  • YouTube Opens Up Paid Channels in a Big Way

If your YouTube channel is in good standing and you have 10,000 existing subscribers, there’s a good chance that you can now charge users to view your content if that’s something you wish to try.

YouTube has just announced an expansion to the paid channels pilot that will allow more partners to participate. Eligible partners in good standing with over 10,000 subscribers can now enable the feature on their accounts pages.

    What does this mean, exactly?

Good standing simply means that you’ve played nice over the years. This means you have no Community Guidelines strikes, copyright strikes, and no videos that have been blocked worldwide by Content ID. Being eligible for a paid channels means that you’ve completed the following steps:

    • Your account is in good standing.
    • You meet the general criteria for YouTube partnership.
    • You have verified your account by phone.
    • You have an approved AdSense account linked to your YouTube account.
    • You own a free channel with at least 10,000 active subscribers.

Before today, paid channels were only open to a few dozen partners.

YouTube has also announced that they’ve added Mexico to the eligible countries list, and more countries are on the way. Currently, paid channels are only offered in Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, Spain, the UK, and the US.

If you want to try out a paid channel, YouTube will give you a 14-day free trial.

“Just as the Partner Program empowered creators to build great channels over the last six years, we look forward to seeing how you use this additional business model to build your audience on YouTube,” says YouTube.

YouTube first launched paid channels back in May. Recent reports indicate that they may be off to a slow start, with various partners expressing disappointment in the early returns.

  • Motorboatin YouTubers Raise Money for Breast Cancer Awareness

Simple Pickup describes motorboating as “the act of pushing one’s face in between two ample breast, and rocking one’s head side to side very rapidly while making a vigorous, lip-vibrating ‘brrr’ sound.” Yeah, that’s about right.

Although breast cancer awareness and motorboating don’t really share the same seriousness shelf, these YouTubers have decided to put the two together for the cause. They recently set out to motorboat as many girls as they could find – with the added bonus of donating $20 per motorboat to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

In all, the guys raised $2080. Gratuitous boob-shaking below:

And here’s the proof of the donation, if you needed it:

Also, for every 100K views they get on the video, they’re going to donate another $100.

As The Daily Dot points out, the guys behind the Simple Pickup YouTube channel have received their fair share of backlash for previous videos – claims of unwanted sexual contact and even harassment. This stunt, despite its “for a good cause” excuse, is not likely to appease those critics.

I won’t speak to any of those previous videos, but I will say that everyone involved in this one seemed to be doing it in good fun. Borderline distasteful? Maybe. But with willing participants and a good chunk of donations, what’s wrong with a little motorboatin’?

  • Analyzing “Chinese Food”, The New Hit Internet Song

Analyzing “Chinese Food”, The New Hit Internet Song

What are the two best things in the world? Fridays and Chinese food, right?

Well, Patrice Wilson, the man who wrote Rebecca Black’s “Friday” is back at it again with another hit internet song, this time, about Chinese food. The song is titled “Chinese Food” and is sung by Alison Gold, who is much like Rebecca Black, except with blonde hair.

A music video of “Chinese Food” was uploaded and published on YouTube yesterday, and has already garnered (as of October 15th, 2013 at 3:22 PST) 1,663,634 views.

Don’t let the 28,000+:6,000+ thumbs down to thumbs up ratio fool you, “Chinese Food” is a song that reflects on the appreciation of great taste.

In case you’re one of those “elitists” who thinks they’re too good for real music (and proceeds to listen to lyrics about materialism, lust, and violence), or maybe your mind can’t take another demon curse like “Gangnam Style” or “What Does The Fox Say”, here are some highlights of the music video:

In the beginning, we see a cook speaking Chinese and using two large sticks to mix noodles on a giant hot plate.

Enter singer Alison Gold. “After prom night” Gold goes “clubbing”. To which club it is unknown, but apparently they have clubs for kids now, Gymboree, for example.

After a long day of partying, Gold gets very hungry.

And when Gold gets hungry, she gets “grumpy”.

