Ronda Rousey On Fighting A Man: “It’s Not Like It’s A Movie”

Ronda Rousey has been challenged by virtually everyone in the MMA world now that she’s proven herself to be such a hardcore contender; with a career record of 11-0, she’s made it known that she’s not to be taken lightly in a sport that is dominated by men. In fact, there’s been talk–some lighthearted, some not–of Rousey getting into the ring with a man now that she’s run through a good portion of the female fighters in the UFC. But she won’t do it, and she spoke recently about why.

“I just don’t think there should ever be a situation where there is an arena full of people gathered around cheering about a man hitting a woman. I really don’t see how that would be right. I really don’t see how that would help the sport at all. It would do nothing but hurt it. Because it’s real. It’s a real fight. It’s not like it’s a movie or a part of a storyline. It’s an actual man hitting a woman and I don’t think that’s ever acceptable,” Rousey said.

Ronda has done her share of fighting in movies like Furious 7 and Expendables 3, and said earlier this year that she wouldn’t be impressed with her male costars until they could do the more active scenes in heels, like she and Michelle Rodriguez did.

“Heels, designer dresses, marble floors…It was the most intense and painful fight that any of the guys could possibly have. If any of those guys did what they did in heels I would’ve been extra impressed,” Rousey told E! News.

Despite UFC President Dana White saying recently that Rousey wouldn’t make a return to the WWE, she says she does want to go back at some point. Rousey said on MMA Hour that she doesn’t know how it will happen yet or when, however.
