David Arquette Talks Children and Strange Baby Names

David Arquette has a niche for acting, but selecting baby names may not be one of his strong points!

According to the Associated Press, he definitely opted for a typical celebrity baby name – that’s relatively strange. The Scream series star, who is expecting his second child with his girlfriend TV personality Christina McLarty, revealed that he liked the name Astro.

“I did want to name him Astro,” Arquette said in a recent interview when asked about the new baby due in May. The 42-year-old actor truly thought the name “Astro Arquette” was quite amazing. However, McLarty isn’t having it. He explained that the idea just “didn’t fly” with her and she immediately nixed the name before it was even considered as one of their top picks.

He went on to share that his 10-year-old daughter Coco, whom he had with his ex-wife Courteney Cox, is quite exciting about the idea of becoming a big sister. He even quipped that his daughter insists the baby “absolutely worships” her.

“Coco loves acting herself and she loves the fact that we do what we do,” Arquette said of his daughter. “So, I think she’s pretty much exactly how all of us on my side of the family were raised — in it essentially.”

He also gushed about his daughter already looking forward to following in the footsteps of her parents with a potential career in the entertainment industry.

“Coco loves acting herself and she loves the fact that we do what we do,” Arquette said. He also pointed out that his daughter has a deep admiration for music as she loves to sing as well.  “So, I think she’s pretty much exactly how all of us on my side of the family were raised — in it essentially.”

Arquette’s sister, Emmy Award-winning actress Patricia Arquette, has also spoken of the family’s lineage in the film industry as their father, mother and grandparents also had successful acting careers. The Little Nicky actress recounted their childhood, which was filled with “fantasy, role-playing, emotional games.”

“I guess we were sort of spoon fed of that creative aspect of ourselves,” she said.
