GoPro Camera Is So Simple That Orangutans Can Use It

You have seen the commercials for the GoPro Camera, and if you are like most people, you may have thought about buying it. One of the things many people consider when buying a camera is how easy it will be to use it.

Sure everyone wants the newest and best camera features available, but if it is hard to understand or access these features, there is really no use in having them.

A group of orangutans had no problem figuring out how to use the GoPro Camera and were able to film themselves playing, eating and just being themselves.

The orangutans were given the GoPro cameras as part of an experiment to see how the orangutans would handle something new being introduced into their environment. The project is also part of an effort to teach the world more about the apes and make everyone aware of how endangered these animals are.

According to Dr. Pratje the project director, there are only three orangutan populations that contain more than 1,000 orangutans. The orangutans used in the video experiment were all orphaned and are being trained to learn jungle survival skills that will help them survive if they are able to be released back into the wild.

Orangutans have become endangered due to deforestation caused by the need for bio fuels. In Sumatra, around 80 per cent of the native forest has already been destroyed. Some experts estimate orangutans could be extinct in the wild in less than 25 years.
