Kim Zolciak-Biermann Opens Up About Having a Stroke

Kim Zolciak-Biermann has opened up about her experience of having a stroke in September.

Zolciak suffered the stroke during week two of her run on Dancing With The Stars. She had just returned home after practicing with her partner Tony Dovolani when she began to experience the classic symptoms of a stroke.

“I bent down to hug my son KJ and all of a sudden my left hand went numb,” Zolciak-Biermann, 37, told People magazine for this week’s issue.

Zolciak said the symptoms only got worse as the minutes wore on.

“It was like a million ants were crawling over my body,” she said.

The sensation continued until she could no longer feel her face or tongue. Her six kids did not know what to think about their mother’s reactions because she is prone to pranking them.

“I’m always joking around with my kids,” said. “I do these Jim Carrey impersonations with my face and my daughter Brielle thought I was doing that! She said, ‘Mom, cut it out, you’re not funny.’”

Eventually Zolciak-Biermann was able to convey to her daughter that something was seriously wrong.

Zolciak-Biermann said she didn’t know it at the time, but she was having a stroke.

“I kept telling myself, ‘You’re fine, you’re fine. It’s going to be over in a minute, just hold on,’” she recalled.

Zolciak-Biermann underwent surgery to close a hole doctor’s found in her heart and is grateful for the stroke because she believes it may have saved her life.

Since then, the Tardy for the Party star posted a PDA-laden pic on Instagram to celebrate her fourth anniversary with hubby Kroy Biermann.

Looks like life is returning to normal for Kim Zolciak-Biermann and her family.
