Caught On Camera: Delaware Attack Suspects Arrested

The brutal caught on camera attack of a mentally disabled man in Delaware that went viral has finally led to two arrests over the weekend.

A 13-year-old boy and 14-year-old boy, both from Newark, Delaware were taken to the New Castle County Police Headquarters on Saturday and charged with offensive touching, assault of a vulnerable adult and conspiracy.

They were both arraigned and released on $2500 bond.

The attacks happened several weeks ago, but the release of the video and its viral spread helped lead to the arrest of the two teens.

The video is disturbing in its brutality. It shows a teenager chasing after the man in front of an building. The mentally challenged man runs away from the teen and asks for him to leave him alone.

But to no avail. The teen then grabs the man and body slams him to the ground as he screams, then the boy punches and kicks him in the head as his friends are heard laughing in the background of the video.

Unfortunately, this kind of thing is becoming a little more common these days.

Angeliz Marrero, a 16-year-old student, reposted the videos on her Instagram page and used the hashtag #TheBullyProject. The response was inspiring, with over 50,000 posts on social media about this attack as well as others.

“I want something to be done to those kids so they know that’s not okay and justice to be served for this man,” Marrero said.

The campaign is personal for her. She has a mentally challenged brother who was also beaten up a few years ago.

She said of the victim of the caught on camera attack in Delaware, “He loves music and is very kind and is completely harmless. He loves to be out of the house just being active walking around.”

Hopefully, justice can be served and the nation will be more aware of such incidents.
