Barry Manilow, Neil Diamond, and other music icons came together yesterday to celebrate the birth of the U.S.
Manilow headlined A Capitol Fourth, the yearly national fireworks show held in Washington D.C. each Fourth of July. Joining him for the show were American Idol stars Candice Glover and Scotty McCreery; Glee’s Darren Criss, Jackie Evancho, Megan Hilty, and famed movie music creator John Williams, who conducted music from the movie Lincoln Diamond debuted a song named “Freedom Song (They’ll Never Take Us Down),” which was a tribute to the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings. Dancing With the Stars host Tom Bergeron hosted the event, which was held on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol.
Manilow shared photos of the preparations for the concert, including the thousands of people in attendance. More photos from the show can be seen in a Flickr slideshow put together by Capital Concerts.
