Emily Ratajkowski was a nobody until three years ago, when she appeared almost naked in Robin Thicke’s controversial and super-racy video for “Blurred Lines”.
The video propelled the model into almost instant fame as “you know, that girl from the ‘Blurred Lines‘ video” and then later as Emily Ratajkowski, model/actress.
After all, the video landed Emily Ratajkowski a role in Gone Girl with Ben Affleck and also a role starring alongside Zac Efron in We Are Your Friends.
However, Emily Ratajkowski is sort of wishing everyone would forget where she got her start.
Emily Ratajkowski told InStyle UK, “I wasn’t into the idea at all at first. I think I came off as a bit annoyed in the video.”
At just 24, Emily Ratajkowski says the video is now “the bane of my existence.”
She added, “When anyone comes up to me about ‘Blurred Lines’, I’m like, ‘are we seriously talking about a video from three years ago?’”
But, as she would go on to explain, it’s not really the nudity that Emily Ratajkowki is embarrassed about.
She said, “It’s weird to me that the reaction to a woman’s naked body is so controversial in our culture.”
She added, “My mum taught me to never apologize for my sexuality. My dad never made me feel embarrassed. I also don’t think I’ve ever had an awareness of my own body as being super-sexual. It was always just my body.”
It seems Emily Ratajkowski is walking that hard road of models who are noticed for very racy or even raunchy work, then demand to be taken seriously as actresses.
Good luck with that Emily Ratajkowski. Sometimes it works, sometimes not so much.
