Christina Hendricks Won’t Be Joining “Game Of Thrones”

Christina Hendricks may be best known for her role as Joan Harris on the AMC hit Mad Men, but she has a pretty varied resume; the 38-year old also starred in the Joss Whedon vehicle Firefly and in the Ryan Gosling film Drive, as well as on various television shows. One show she won’t be joining, however, is Game Of Thrones, despite rumors to the contrary.

Hendricks told Conan last week that the rumor got started because she simply answered an interview question of “What show would be fun to do?” with “Game of Thrones”, mostly because of the period costumes because, as she admits, she’s never even seen the show.

“I thought it would be fun to get into that whole time period and the crazy costumes, and the next thing I know, everyone was like, “Christina wants to do Game of Thrones!” she said.

Hendricks made headlines this week with an interview she did for Health Magazine in which she says she and her husband don’t want to have children. The actress says people seem shocked when they ask about it and she admits she’s not interested.

“We’ve decided that we are not really interested in having children,” she said. “It seems like it’s expected that you’d want to have kids. It’s just very normal for people to say, ‘Well, when you guys have kids…’ And then when I say, ‘Actually I don’t think we’re going to do that,’ people will say, ‘Oh, you say that now…’. It doesn’t bother me, though. And, you know, there’s a small chance I could change my mind.”

Hendricks has several projects lined up, including How To Catch A Monster–which will reunite her with Ryan Gosling–and Disney’s The Pirate Fairy, to which she lends her voice talents.
