For the longest time, Nyko has been in the after market video game accessory business. It’s biggest contribution was the Xbox 360 intercooler that helped to keep the original hardware a bit cooler than its original fan could. Now the company is at CES with a new line of accessories for that brand new PlayStation 4 you bought back in November.
At CES, Nyko announced that it’s bringing its range of usual products to the PlayStation 4 later this year. The accessories range from cooling solutions to extended battery life accessories. In short, there’s probably something for anybody interested in after market game console solutions.
First up is the Intercooler for the PS4 – a small fan that you can attach to the back of the console to help keep it cool. While Sony designed the PS4 to dissipate heat away from components, it can still get a little too warm after extended play sessions. The Intercooler is designed to keep the PlayStation 4 cool over longer periods of time. It will be available later this year for $25.
In other PS4 accessory news, Nyko also unveiled the PowerPak for the DualShock 4 controller. It’s a small 1,000 mAh battery add-on for the DualShock 4 that Nyko claims adds hours onto the controller’s admittedly poor battery life. The battery pack can be charged through the regular micro-USB charger that came with the PS4 so you won’t need any other accessories. It will be available later this year for $20.
As for the PlayStation Vita, Nyko is upgrading its well-received Power Grip accessory to accommodate the slimmer PS Vita 2000. The new Power Grip has been slimmed down to match the new Vita redesign while still adding twice the battery life to the system. It will be available later this year for $20.
On a final note, those who don’t care about game console accessories will be pleased to know that Nyko also has a wireless charger for mobile devices in the works. Those who have a Qi-enabled phone will be able to wirelessly charge their devices using the Nyko Power Base. It supports the Galaxy S4 and Nexus 5 out of the box, but Nyko says it should work with any Qi-enabled device. It will be available in the spring for $40.
