  • Zynga Platform Gets Three Big Allies

We reported last week on Zynga launching a new social gaming platform appropriately titled the Zynga Platform. At the time, they only had a few small partners who would be bringing their games to the newly christened social games portal. Zynga now has three large partners that are going to use its portal to push their games.

Zynga announced yesterday at GDC that three large players in the social games arena – Konami, Playdemic and Rebellion – have joined up with Zynga to add their games to the Zynga platform. With these additions, Zynga cements their service as being one of the biggest players in social gaming outside Facebook.

“From Konami, one of the most esteemed game creators of our time, to the talented teams at Playdemic and Rebellion — we’re honored to welcome these new Zynga Platform partners. All three represent some of the best game development talent in the industry,” said Rob Dyer, head of platform partners at Zynga and former senior vice president of Publisher Relations at Sony Computer Entertainment. “Zynga Platform is about bringing great games to a captive audience that loves to play, and we’re dedicated to creating the best destination for social games for players and developers alike.”

Konami is one of the few Japanese developers, alongside Capcom, who have fully embraced the social gaming space. The company says that they have joined the Zynga platform to continue their success as a “top global social games developer.”

Playdemic has joined to increase the audience of its popular social games like Gourmet Ranch and Crossword Buddies. The company says that while it’s been successful on Facebook, it expects that joining the Zynga Platform will increase their growth even more.

Rebellion may be the oddest one out of the bunch as they are usually associated with core franchises on consoles like Aliens Vs. Predator. They reveal, however, that they are working on their first social game and will be using the Zynga Platform to launch it. I sure hope it’s an AvP social game in the vein of Mafia Wars.

When we reported on the launch last week, the new Zynga Platform Web site wasn’t up yet. It is now and open for play. Some of the current games available are CastleVille, Words with Friends and Hidden Chronicles.

  • Zynga To Launch Dedicated Social Gaming Platform

If you’re tired of playing Zynga games on Facebook or smartphones, then the social game company has the perfect solution.

Zynga announced today the launch of the creatively titled Zynga Platform, which will be a new social games portal for the company’s own games as well as third party developers.

“We built Zynga.com to give our players more ways to connect with each other and play great social games whether built by Zynga or other talented developers,” said Mark Pincus, founder and CEO, Zynga. “Together with our platform partners, we look forward to bringing more play to the world on our platform.”

The initial beta roll out of the platform will happen on Zynga.com. In addition to the social games that players have come to know and love, the site will also serve as a way for players to find new games and play games created by their third party partners.

Even if you move to Zynga.com to escape Facebook, Facebook is still going to be there waiting for you. The site is “totally integrated with Facebook as an extension of the companies’ strong and collaborative partnership.”

Hardcore players will appreciate the site the most as they will be able to send invites and requests directly to other players without annoying their Facebook friends.

“Zynga.com was created based on listening to players and understanding what they want and need to make their play time more fun and meaningful,” said Manuel Bronstein, general manager of Zynga.com. “We are excited to give players a way to connect with other people who love to play the same games in a destination that is all and only about games. We will continue to listen to player feedback and provide even better ways for them to connect and play together.”

The beta release of Zynga.com will include these features:

zFriends – Connect and play with more people, beyond your Facebook friends, who love to play as much as you do.
More Games – Five of Zynga’s top games – CastleVille, Words With Friends, CityVille, Hidden Chronicles and Zynga Poker – will be accessible on the site at launch, but soon you will be able to discover and play more social games by Zynga and third party game developers.
Social Stream – Get real-time access to items needed to advance faster in games by posting to Zynga’s live social stream without ever leaving your game board.
Player Profile – A profile that is all about the way you play, highlighting your favorite games, top zFriends, recent activity and your helpfulness score to see how you stack up against friends.
Live Chat – Without leaving the game board, you can also chat with zFriends in real-time to send gifts, strategize, or just say ‘OMG, look at the size of that beastie!’

    Zynga Launches Social Gaming Platform

Remember those third party partners that would be supplying content to the site as well? Well, the initial partners joining in are Mob Science, Row Sham Bow and Sava Transmedia. Other interested developers have the promise of over 240 million monthly active users who will see their games.

The full release of Zynga.com is expected sometime this month. The site will support 16 languages including English, Italian, German, Spanish and Japanese.

We’ll update you when the Zynga Platform officially launches.
