Emma Watson Speaks Out on Pressure to be Beautiful

Emma Watson has spoken out against the fashion industry and calls the pressure it places on young women ‘dangerously unhealthy.’

The Harry Potter actress told Sunday Times Style magazine that she feels pressure to look great but is coming to terms with her own limitations.

“As a younger woman, that pressure got me down but I’ve made my peace with it. With airbrushing and digital manipulation, fashion can project an unobtainable image that’s dangerously unhealthy I can take criticism on the chin a lot more,” said Watson.

The 23-year-old claims she finds women who aren’t perfect much more interesting and captivating.

“I’m excited about the ageing process. I’m more interested in women who aren’t perfect. They’re more compelling,” she explained.

That does not mean Watson will just let herself go. At the New York premier of Noah, she wore a beautiful Oscar de la Renta dress, and tweeted her look.

And it’s obvious the Noah star loves fashion and the goodies that the fashion industry promotes.

No doubt she loves beautiful things and looking her best. Like most women, she relies on her friends to give her fashion advice, rather than relying on a stylist.

“I love showing them images and asking, ‘What do you think of this dress?’ I call on my boyfriends for advice all the time – ‘I mean friends who are boys, and my girlfriends,’” she said.

If recent tweets elude to anything, it’s that the young actress is very occupied with fashion and her looks.
