  • Zendaya Gets Photoshopped, Calls Out “Modeliste” Magazine Until Photos Removed

Zendaya was photoshopped recently, and she refused to stand for it. The 19-year-old was shocked to learn that Modeliste magazine had slimmed down her hips and torso in her November spread.

Immediately taking to social media, Zendaya Coleman called out the publication.

“Had a new shoot come out today and was shocked when I found my 19 year old hips and torso quite manipulated. These are the things that make women self conscious, that create the unrealistic ideals of beauty that we have. Anyone who knows who I am knows I stand for honest and pure self love. So I took it upon myself to release the real pic (right side) and I love it?? Thank you @modelistemagazine for pulling down the images and fixing this retouch issue,” Zendaya captioned the post.

A photo posted by Zendaya (@zendaya) on

You’ll note in the caption that Zendaya also thanks the publication for removing the photos in question. Fortunately the magazine heeded the singer’s wishes and made things right.

Zendaya is just one of many young women to be photoshopped recently–and is among those who won’t stand for the practice.

By Thursday afternoon, her post had received nearly 700,000 likes.

On Thursday, the Editor-in-Chief of Modeliste–Amy McCabe–issued a response to Zendaya’s disdain over her photoshopped images.

“Thank you, Zendaya, for raising a very important issue,” the response began.

“We were honored to work alongside Zendaya and her entire creative team and family for the photoshoot in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and specifically chose Zendaya as our Cover Model for the issue as we have a deep respect and admiration for her openness, honesty, the genuine manner in which she connects with her loyal fan base, as well as her integrity. We believe her to be an authentic and positive representative and an inspiration to women and of the values which we at Modeliste also hold,” the response reads.

“We hope you enjoy the ‘Unedited Edit’ images from Modeliste that we will release soon as a collaboration between Modeliste and Zendaya while also learning more about Zendaya from our interview with her which can be read in our Model Diaries on www.ModelisteMagazine.com.”

Way to go, Zendaya. Those photoshopped images didn’t add anything to her beauty. She is gorgeous as is, and she had every right to be enraged by what the magazine’s editors did to her photos. This practice has lent itself to an epidemic of sorts where young girls feel the needs to achieve unrealistic “perfection.” That perfection isn’t real, however, when it is photoshopped.

May this serve as a warning of sorts to other publications that believe they can improve upon the already-perfect looks of their models.

  • Giuliana Rancic Replaced by Maria Menounos as Co-Anchor of ‘E! News’

Giuliana Rancic recently announced she was stepping down as co-host of E! News, and on Thursday the network announced Maria Menounos will be her replacement.

Some expected Rancic was stepping down because of comments made earlier in the year about Zendaya Coleman’s dreadlocks, but she says that’s definitely not the case.

It was earlier in July that Giuliana Rancic shared word of her departure.

“For more than a decade, I was fortunate enough to play a role in the success of E! News and will miss my family at the show,” she said on July 8. “At the same time, I am excited to not only continue as host of two major franchises on E! but also executive produce the aspirational new show Rich in Faith for Oxygen as well as take my wine and clothing lines to the next level. This is such a thrilling time for me and I thank the gang at E! for understanding my desire to embark on this next chapter in my life.”

Giuliana Rancic added at the time that she would still be a presence on E! in her role on Fashion Police.

As Maria Menounos prepares to co-host E! News, it seems Giuliana Rancic isn’t the only one leaving. E! correspondent Alicia Quarles has tendered her resignation, too.

Earlier this week Rancic made news for her brand new hairstyle. In fact, she shared a photo of herself at the salon, contemplating on exactly what that new style might be.

“Mirror, mirror on the wall. What will be my next hair change of them all? @colorbyyvonne @extbymissbrown @mechesalonla,” she captioned the Instagram post.

Does Maria Menounos have what it takes to replace Giuliana Rancic as co-host of E! News? She was a fan favorite for years alongside Mario Lopez at Extra.

Do you think Giuliana Rancic seriously damaged her fan base when she made that comment about Zendaya?

  • Kathy Griffin ‘Sh*t All Over My Mother’s Legacy,’ Melissa Rivers Says

Kathy Griffin, ‘shit all over my mother’s legacy,’ Melissa Rivers said during a recent interview with Hoda Kotb at the 92nd Street Y.

Page Six reports that Melissa Rivers had maintained her dignity with regard to Kathy Griffin leaving Fashion Police–even after Griffin made a rather pompous-sounding statement about her departure.

“I do not want to use my comedy to contribute to a culture of unattainable perfectionism and intolerance towards difference,” Kathy Griffin said in a statement via social media back in March.