In fact, despite her blood sugar and energy levels running low from the lack of nutrition, Gold gets so grumpy that she wields the power of The Incredible Hulk.

The only medicine that can assuage the beast that is Gold’s hunger pains is none other than Chinese food.

How amazing is Chinese food to Gold? “I love Chinese food, you know that it’s true!”

Is this the look of sheer terror over the fact that some suburbanite just ran into the restaurant and started singing about Chinese food? Or is it the look of opportunity that the restaurant is about to soar in profits due to the enormous appetite of one little girl?

Because Gold loves fried rice, egg roles, and chow muh muh muh muh mein.

Move over Iggy Pop, this is what a true appetite of destruction looks like. Gold goes on to marvel in the delight of her feast. “They got broccoli, even chicken wings, make it spicy, and you like it because it’s beautiful and it tastes so so so so good.”

“I like their egg roles, and their wonton soup, this makes me feel so so good.”

    “Fortune cookies tell the future.”

Behold, it is her new friend! A furry? A costume enthusiast? We may never know, but Panda Suit was sitting there the whole time, watching.

It’s a little suspicious how Panda Suit “too” will also find a friend in a restaurant dominated by preteens.

Sure, you may teach your children to never talk to strangers, but how can you talk to strangers if they don’t speak?

What hand gestures are you making, Panda Suit?

Clearly, nothing out of the ordinary, just some afternoon rollin’ in the grass fun.

    Revelations 6:8

Panda Suit successfully infiltrates the teeny-bopper slumber party…

…and reveals his secret identity. It’s Patrice Wilson! The same guy from Rebecca Black’s “Friday” video.

Just talking about Chinese food and enjoying the party.

That’s not where houses go in Monopoly.

And even after eating copious amounts of Chinese food earlier this afternoon, the cravings strike again.

Cravings that are so strong, you’re willing to eat the left over sauces on a bench in the park.

    “I love Chinese food.”

Don’t mind the cultural insensitivity here; geishas are associated with Japanese culture, not Chinese culture. The video makes up for it by adding subtitles of various other languages and switching it up every five seconds.

The fun continues until the ultimate ending, which is so powerful, it cannot be bastardized here.

  • Miley Cyrus’ “We Can’t Stop” Video Parody

Miley Cyrus’ “We Can’t Stop” Video Parody

Miley Cyrus Appeared on SNL this weekend making fun of others and of course, herself. (I mean what trip to SNL would be complete without poking fun at ones self?)

And speaking of poking fun, there’s a YouTube group, Barely Political that’s making fun of everyone from Miss Cyrus to country sweetheart, Taylor Swift.

Before you watch the goofy video poking fun at Cyrus, check out the original video.

Now, take a look at what parody duo, “Key of Awesome” did with Cyrus’, “We Can’t Stop.”

The YouTube comics also poke fun at reality television shows like, “The Voice” as well as creating a different ending to the very popular series that recently concluded, “Breaking Bad.”

Who do you think they should parody next?

  • Homeland Season 3 Episode 1 Is Available on YouTube

Just a heads up here, folks. If you forgot to set your DVR because you were too busy freaking out about the series finale of Breaking Bad (and we don’t blame you) and you missed the season 3 premiere of Showtime’s hit series Homeland – well, you’re in luck. You’re also in luck if you don’t subscribe to Showtime, I guess.

Showtime has just put season 3 episode 1 up on YouTube, for free. Check it out:

Don’t think that you’ll just be able to watch the entire third season like this – Showtime isn’t stupid. They did this to entice viewers into buying a subscription to their service – the ol’ get-em-hooked strategy. HBO has done this in the past as well, with premiere episodes of shows like Veep.

  • The Walking Dead Season Four Webisodes Are Now Live on AMC, YouTube

While millions mourn the passing of Walter White’s critically acclaimed vehicle, there’s a ray of sunshine breaking through the cloud of no more Breaking Bad known as The Walking Dead. Instead of immediately filling the void caused by the end of Breaking Bad, AMC is giving viewers a couple of weeks to mourn their loss. That being said, the wheels of promotion stop for nothing, and with one more Sunday to sit through until The Walking Dead returns on October 13, which is plenty of time to increase the velocity of the anticipation train. To help facilitate this, AMC has released a collection of The Walking Dead webisodes that were created with the intent of getting you in the mood for the return of Rick Grimes and his band of zombie killers.

