Microsoft recently announced Update 3 for the RTM version of Visual Studio 2013, which includes some new features and fixes some bugs.

In Microsoft ASP.NET and Web Tools 2013.3, they added scaffolding support for ASP.NET 5.2 technologies (MVC, Web API). Scaffolding correctly detects what are new versions of NuGet packages that a project is using. If it’s still using ASP.NET MVC 5.1.2, scaffolding will use 5.1.2 rather than 5.2, for example.

Auto formatting has been added to the JSON editor, and it’s turned on be default. It can be turned off from Tools > Options > Text Editor > JSON > Advanced.

They added brace matching, so brace and brackets match highlighting are like in C# and JavaScript editors.

They improved IntelliSense support for Selectors Level 4, which supports more selector patterns. They also added drag-and-drop of fonts, images, and .css files from solution explorer into .css files.

The added support for two-factor authentication in One ASP.NET templates for MVC and Web Forms, and moved the ASP.NET Facebook Template to Visual Studio Gallery.

They also enabled the creation of ASP.Net projects using AAD when signing in with a Microsoft account.

There’s now support for publishing Microsoft Azure WebJobs.

For ASP.NET MVC 5.2, there are attribute routing improvements, feature updates, and bug fixes. For ASP.NET Web API 2.2
