Google Voice Gets Circles a la Plus

For those who use Google Voice, the telephony product from Google Labs, the announcement today that Voice is getting Circles must have been welcome news.

I’ve had a Google Voice number for years. I’m sure there is a good way I could utilize the thing, but I’ve just been squatting. However, I do use Google Contacts to organize all my, well, contacts. And, I use Gmail, Google+, et al.

The addition of Circles may push me to dust this thing off. The ability to record different voicemail outgoing message for different Circles sounds nifty.

From the Google Voice Blog:

“To help make it even easier for you to organize your contacts, today we’re adding Google+ Circles to Google Voice. Circles give you more control over how you manage your callers; for example, calls from your “Creepers” circle can be sent straight to Voicemail, only your “College Buddies” circle will hear you rap your voicemail greeting, or you can set your “Family” circle to only ring your mobile phone.

You can customize your Circles settings by visiting the Groups & Circles tab in your Google Voice settings.”