As you might expect, these mini-movies focus on characters who don’t appear in the television show, which gives AMC the opportunity to tell more stories from The Walking Dead universe. This season’s made-for-the-web series is a three-parter focusing on two lone survivors who are trying to find an aid station. The episodes were directed by Greg Nicotero, who offers these thoughts over at the AMC blog:

“The webisodes give us a unique opportunity to see other parts of the ravaged world of The Walking Dead while weaving in and out of our show. The crossover between The Oath and The Walking Dead ties in one of the most iconic images from the series, and gives us insights and history to yet another timeline. I had worked with Ashley [Bell] on The Last Exorcism and brought in Wyatt [Russell] and Ellen [Greene], who rounded out the brilliant cast perfectly”.

All of the episodes have been posted by AMC on their website and on their YouTube page, and we have them for your enjoyment:

  • YouTube Music Awards Coming In November, Nominees To Be Announced This Month

Music is a major driving force on YouTube. The amount of views music videos get on YouTube is staggering. It only makes sense then that YouTube finally capitalize on that popularity.

YouTube announced on Monday that it will host the first-ever YouTube Music Awards on November 3. Like any good awards show, it will bring together the biggest artists of the year in one place to perform for those who made them so popular on YouTube.

For its first annual show, YouTube has lined up Lady Gaga, Arcade Fire, Eminem and others alongside some artists that made it big thanks to YouTube – including Lindsey Stirling and CDZA. The show will be hosted by Jason Schwartzman and directed by Spike Jonze.

So, how is this all going to work? Starting October 17, the nominees will be announced on YouTube. From there, fans will vote for their favorites until the awards show on November 3. During the voting period, the nominees will start uploading new music, videos, interviews and more to court your favor.

We can only hope and pray that the YouTube Music Awards prove to be popular as it could be our redemption from the Grammys and VMAs. A music awards show that’s completely decided by the fans using the power of social media will be a sight to behold. It might even help inspire similar award shows.

  • Wonder Woman Fan Film Succeeds Where DC, Warner Brothers Fail

Whenever the subject of a Wonder Woman movie or TV show is discussed with those behind bringing DC’s heroes to the live-action screen, words like “tricky” and “getting her right” are often used, and meanwhile, fans are left, well, wondering where the hell their Wonder Woman live action content is. Thankfully, some fan films have come along to fill the smoldering gap that is littered with names like Adrianne Palicki and Joss Whedon. Aside from almost perfectly capturing the tenor and tone of the Wonder Woman character, these fan creations also act as mud in the eye of those behind getting the comic into made into a quality live action offering, preferably in the form of a feature film instead of television.

The latest, courtesy of Rainfall Films, shows getting Wonder Woman right might not be that tricky at all. All it takes is a little effort, some good casting, and the involvement of folks who care about the subject matter. The end result looks as good as any of the hero stuff that airs on the CW:

The movie’s centerpiece is played by Rileah Vanderbilt, and she’s rightfully enjoying the accolades she’s receiving, while offering some behind-the-scenes information:

Over at the video’s YouTube page, the movie’s director, Sam Balcomb, explains the motivation behind the film:

Firstly, thanks for watching. Whether you like, or dislike, our live action interpretation of Diana of Themyscira, Wonder Woman, born of clay, I think (quite a few of) you will agree she is a character just as vital and crucial to our understanding of humanity as any other superhero… if not more so.

We spent the majority of 2013 working on this — the look, the feel, the aspects we most wanted to portray. It’s a scant two and half minutes, but in the end, it’s one hundred and fifty seconds of pure fantasy, where I get to consider the two sides of my favorite warrior: a crusader in man’s world, and a paragon of virtue told through Greek mythology.

