New Resident Evil 6 DLC Coming December 18

It used to be that the replay value of a Resident Evil title came from playing as a different character or trying to beat the game in the shortest amount of time possible. This is 2012, though, and downloadable content (DLC) is the new reality for AAA game titles. With ResidentEvil.net, Capcom has shown that its vision for Resident Evil 6 extends well into next year.

Today, Capcom revealed that the first DLC packs for the new Resident Evil will be exclusively available to Xbox 360 owners on December 18. The content includes three new multiplayer modes that can be bought separately for 320 Microsoft Points or as a bundle for 720 Microsoft Points.

In addition to the new content, the long-awaited patch announced back in October will hit both the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 on December 17. It will enable the “No Hope Left” difficulty mode, a new co-op partner for the Ada campaign, and a few other convenience features.

Capcom has released a trailer previewing the new multiplayer modes included in the upcoming DLC. The Predator mode pits one to five players against a single player who takes on the role of the Ustanak:

Survivors mode is normal versus mode, but players who die will respawn as an enemy character and have to take down another player to come back as a human.

Onslaught is two-player mode where players compete to eliminate waves of enemies. Combos send more enemies to an opponent’s screen.
