Bing announced yesterday that it is integrating more Facebook "likes" into search results, but Blekko, the new kid on the block, is now also providing such data, courtesy of Facebook Connect.
"Now log onto Blekko through Facebook Connect and you’ll be able to see whether or not your friends have ‘Liked’ a particular search result," a Blekko representative tells WebProNews.
"Millions of Facebook users are curating their web experience everyday by simply clicking ‘Like’ on the content, commerce, travel, restaurants and brands they love most," said CEO Rich Skrenta. "We’ve taken this data and applied it to Blekko’s results making them spam-free and personally relevant."
Watch our recent interview with Skrenta, in which he explains why he thinks Blekko can become the "third search engine" behind Google and Bing:
Users will also be able to append ‘/likes’ to any search query and Blekko will only search those sites that have been liked by friends. Pretty cool.
A couple weeks ago, Blekko announced a way for users to do their holiday shopping without having to worry about shopping on an untrustworthy site – a slashtag for trustworthy shopping sites. This may help you if you’ve got some late holiday shopping to get done still.
