Many people battling cancer say that their ability to live life in a carefree way leaves them entirely as they fight the pain of everyday life with the disease. Finding a reason to laugh or be silly is increasingly difficult as they find themselves waiting for bad news, or more pain, and watching their loved ones start to mourn them.
The Mimi Foundation–a group dedicated to bettering the lives of those living with cancer–aims to change that. Their new project, “If Only For A Second”, asked cancer patients to take part in a unique makeover, during which they had to keep their eyes closed. At the big reveal, a photographer snapped a shot of their shocked faces, and what ensued was genuine laughter that will lighten your heart as much as theirs.