It’s a fun world to hang out in. I hope you enjoy it.

    – Sam

With that in mind, it would be nice if DC and Warner Brothers took the same kind of approach to making sure a quality Wonder Woman project was actually realized.

  • YouTube Comments Are Getting Cleaned Up

Anyone familiar with the internet is familiar with the infamous titan that is the YouTube comments section; full of terrible grammar, angry rants, confused relatives, and the occasional, waxing-on-philosophical question about the meaning of life, YouTube comments are one of the symbols of the internet, representative of both its terrible way of corrupting everything it touches while simultaneously breaking out new, revolutionary ideas that have the ability to change the world for the better. (That may be a bit of a stretch, but the point still stands.)

Google, and, consequently, YouTube, seem to be rolling out the carpet for a fresh change of pace, however. Starting with a limited amount of YouTube users today, YouTube will be featuring priority for comments based on relevancy rather than how recent they are. The change is being powered by Google+, and features a slew of other nifty tools that may just change how the internet and world views YouTube comments sections.

Nundu Janakiram, product manager at YouTube, said that, YouTube comments will have three main factors considered when determining their relevancy; “community engagement by the commenter, up-votes for a particular comment, and commenter reputation.” This also means that comments flagged as “spam” or “abusive” are more likely to be buried, while posts from popular, active YouTubers will be elevated.

Since the tools will be powered by Google+, there are predictions that the relevancy and usefulness of Google+ accounts will rise. After all, who wouldn’t want the ability to filter through the racism, misogyny, and hatred so embedded in YouTube comment culture in order to get straight to the good stuff; relevant conversations concerning that adorable video of a kitten in a box.

  • YouTube Gives Creators Access to a Bunch of Royalty-Free Music

If you’re a YouTube power creator (meaning you make and upload a lot of videos), then you know that finding the right music to feature in your videos is a struggle. Finding the right royalty-free music for your video? That’s even tougher.

To help its vast network of creators, YouTube has just launched the all-new YouTube Audio Library – a resource that features over 150 royalty-free instrumental tracks that creators can use in their videos. Free music, people.

You can download any of the track as 320 kbps MP3 files.

When you access the new Audio Library, you’ll find that all of the music is sortable by genre, mood, and featured instrument. You can also star certain tracks to add them to your favorites for quicker use.

“[T]his project was a whole lot of fun. We searched far and wide for musicians to create tracks for us and ended up finding co-conspirators in multiple places: an acquaintance down in LA, music houses across the country and a well-known music producer in Brooklyn. And it turns out the latter produced albums for Phish and Sean Lennon. So, we’re basically rock stars now (or we felt like them for awhile),” says YouTube.

YouTube provides a link for artists to check out if they’re interested in contributing to the new library. That means you can expect the selection to grow over time.

  • Protip: Knocking Boots While Driving Is Not All That Safe [Kind Of NSFW]

Driving is an incredibly complex task that requires the full attention of the one behind the wheel. That’s why state governments are telling people that those texts from your BFF can wait. There are some things that apparently just can’t wait, however, and YouTuber DailyMixtapeUploads may have found it.

Our intrepid YouTuber caught a couple knocking boots while driving along I-290. It’s not exactly the safest thing, but our star-crossed lovers seem to not care. In fact, they seem to enjoy the fact that they’re being filmed while breaking at least four state and federal laws.

Check out the NSFW-ish and bizarre video below:

The above video is just another one of those bizarre, random events, like that time the Google Street View car caught people having sex on the side of the road.

  • YouTube Comments Are Finally Getting Better

YouTube comments are about the worst thing on the Internet. Sure, you could probably dig up some awful subreddit or visit 4chan to see the worst the Internet has to offer, but YouTube comments remain everybody’s reminder that humanity is awful. Now, there’s nothing you can do about humans being awful, but YouTube can do something about its commenting system.

YouTube announced today that it’s finally revamping the way people see comments under videos. As you would expect, Google+ is going to play a large role in the revamp effort. That means that you’ll see more comments from user’s Google+ profiles with links to said profiles.

