Antivirus Software – AVG For Mac Users Too!

office tech trends

Millions of Mac users can finally get on board with the AVG AntiVrus that was previously designed exclusively for PC users.

Mac seems to always be last on the list – for most major software applications. Although Apple does have some amazing software designed exclusively for the Mac, most PC software is not available for the Mac OS operating system.

AVG Technologies just announced its Mac OS version of the antivirus product, for OS X 10.9 Mavericks and OS X 10.8 Mountain lion operating systems.

And best of all – AVG AntiVirus software is free to download from their website or the Apple Store.

AVG’s David Ferguson, general manager of consumer and mobile, said: “It’s a popular belief that Mac computers are invincible. But, they never were — it’s just been a matter of OS X not reaching the popularity that Windows historically had. Thanks to the advent of iPhones and the iPad, the Mac platform has scaled exponentially, and that fact alone makes it a viable target for attackers.”

The new version of the antivirus for Mac offers technology that can detect malware between Mac, Windows and Android platforms which is a great preventative measure of enabling viruses between other operating systems.

Apple recently reported that, in the fourth quarter of 2013, the company sold 4.6 million Macs, which is slightly less than last year’s same quarter sales of 4.9 million.

The Mac may have taken a slight downturn in the 2013 fourth quarter, but it is still an incredibly popular computer and platform.

With Apple’s new line of MacBook Pros, Mac Pro, and OS X Mavericks – their products are expanding each year.

Most long time Mac users rarely needed to worry about malware or viruses – they were usually designed to infect PC’s – but experts claim that since Apple’s products are becoming more popular, the risks have also become greater.

Unfortunately, if your not running 10.8 or higher, the antivirus software is not compatible with your OS.
