Aaron Hernandez: His Link to 2012 Double Murder

A search warrant released on Wednesday details why Aaron Hernandez, a former New England Patriots player, is considered a suspect in a double murder that took place in 2012. Hernandez is already the main suspect in the murder of Odin Lloyd this past June, and is behind bars awaiting trial.

The warrant states that authorities received an anonymous tip about the 2012 murders shortly after Aaron Hernandez’s arrest in the Odin Llloyd case. The tip combined with their own knowledge and memory of that double murder prompted them to investigate Hernandez for the double murder, too.

Police have seen surveillance tapes from 2012 and have determined that Hernandez was in a Boston nightclub called Cure at the same time the murder victims were there. He is also believed to have been inside an SUV that sprayed bullets at a silver BMW shortly thereafter, killing two men inside. Daniel Abreu and Safiro Furtado were both killed in the shooting. There is some evidence that Odin Lloyd was murdered for talking to others about this 2012 double homicide.

Odin Lloyd’s body was found about a mile from Hernandez’s North Attleboro, Massachusetts home in June.

It wasn’t long after his arrest that the New England Patriots cut ties with Hernandez.

Shortly after Aaron Hernandez was arraigned for the murder of Odin Lloyd, news broke about his possible involvement in the double homicide from 2012.

Things don’t look particularly positive for Hernandez regarding both of these murder cases. He has yet to be arrested for any involvement in the 2012 double murder. It will definitely be interested to learn if a development of that sort takes place in the near future, or if investigators will continue to develop an iron clad case, knowing he is in jail at least until his trial for the murder of Odin Lloyd.
