiles separate. They’ll also be able to take advantage of productivity and professional networking features.