“My biggest complaint was the feeling that she kind of s - - t all over my mother’s legacy in her statement on leaving. And I know that was not an intentional reading of it, but that’s how I felt . . . by calling the comedy and the style of it old-fashioned. It was like, I understand what you were doing, you’re trying to save yourself, but don’t crap all over my mother to do it,” Melissa Rivers said.

Rivers says that despite Kathy Griffin leaving–as well as the fighting between Kelly Osbourne and Giuliana Rancic over Rancic’s inappropriate comment about Zendaya Coleman’s dreadlocks, that Fashion Police will be back. It was her mother Joan Rivers’ pet project. Rivers died back in September at the age of 81.

“We were a family, cast and crew . . . and we went back too soon. And just like a family, when the matriarch dies, the sisters started fighting; and someone tried to marry in — not a great match, live and learn. ‘Fashion Police’ was a little jewel and it was the last piece I had of my mother . . . I felt like all these people were so out of control, including the person who made the allegation about racism. They took the last thing I had and smashed it,” Melissa Rivers said.

Do you think Kathy Griffin intended to shit all over Joan Rivers’ legacy, or is Melissa Rivers still too tender over her mom’s passing to see what was really going on?

  • Val Chmerkovskiy Attends Zendaya’s High School Graduation, Visits Children’s Hospital With ‘DWTS’ Partner Rumer Willis

Val Chmerkovskiy is a very busy man these days. In addition to rehearsals for Dancing With the Stars, he attended the high school graduation of a former dance partner–Zendaya–and made a visit to Children’s Hospital LA just a couple of days prior with current dance partner–and mirror ball contender–Rumer Willis.

Zendaya Coleman and Val Chmerkovskiy competed together during season 16 of Dancing With the Stars. The duo made it to the finals, placing as runners up.

Val noted in a photo he shared of himself with Zendaya that the Disney actress appeared at the Met Gala shortly before her high school graduation–pulling both events off with style.

“…from the Met straight to set to graduating high school. Proud of my lil Zendayachka. #driven #fam @zendaya,” Val Chmerkovskiy captioned the shot, as he wore Zendaya’s graduation cap.

Rumer Willis and Val Chemerkovskiy were joined by DWTS friends Noah Galloway, Sharna Burgess, Riker Lynch and Allison Holker for their visit to the Children’s Hospital.

“a blessing is only realized when it’s passed forward. the families, the nurses, and everyone that works so hard everyday to put smiles on the faces of these incredible children. puts things in perspective. #blessed,” Val captioned a photo taken at the hospital.

A photo posted by Val (@iamvalc) on

He shared photos with some other precious little patients, too.

“My new friend Joselyn showing me how to properly point my fingers :)) @childrensla #dancetherapy #dwts #blessed,” Val Chmerkovskiy captioned this shot.

He shared this photo of Rumer Willis getting in on the action.

“#teamvalenrue spreading love and sparkly dresses at @childrensla @ruelarue,” he captioned it.

A photo posted by Val (@iamvalc) on

Val Chmerkovskiy must be quite a guy. To attend the high school graduation of a former DWTS contender and to visit sick children at the hospital with Rumer Willis and some more of his Dancing With the Stars friends–all while preparing to compete for the mirror ball trophy–is quite a testament to this pro dancer’s character.

Do you think Val Chmerkovskiy and Rumer Willis will win this season of Dancing With the Stars?

Val Chmerkovskiy is quite clearly a winner already–in so many obvious ways.

  • Giuliana Rancic Apologizes to Zendaya Coleman For Offensive Dreadlock Comments

Giuliana Rancic apologized to Zendaya Coleman and others she offended by her comments made on Fashion Police about the actress-singer’s Oscar-night dreadlocks.

Giuliana Rancic told E! News Tuesday that the reaction generated from her comments has increased her awareness of “cliches and stereotypes.”

“They are damaging,” she said, adding that she and others have the responsibility to avoid perpetuating them.

The uproar came after Rancic said that Zendaya Coleman’s hair suggested the smell of patchouli oil or marijuana on Monday’s Fashion Police.

“I’d really like to address something that is weighing very heavy on my heart,” said Rancic. “I want to apologize for a comment that I made on last night’s ‘Fashion Police’ about Zendaya’s hair. Now, as you know, Fashion Police is a show that pokes fun at celebrities in good spirit, but I do understand that something I said last night did cross the line.”

