Christina Hendricks says she and her husband Geoffrey Arend don’t want any children. Married since 2009 to the Body of Proof star, Hendricks covers the May issue of Health magazine and explains their feelings within its pages.
“We’ve decided that we are not really interested in having children,” the Mad Men star said in the interview with Health. “It seems like it’s expected that you’d want to have kids.”
“It’s just very normal for people to say, ‘Well, when you guys have kids…’ And then when I say, ‘Actually I don’t think we’re going to do that,’ people will say, ‘Oh, you say that now…’” Hendricks shares. “It doesn’t bother me, though. And, you know, there’s a small chance I could change my mind.”
Christina Hendricks says she’s busy at the moment playing ‘Mom’ to the couple’s new puppy.
“We got a puppy, and that’s my idea of starting a family,” Hendricks said during her interview. “People say, ‘Oh, that’s practice for parenting,’ but if it’s practice for anything it’s to be a mom to another puppy.”
Hendricks returned to TV this past Sunday when the final season of Mad Men premiered. She will soon appear on the big screen as well. She is set to star in How to Catch a Monster opposite Ryan Gosling and in A Book of Common Prayer with Allison Janney.

Christina Hendricks is also well known for her voluptuous curves that are sometimes called ‘traffic stopping.’ She explained to Conan O’Brien on Monday evening that one guy who was staring far more intently at her than at the road hit the curb and flew off his bicycle recently. There was no denying she is used to having guys stare.
Hendricks also talked with Conan about the rumor about her possibly joining the cast of Game of Thrones. She assured the host that there was no truth behind the rumor–but admits she may have inadvertently started it herself.
While there may not be any children in Christina Hendricks’ future, her life will certainly be a full one. Kudos to her and her husband for making a conscientious decision and for not making any excuses for not wanting to have kids. Not everyone is cut out for parenthood and some simply don’t want to change their lifestyles. For whichever reason they have chosen, good for them for realizing what they believe works best in their lives.
