Christine McVie Officially Rejoins Fleetwood Mac, Sets North American Tour

After she performed with them briefly last year, Christine McVie will officially be a member of Fleetwood Mac again. The original band is finally reunited after many years without one of their founding members.

Christine McVie left the famous group 15 years ago, and will finally be able to go on a full tour with them again. The classic-era lineup will launch the 34-date/33-city tour in September, and it will be billed as the “On With Show Tour.”

It was revealed that the group’s former keyboardist/singer would be rejoining months ago, but this is the first news of an official tour that would feature her along for the ride with her former band.

It will be the first time that McVie has been on tour with Fleetwood Mac since 1998, during a tour in promotion of their album “The Dance.” In addition to McVie being a part of the group again, the full lineup includes Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, and Stevie Nicks, the most well-known of the group.

Fleetwood Mac announced their first tour with Christine McVie back in the band on NBC’s The Today Show on Thursday morning. The tour will begin in Minneapolis on Sept. 30 before hitting most major markets through the end of the year. They are set to play at The Today Show on October 9th, and will hit Madison Square Garden on October 6th.

The band is glad to have one of their founding members back, and as Stevie Nicks said on the show, “She had us all seriously convinced that she would never come back.”

Chrstine McVie finally revealed her reason for leaving the band during the interview as well, and as something that may seem odd to many people, she said it was due to her fear of flying, and she had not flown in 15 years.

While the announcement of their 2014 tour was not announced until now, it had been rumored that she was rejoining after she got back together with the band for one song in September of 2013 to sing “Don’t Stop,” which was done in a performance in London. Following that, she declared that she wanted to return to Fleetwood Mac in November.

Since Christine McVie left the group in 1998, Fleetwood Mac has only released one studio album, “Say You Will.” She was responsible for writing hit songs such as “Don’t Stop,” “Say You Love Me,” “Little Lies,” “Hold Me,” and “You Make Loving Fun.”

Tickets for the upcoming tour with Fleetwood Mac and Christine McVie will go on sale on March 31. Since it has been 15 years since the group has performed in the original lineup, tickets will likely go fast, and those that want to make sure they see them live should get tickets as soon as possible.
