Amazon Dash Replenishment Service Adds 11 New Device Brands

Last year, Amazon announced Amazon Dash as a way for people to add items to their shopping lists from their homes by scanning them with a device or using the device’s microphone to tell it what they need. Then, this past March 31, the company announced the Dash button, which seemed like an April Fool’s joke, mostly because of its timing. But it was no joke.

The Dash Button is just what it sounds like – a button you can push to order more of something when you need it. There are buttons for a growing number of brands and products including Bounty paper towels, Gatorade, SmartWater, Larabars, Gerber formula, Olay beauty products, Clorox wipes, Izze juice, Glad trash bags, Kraft Mac & Cheese, Ice Breakers gum, Orbit gum, Greenies dog treats, Dixie paper cups, etc.

On Thursday, Amazon announced eleven new device partners for its Dash Replenishment Service, which will enable people to restock what they need in even more ways. New partners include: GE, August, Gmate, Obe, Oster, Petnet, CleverPet, Samsung, Sutro, Thync, and Sealed Air.

GE has a new washer with WiFi and an app enabling people to manage laundry with their smartphones. Utilizing Dash Replenishment Service, detergent can be automatically ordered when the supply gets low.

“Washers with our SmartDispense technology store detergent and automatically dispense the right amount for each load so customers don’t have to worry about it—to enhance that experience, we thought Amazon Dash Replenishment Service would be a perfect match,” said Kevin Nolan, Vice President of Technology for GE Appliances. “Customers will be able to set their preferred preorder level and Amazon will deliver detergent in time for the next wash, truly eliminating customer worry.”

August Smart Lock will order replacement batteries, Gmate SMART Blood Glucose Meter will order testing supplies. Products from Obe, Oster, Petnet, and CleverBet will order pet food. Samsung Laser Printers will order toner cartridges, Sutro’s smart pool monitor will order pool chemicals. Thync, which offers a wearable technology designed to “change the way you feel” and let you “de-stress and unwind” or “boost energy” will let you automatically order the strips that it uses to do so. Finally, Sealed Air’s Diversey Care Soft Care connected hand soap dispensers will order new hand soap or sanitizer.

Most people who wish to utilize Amazon’s Dash services will probably elect to get the buttons, especially now that they’re basically free.
