Ashley Tisdale appeared just days ago in a special celebrating the 10th anniversary of High School Musical. Entertainment Tonight caught up with her ahead of the event, and asked about the possibility of her joining the cast of NBC’s live remake of Hairspray.
Admitting she’s open to the idea, Tisdale–whose High School Musical costar Zac Efron starred in the Hairspray film remake in 2007–also knows doing a live event is significantly different from anything she’s ever done.

“With sitcoms it’s in front of a live audience, but you’re able to go back and, like, redo it if you mess up,” Ashley Tisdale explained, adding that she “couldn’t imagine” how embarrassing it would be if she “messed up” while live on the air.
Though Tisdale did nothing to encourage or deny rumors she’s been asked to join the Hairspray cast, she did tell ET she’s working on some of her own music.
“I have some ideas, but Iām just in the studio kind of feeling out where my voice is,” she said. “Right now I’m just trying to figure out what kind of music I want to do and where I fit in.”
The actress and singer is also busy designing a line of graphic t-shirts for Signorelli. Ashley Tisdale serves as creative director for the company.
“A lot of the stuff is inspired by me and my girlfriends and what we say together,” she said.
Don’t you think Ashley Tisdale would be an excellent choice as one of the many cast members of Hairspray? Her acting, singing, and dancing talents would be put to the test, but undoubtedly she would shine.
