Ariana Grande: Doesn’t Talk To Dad, Still Loves Him

It can be tough for any young adult to come to terms with a strained relationship with their parent or parents. Being in the spotlight can only make the situation that much harder.

But singer-actress Ariana Grande seems to be weathering this emotional storm just fine.

The 21-year-old recently spoke with Seventeen magazine and is featured in the publication’s cover story.

The “Bang Bang” singer mentioned that the toughest personal obstacle she’s had to deal with was falling out of touch with her father.

She wouldn’t go into the exact details regarding the nature of the strained relationship, saying that “it’s private.”

“[The fallout] happened last year,” said Grande. “It took me so long to be okay with it.”

What helped Grande move past the pain of the unfortunate situation?

The starlet told Seventeen, “The thing that got me there was embracing the fact that that I am made up of half my dad, and a lot of my traits come from him.”

It was difficult at first, as Grande said that so much of her came from her father.

“I had to accept that it’s okay not to get along with somebody and still love them.”

Losing her father was hard, and losing her grandfather to cancer recently has been especially difficult for the young star.

Her brother Frankie Grande, who is currently starring on the latest season of CBS’s Big Brother, did not get the news that his grandpa died right away.

It was their grandfather’s final wish that his grandson be able to stay on the popular reality television series.

Meanwhile, sister Ariana Grande is focusing more on her music career these days as her hit Nickelodeon series Sam & Cat was recently cancelled.

Although it’s not certain what costar and non-role model Jennette McCurdy will do with herself, odds are Grande will land on her feet.
