Galaxy Nexus Launches In UK, Release Date In The States Still Unofficial

Today, the wait for the much-anticipated Samsung Galaxy Nexus is over for a lucky few. The phones officially go on sale today in the UK. The Galaxy Nexus was announced for November 17th a couple of weeks ago, and although some carriers are going to miss the date by just a little bit, there is one place that anxious Brits can grab the new device.

UK phones retailer Phones4U will be the only place to find the Galaxy Nexus for the time being.

According to Google, carriers Vodafone, O2, and Three will be getting their shipments of the device a few days later. They are currently taking orders however, and will deliver the Galaxy Nexus to customers as soon as they get them in.

Of course, this is nice and everything, but U.S. customers are becoming a little impatient, as no official release date has been announced for the States. Various leaked roadmaps and rumors have pegged the date sometime around Black Friday, but just how close remains to be determined. The latest leak suggests the possible date of November 21st.

Apparently, Google told The Verge that the Galaxy Nexus “will be available ‘pretty much everywhere’ from Monday, November 21st.” Take from that what you will. “Pretty much everywhere” and “from the 21st” is some non-committal language, and it in no way solidifies the 21st as the launch date. But at least that’s some sort of nugget for Galaxy Nexus-hungry Americans.