“I just want everyone to know, I didn’t intend to hurt anybody, but I’ve learned it is not my intent that matters — it’s the result and the result is that people are offended, including Zendaya, and that is not OK. Therefore, I want to say to Zendaya, and anyone else out there that I have hurt, that I am so so sincerely sorry,” she said.

“This really has been a learning experience for me – I’ve learned a lot today – and this incident has taught me to be a lot more aware of clichés and stereotypes, how much damage they can do. And that I am responsible, as we all are, to not perpetuate them further. Thank you for listening.”

Giuliana Rancic took to Twitter earlier in the day to say that her comments had nothing to do with race.

Giuliana Rancic’s post came after Zendaya Coleman, 18, whose father is African American, called Rancic’s Fashion Police comment about her dreadlocks “outrageously offensive.”

  • Zendaya Coleman Sizzles With Sexy New ‘Do

Zendaya Coleman not only sizzles with her new ‘do, she appears even more polished and mature. Sporting a bob with uniform layers that didn’t quite meet her chin, Zendaya wowed fans at the Princess Grace Awards Gala in Beverly Hills last Monday.

The new ‘do served to accentuate her romantic Vivienne Westwood gown by channeling a sultry persona to top the princess style. The bangs that barely met her brows packed a punch, leading eyes upward to the stunning features the bob frames.

Alas, Hollywood Life reports that Zendaya Coleman’s new bob is just a wig. In fact, they believe she wore the same one to the 2014 Teen Choice Awards back in August. Nonetheless, the style is stunning on the Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day star–and she should perhaps consider making it her permanent, natural style.

In other news for Zendaya Coleman, she was spotted walking the red carpet for Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day on October 6th. She wore her locks in a top knot that day–and was escorted on the red carpet by none other than her dad.

Zendaya and actress Bella Thorne–her former Shake It Up costar–are reuniting for an episode of new Disney Channel series called K.C. Undercover.

The two even met up on the Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day red carpet.

It definitely appears as though Zendaya Coleman has a lot going for her right now. And while that bob definitely added to her allure, it’s evident she doesn’t need it to perpetuate Hollywood success. She’s doing that quite nicely with her talent alone.

  • Zendaya Coleman Talks Leaving Aaliyah Biopic

When Zendaya Coleman was chosen to play Aaliyah in the upcoming Lifetime biopic about the singer, it seemed like a big break for the teen star. Coleman rose to fame on the Disney Channel as one of the stars of Shake It Up.

Coleman recently announced on the Wendy Williams Show that she was leaving the biopic. Many people were upset to learn that Coleman had been chosen for the role to begin with and she received a lot of criticism when news that she had been cast got out.

Coleman said that the constant harassment and criticism were exhausting at times, but that wasn’t the reason she left the film.

According to Coleman, Aaliyah’s family had different plans for the biopic than the producers and the two sides couldn’t agree. Coleman felt that going against the family’s wish was not morally right and when she realized that neither side was going to give, she decided it was in her best interest and everyone else’s if she walked away.

“The reason why I chose not to do the Aaliyah movie had nothing to do with the haters or people telling me I couldn’t do it, I wasn’t talented enough or I wasn’t black enough. The production value wasn’t there,” the 17-year-old actress said.

“And I tried my best to reach out to the family on my own and I wrote a letter, but I was unable to do so. Therefore I felt not really morally okay with moving forward with the project,” she added.

Coleman went on to wish the actress who was chosen to replace her, Alexandra Shipp, good luck on the show and said that she hopes the public is not as quick to criticize her as they were Coleman.

“I hope that she does not have to deal with half the haters that I had to deal with,” she said about Shipp.

  • Zendaya Coleman: Rumored Reason Why She Quit the Aaliyah Biopic

Zendaya Coleman has officially dropped out of the Lifetime biopic of Aaliyah.

On Sunday, June 29, the 17-year-old singer-actress’ representative released a statement announcing her decision to decline the role of the late singer.

According to Yahoo! News, Coleman explained that problems with production ultimately led to her decision to opt out of the film. The teenage Disney star specifically said she no longer wanted to be affiliated with the film because “production-wise, (it) wasn’t all the way there.”

“Because it’s someone that I honor, and I respect so much, it has to be 128 percent, especially for all her fans, including myself,” Zendaya said yesterday upon arrival at the Nokia Theater for the 2014 BET Awards.

“I didn’t feel like it was all the way there, so I didn’t want to do that. And when the time comes when it’s done right, and its 100 percent, by all means, I will be the first person there ready to go.”

