Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie Not Adopting from Syria

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have been a hot topic on the rumor mill this past week, and while it’s certainly nothing scandalous that’s been reported, it’s completely untrue. Multiple outlets have said the couple is adopting a child from Syria–on the heels of Angelina Jolie’s surgery to remove her ovaries. They are not, however.

Multiple sources tell People magazine that no such adoption is in the works–or even on the radar, for that matter.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are already the parents of six children–three of whom they adopted. Sources close to the couple insist that rumors they are expanding their family further via Syrian adoption are “totally false” and “absolutely not true.”

In December, Angelina Jolie said in an interview with People magazine, when asked if she and Brad Pitt planned to have more children, “Not at the moment, no. I don’t imagine so, but something could change tomorrow, so I don’t know.”

Did this benign statement spark rumors of an adoption? It often doesn’t take much for a rumor to spread from one media outlet to the other.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are still relatively young parents–Jolie is 39 and Pitt is 51, however, so ruling out adoption on a permanent basis would be a harsh assumption. According the sources at the moment, however, it truly doesn’t appear to be in the cards.