Now, YouTube comments wouldn’t be that improved by just integrating Google+ into the comments. Thankfully, YouTube is taking it a step further by adding discussion threads. No more will you see a random comment that was made in response to another. You’ll see the original comments and all replies will file in after it.

Another big change is how themselves are presented. Currently, comments are separated by Top Comments, Author Comments and everything else. As the new commenting system improves, users will start to see the kind of comments they care about rise to the top. In other words, you’ll start to see more comments from friends, subscribers and creators instead of the comments that make you want to give up on life.

All the above apply mostly to users, but creators will be getting their own set pf tools with the new commenting system. These new tools will allow creators to moderate comments before they’re posted, block comments that contain certain words and auto-approve comments from certain fans. In short, creators can make sure that the undesirables are never heard from again.

A change to the way we comment on YouTube has been a long time coming, and most of the change is positive. Some will no doubt be skeptical about Google+ further encroaching on YouTube, but it was going to happen sooner or later. At least users and creators still aren’t being forced to merge their YouTube accounts with their Google+ account.

  • YouTube Takes Top Fans Out Of Beta

YouTube Takes Top Fans Out Of Beta

Earlier this year, YouTube introduced a new feature called Top Fans that allows creators to identify and engage with their biggest fans. The feature was originally only available to a select few creators as part of a beta, but now it’s ready for primetime.

YouTube’s Jeb Havens announced today that the Top Fans feature is now available to all creators. Well, not all creators as the feature is only available to channels with over 5,000 subscribers. Still, that’s a pretty low threshold, and any channel with less than 5,000 subscribers probably doesn’t need to worry about engaging their top fans anyway.

So, how does this Top Fans feature work? First, you’ll want to hit up the Community tab in the YouTube dashboard. From there, you’ll see a table that lists your most engaged fans. This list is updated daily, and you can sort it by any number of metrics, including comments, likes and shares.

Since this is Google we’re talking about here, it has also worked some Google+ functionality into the Top Fans feature. That means that you’ll be able to set up a Google+ circle of your top fans and then send out messages, questions and private videos that only they can see. The feature will also let you see what other content your fans like so you can better target their interests.

Havens notes that the Google+ functionality doesn’t just go one way. Your top fans will be encouraged to follow you on Google+ as well whenever they watch one of your videos. If they do decide to follow you, it will make it even easier to connect with the fans that are helping spread your brand across the Internet.

In other YouTube news that may be of interest to creators, Google just recently announced that fans will soon be able to download your videos to their mobile device and watch them offline. You can read more about that here.

  • YouTube Memo Explains How Offline Videos Will Work

YouTube announced yesterday that mobile users will be able to download videos for offline viewing come November. In the announcement, YouTube didn’t bother explaining the actual logistics of its new offline video program, but a memo sent out to partners did just that.

All Things D reports that it has obtained a memo YouTube sent out its partners today regarding its plan to let users download videos for offline viewing. As expected, YouTube creators will be able to restrict a user’s ability to download their videos, and can do so now before the feature goes live in November. Interestingly enough, however, YouTube says that the option to download videos will be set to on by default.

In the original report, it was stated that YouTube videos could be viewed offline for up to 48 hours. In the memo, YouTube clarifies this by saying that the videos can be viewed for 48 hours without an internet connection. Once a connection is established, the 48 hour timer is refreshed. If you go more than 48 hours without an Internet connection, the video will not play until the user reconnects to the Internet.

What may be most important to creators, however, is how ads will work in offline videos. YouTube says that Google’s in-stream ads will accompany these downloaded videos and any views made offline will be added to the total view count once that user reconnects to the Internet. Of course, there are two caveats. First – downloaded videos will only support Google’s in-stream ads, nothing else. Second – videos for rental or purchase on YouTube will not support this ad functionality.

All in all, it looks like YouTube creators have nothing to worry about. They’ll continue to have full control over their content while being able to still make money off of offline views.