Another statement was posted to Coleman’s official Twitter account confirming the decision. “Aaliyah has always been a source of inspiration to Zendaya,” she tweeted. “She was honored to portray her and pay tribute to her. If she is going to do it, she wants to do it right.”

The Lifetime network also responded to Coleman’s statement via Twitter. “We are sad Zendaya will no longer portray Aaliyah. Production is currently on hold.”

Although, Coleman explained her reasoning for dropping out of the film, several media outlets are reporting a different issue she was plagued with upon being cast for the role.

Immediately after the network announced that the “Swag it Out” singer had been cast for the highly lauded role, she became a direct target for criticism.

According to Yahoo! Celebrity, the “One In A Million” singer’s family was also outraged by the network’s decision because they had not been consulted, at all. It has also been rumored that the family is not pleased with Lifetime’s production platform for the highly anticipated biopic.

Aaliyah’s cousin, Blackground Records president, Jomo Hankerson, weighed in on behalf of the family from a professional perspective. The longtime record label executive stated that legal aspects could also prohibit the production of the film.

“Because we control the masters [to Aaliyah’s recordings], the rights and some images of the musical elements that we put together like the videos, and photo shoots and things that we did, what we can just withhold those elements from the production, which we would do,” Hankerson explained.

No further details have been announced about the continuation of production for the film.

  • Zendaya Coleman Quits Aaliyah Biopic

    Zendaya Coleman Quits Aaliyah Biopic

19-year-old Disney Channel Star Zendaya Coleman has pulled out of the Aaliyah biopic that was set to begin filming this summer for Lifetime.

“Because it’s someone that I honor and I respect so much, it has to be 128 percent, especially for all her fans, including myself,” said Coleman. “I didn’t feel like it was all the way there, so I didn’t want to do that. And when the time comes when it’s done right and it’s 100 percent, by all means, I will be the first person there ready to go.”

Lifetime announced Coleman’s intentions to star in the film two weeks ago, as well as their plans to have the young star record several of the late R&B singer’s hits.

Aaliyah’s family is reportedly not supporting the project, and Coleman received backlash from fans who believe she is too light-skinned to portray Aaliyah.

Coleman most recently competed in season 16 of Dancing with the Stars and is set to appear in two upcoming Disney films.

“She’s been an inspiration and influence in my whole career, her talent still shines brighter then ever, all I wanna do is honor her,” Coleman tweeted after her plans to appear in the biopic were announced, “….she’s beautiful inside and there will never be another Aaliyah, I just hope to share her beautiful story, and make her proud up in heaven.”

Aailyah, who passed in 2001 at age 22 in a tragic plane crash, is known for her hits such as “Try Again,” ”Back & Forth,” and “Are You That Somebody?”

The biopic, entitled Aaliyah: Princess of R&B, is scheduled for release this fall. Lifetime has not released an official statement on Coleman’s decision to leave the film, but have tweeted that they are “sad” that Coleman will no longer be involved in the project. According to Lifetime, her departure has put the production “on hold.”

  • Zendaya Coleman Quits Aaliyah Movie, And Here’s Why

Zendaya Coleman exits Aaliyah biopic project just weeks after Lifetime announced the movie. In a statement on Twitter, Lifetime said, “We are sad Zendaya will no longer portray Aaliyah. Production is currently on hold.”

The biopic entitled Aaliyah: Princess of R&B was scheduled to begin filming over the summer with a premiere date in the fall. The script for the movie was based on a book by Christopher Farley entitled Aaliyah: More Than a Woman.

Zendaya, 17, was cast as Aaliyah and she was supposed to record four songs that would be used in the movie. According to executive producer Debra Martin Chase, Coleman was the choice to play Aaliyah, as “she has Aaliyah’s spirit.” Zendaya recorded part of a song to be used in the movie and the producers were impressed.

Zendaya receives opposition from Aaliyah fans

Production for the movie was also halted for a few other reasons. One of which is that the producers were not able to secure the rights to Aaliyah’s music. After the announcement of the biopic, Aaliyah’s family said that they would do everything they can to prevent Aaliyah’s music from being used in the film.

Aaliyah’s cousin Jomo Hankerson said that their family is seeking help from a lawyer regarding issues about music rights. “We want a major studio release along the lines of What’s Love Got to Do with It,’ the Tina Turner movie,” Hankerson told The New York Daily.

Chase said, “This film will provide a heartfelt look at Aaliyah’s extraordinary and all-too-short life journey that we hope will provide inspiration to an entirely new generation.”

Aaliyah died at the age of 22 when her plane traveling from The Bahamas to the United States crashed shortly after it took off. She was with eight others and no one survived the accident.
