Christine Baranski: ‘The Good Wife’ Actress’s Husband Dies

Christine Baranski, known for her role as Diane Lockhart on The Good Wife, is mourning the death of her husband of 30 years, Matthew Cowles. The 69-year-old actor, known for his role as villain Billy Clyde Tuggle on the daytime drama All My Children, was found dead at his home on Thursday May 22nd. His cause of death is unknown.

Cowles was also known for his roles on Nurse Betty, The Bold and the Beautiful, and Life on Mars. He was a two-time Daytime Emmy nominee. In addition to being an actor, Cowles was a playwright, too. He also appeared on the big screen in Martin Scorsese’s Shutter Island.

In addition to her role on The Good Wife, Christine Baranski appeared as a guest star on The Big Bang Theory and made appearances on numerous other television shows. She is also a multiple Emmy nominee and Tony award winner.

Tsu Tsu Stanton was Matthew Cowles’ manage for many years. She shared word of his passing and of her grief via a Twitter post.

Former All My Children writer Jean Passanante shared her feelings about the actor’s death, too.

In addition to wife Christine Baranski, Matthew Cowles is survived by the couple’s two daughters, Isabel and Lily. Their husband and father’s sudden passing has no doubt left the family grief stricken and heartbroken. Condolences are no doubt going out from around the world to Matthew Cowles’ family and friends.

It will be interesting to learn in the coming days what took the actor from his loved ones so suddenly. Was it a heart attack or stroke? It’s likely that an autopsy is being conducted, but no word on that has yet hit the media. No word has been released on when Matthew Cowles will be laid to rest either. That will no doubt be announced within the next few days as well.