  • YouTube To Soon Add Offline Video Viewing To Mobile Devices

Have you ever found yourself without Internet, but wanting to watch YouTube? Well, there are a few unofficial ways to download YouTube videos, but Google will soon offer an option of its own.

The YouTube team announced today that it will soon be rolling out an update that will allow people using the mobile YouTube app to download videos directly to their device for offline viewing. The videos will not be theirs to keep, however, as the downloaded versions will only be available to watch for a limited time. According to a report from All Things D, that “limited time” is 48 hours.

So, how does this affect content creators who make a living off of YouTube videos? All Google will say at the moment is that the feature will allow fans to enjoy videos without being interrupted by a lack of Internet service. That’s where All Things D comes in by saying that ads will still play on the downloaded videos, but doesn’t say whether or not those ads will count towards the revenue earned by creators. I’m going to assume, however, that Google will keep track of how many offline plays a video has earned and apply those ad views to a creator’s payout.

The YouTube team isn’t saying much else about the offline viewing feature as of yet, but it’s scheduled to launch in November. Before then, the team says that they’ll update the official YouTube blog with more details for both creators and fans. When that happens, we’ll bring you all the details.

  • Google Tests Chromecast Support For YouTube Embeds

When the Chromecast was first announced, Google said that its new streaming device would only work with certain services, like YouTube Now with a new update that’s making the rounds, Chromecast users may soon find themselves able to beam content from more places.

Gigaom is reporting that some Chromecast owners on Google+ are noticing that their devices is now allowing them to stream YouTube videos embedded on third-party Web sites. You could already do this through Chromecast’s ability to display a Chrome Web page on a television, but you would have to watch the video on the Web page itself. It’s not exactly an elegant solution.

With this latest test, Chromecast owners will now get the native YouTube experience no matter where they are. It’s a big improvement over the previous implementation that would have required the user to open YouTube in their browser and search for the embedded video in question before being able to stream it on their television.

It should be noted that this is merely a test at this point in time. A YouTube spokesperson told Gigaom that this current test is just one of many Google regularly conducts to see what consumers react positively to. It may consider rolling out the feature to more users based upon the feedback it receives during this test.

Beyond this minor change, there’s not much else happening on the Chromecast front. After killing off an unofficial app that let users stream local content via Chromecast, users have been requesting Google officially add the feature. Unfortunately, there’s been no transparent progress made on that front so we’ll just have to wait a bit longer to see if Google implements the one feature that most users obviously want.

  • Chipotle’s New Ad “The Scarecrow” Goes Viral

Chipotle’s New Ad “The Scarecrow” Goes Viral

Chipotle, the popular fast-food restaurant known for their 100% use of organically-farmed meat and produce, released a new advertisement on YouTube that went viral within 48 hours. The 2-minute ad, “The Scarecrow,” is completely animated and only being aired on YouTube. In addition to the video, there is also a mobile application of the same title.

The video, in which a farmer starts his own organic food stand after self-termination at a factory farm, doesn’t even display an association to the restaurant until the final few seconds. At the very end, a Chipotle truck drives into view with the brand name emblazoned on the side.

The initial goal of the video was to promote its new mobile game. However, the controversy and attention garnered by the release of “The Scarecrow” has given the Chipotle brand multitudes of free advertising as being an ethical choice for fast-food consumers.

Fiona Apple sings a Willy Wonka tune in the background, “Pure Imagination,” and the clip ends with the slogan, “Cultivate a Better World,” on the farmer’s food stand.

  • Drunk Driver Confesses To Manslaughter on Youtube, Pleads Not Guilty, Gets New Judge

Matthew Cordle claims that he was black out drunk on June 22 when, after a night out on the town with his friends, the 22-year-old got in his truck, and entered the highway going in the wrong direction. In a video confessing to the events that occurred that night, located below, Cordle solemnly states, “My name is Matthew Cordle, and on June 22nd, 2013, I hit and killed Vincent Canzani.” The clip ends with Cordle asking for viewers to refrain from drinking and driving.

The video was created for the Because I Said I Would project, whose mission is “bettering humanity through the power of a promise.” Cards, like the one shown at the top of this article, are sent out to participants so that they can write out a charitable act or episode of good will.

Cordle was indicted on September 9th, for one count of driving under the influence and for a count of aggravated vehicular homicide, which eventually lead to the death of Vincent Canzani. He turned himself in to the police later that day.

Today, Cordle found himself in a courtroom, and after all the talk of justice and doing the right thing included in his video, plead not guilty to judge Julie Lynch. That same judge speculated that the surprise plea may have sprung from a sneaky effort to have a different judge preside over his case.

Cordle’s lawyers have said that he will remain in jail and will not post his bail of $250,000 until he changes his plea to guilty before his new judge, David Fais. Lynch, the first judge, was visibly upset in court today at the “not guilty” plea, and she was vocal about her distaste towards someone who would be dishonest in court. Cordle’s attorney’s claim that they were attempting to play the court, as Ohio law makes a “guilty” plea lock in a judge to a case. Attorneys were apparently spooked when Lynch claimed that she was unsure of how she would sentence Cordle, who can face up to eight and a half years in prison.

  • C. G. P. Grey Posts An Informative Love Letter To reddit

    C. G. P. Grey Posts An Informative Love Letter To reddit

How do you answer the “what exactly IS reddit?” question? Is it simply a link aggregation site that features an active audience, or is it a window to many of the wonders offered by the Internet and the world in general? The simple answer is yes, reddit is all of that and a lot more; although, not all of it has been above the board. It’s hard to deny it’s position in the grand scheme of the things when discussing Internet supremacy. All of those cute, funny images your friends are “liking” into popularity on Facebook?

Chances are, they were found on reddit.

Which brings us to C. G. P. Grey’s informative, if not mash note-worthy, YouTube video explaining what reddit is and how you use it. While it’s clear Grey is fond of reddit, his video–which is done in the style his fans (almost 900,000 subscribers) expect–offers a great deal of information about how the site works, including the subreddits and the ever-enjoyable comment sections. If you’ve been wanting to get on reddit but it’s a little confusing and/or intidmating, Grey’s video is here to help:

Are you in the “reddit is awesome” clan or does the text-based interface, combined with a sometimes volatile audience (looking at you, /r/gaming) make it miss your daily website rotation? While individual user mileage may vary, from my perspective, a personalized reddit is an enjoyable reddit. That’s what the subreddits are there for, allowing users to tailor their experience based on their interests.

  • A$AP Rocky Gets Charged with Assualt

A$AP Rocky Gets Charged with Assualt

According to TMZ, American rapper, A$AP Rocky is facing a misdemeanor assault charge after allegedly slapping a female fan. The alleged assault happened this past weekend at the rappers, “Made in America” concert in Philadelphia.

Apparently, the person that filed the charge is a young mom who was attending the concert. According to the TMZ report, the young woman was in the crowd that the rapper was walking through. The crowd of fans were dancing while tugging on the rapper’s shirt when he apparently turned around and struck the woman with a, “open-hand slap.

The young mom filed the complaint against Rocky today. She said that she’s suffering an injury from the assault claiming she in fact received whiplash.

The District Attorney’s office reviewed the case and decided to file a simple assault charge against the Harlem raised rapper.

But what’s really interesting is that this may not be the first time Rocky’s acted this way towards his female fans. In a video that was posted on Youtube nearly two months ago, it shows him open-hand slapping a woman across the face after she continuously hit him on the head at the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney, Australia. While we don’t know what exactly went down this weekend, it’s pretty clear what happened in this video.

Patrick Stewart, consummate actor, wants to teach you a thing or two about performing the rare quadruple take – which is “in a different category altogether” than the other, more “naturalistic” acting of the single, double, and triple take.

In this masterclass in acting uploaded by his girlfriend Sunny Ozell, Sir Patrick Stewart demonstrates the difference between the takes. He also (likely) demonstrates what’s it’s like to be so stoned you’re talking about quadruple takes. Either way, it’s classic Stewart.
