  • Hugh Jackman Will Return To Broadway This Fall

Hugh Jackman, the famous Aussie actor currently on a round of X-Men promotion, has already announced his next acting gig: Broadway. Jackman, 45, will return to Broadway this fall in “The River,” a play by Jez Butterworth that tells the story of a fisherman (Jackman) and a missing woman, set in a remote cabin by the water. The play is moving over to Broadway after a successful run at the Royal Court in London, which opened in 2012.

The play starts previews on October 31st, with opening night slated for November 16th at the Circle in the Square theatre. One of the smallest Broadway theaters, Circle in the Square has only 775 seats, which will probably sell out nightly, due to Jackman. In addition, there’ll be at least 40 seats a night priced at only $35, making it more accessible. Sonia Friedman, Broadway producer for “The River,” understands that the smaller theatre and cheaper ticket prices limit the financial success of the play. She says, “I have seen plays and stars in theaters that are too big. It’s my job to protect Jez’s play. We could have easily gone to a 1,000-seat theater, but the work is too delicate. You need to feel you can touch the characters. You need to see the whites of their eyes. I know it sounds weird, but it’s the truth.”

“The River” will be Hugh’s fourth time on Broadway; previously he’s appeared in “A Steady Rain,” “The Boy From Oz,” and in 2011, a special concert entitled “Hugh Jackman: Back on Broadway.” Jackman won the Tony Award from “The Boy From Oz” back in 2003, and returns to the Tonys again this summer as the award show’s host on June 8th. On hosting the awards, Jackman says, “I’ve done it three times, and for me it’s one of the best shows out there. It is one of the most accepting, generous audiences you can ever get; I never take for granted how lucky I am to be embraced by that community.”

In the meantime, we can catch Hugh in X-Men: Days of Future Past when it opens in theaters on May 23rd. Hugh reprises his famous role as Wolverine, but don’t expect his X-Men character to cross over onto the Tony stage: “I’m not sure Fox will be thrilled if Wolverine came out singing and dancing.”

  • Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique Could Get Own ‘X-Men’ Spinoff

Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique could be the next X-Men character to have a spin-off film in the franchise.

The 23-year-old Oscar winning actress reprises her role as the shapeshifter Mystique in the 20th Century Fox film, X-Men: Days of Future Past, which does not release in theaters until May 23. However, there is already talk of a spin-off film with Mystique as the central character, much like the successful Wolverine series, starring Hugh Jackman.

“There was a regime [at the studio] that didn’t see the worth in [spin-offs], and the current people who run Fox understand, embrace it, and we’re going to do right by it,” says producer Lauren Shuler Donner, who has produced all of the X-Men films.

“I’d like to do Gambit. I’d like to do Deadpool. We’ll see. There’s a lot of really great characters,” Donner said.

She also said she would be interested in making a film with Mystique as the focus.

“I love what Jen Lawrence has done with her, and I feel like because she is in such a crowded ensemble, there’s so much more opportunity if you were to follow her solo,” said Simon Kinberg, writer and producer of X-Men: First Class.

Lawrence has two more Hunger Gamesfilms scheduled to be released in the next 18 months, and possibly the next X-Men film in the spring of 2016. Harvey Weinstein, producer of Silver Linings Playbook, said in February that Lawrence might take a year off after filming for the  final installment of the Hunger Games trilogy wraps.

The next movie in the franchise, X-Men: Apocalypse, is scheduled for release on May 27, 2016. A third Wolverine standalone movie is schedule to hit theaters on March 3, 2017.

  • Hugh Jackman Shows Google+ How Pumped He Is For “The Wolverine” (And Hugh Jackman)

Hugh Jackman is one of those people who actually has a lot of followers on Google+. His verified, official account is in nearly 3 million people’s circles. For Google+, that’s pretty popular.

    On Friday, he posted this:

    Hugh Jackman

"Wolverine is back…feel so pumped about this one……never felt so ready!!!!"

The next Wolverine movie, simply called, “The Wolverine,” is getting a lot of attention on the web today, as new images are making their way around. SuperHeroHype has posted some, which show Jackman, in character, looking more like Rob Zombie than Wolverine. Here’s one:

It’s a far cry from this picture posted to Jackman’s account today:

"Without a doubt, it’s my family. I have two beautiful kids, an incredible wife, and it’s just about being with them.” – Hugh on what makes him the happiest

By the way, has anyone else noticed that Hugh Jackman’s Google+ profile (at least the public stuff) pretty much just consists of pictures of Hugh Jackman?

Those are all just from the past six days.

Going back a little further, you’ll run into this bad boy on July 31:

  • Nintendo Power Gloves Infused With Super Powers

The Nintendo Power glove was pretty useless, unless you had the ability to put it on and use it for other things like pretending you had the ability to play games with the glove. But you could also run around and pretend that you had a glove that could shoot lasers, or lift things telekinetically, or that gave you super strength. But what if the glove belonged to a superhero who already had powers?

Enter Josh Ln who has managed to infuse some powers, or in Batman’s case his costume, into the totally useless but totally awesome Nintendo Power Glove. Wolverine, Ironman, Thing, Batman, and Spiderman all make a cameo here and show that all you need is a little imagination. Go to Josh Ln’s Society 6 page to purchase any or all of these prints and hang them in your game room for all to marvel at!

  • California Wolverine Photo Snapped by Hiker

California wolverine: The headline opens itself to all sorts of geeky X-Men jokes, though I’ll do my best to refrain from such inherent silliness, as it’s simply too easy to abuse in this instance. Besides, the actual story is far more interesting than any of the beloved Marvel character’s make-believe adventures. Sorry, but it’s true.

David Messa, a hiker who was exploring the area near Lake Spaulding in California, managed to snap a photograph of a wolverine, one of the rarest animals in the Sierra. According to U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, there are approximately 212 of these animals in the United States, which qualifies them for protection under the Endangered Species Act.

Messa spotted the wolverine in question as it was attempting to make its way across the ice. As the animal grew closer to where the hiker was standing, he managed to take a photo, which has been confirmed by a wildlife biologist. This is only the fourth documented wolverine sighting in the region in several years.

“He was like a bull in a china shop running across that lake,” Messa said of his close encounter with the animal. “He just probably feared nothing. He was kind of galloping; actually fell through the snow two or three times, turned around and came back, and came across in front of me. I was actually able to get a photo.”

According to Fox News, the wolverine is the second rarest animal in California. The lone wolf from Oregon is at the top of that list.

  • Marvel And Reebok Do A Team Up On Some Shoes

So sometimes even china gets a scoop. This time they were the first ones to find out about some new shoes being designed by a team to feature some of Marvel’s favorite super heroes and anti-heroes.

The website was actually in Chinese so I had Google translate it and this is what it came up with when they were talking about the Captain America shoe:

“Captain America, the theme of sports shoes to the Reebok Ventilator shoes for the prototype, combined with the Captain America uniform and shield color and pattern elements, from shoes to experience the spirit of Captain America’s sense of justice gas.”

    Here is the original text:

    ??????????Reebok Ventilator???????????????????????????????????????????

Justice Gas you say? LOL…is this propaganda or is this google translate getting things wrong? Or maybe Captain America and dairy products don’t get along? Unfortunately we will never know.

The other part of the site that is interesting is that they call Wolverine “Werewolf” in China…..kinda weird.

Here are some of the cooler designs for you to check out. There are others on the Chinese website. Captain America’s design is the lead at the top of the page!:

  • Superhero Alphabet Saves Other Alphabets From Lameness

Superhero alphabets come and superhero alphabets go. In my opinion, this superhero alphabet is here to stay. If no other reason than it has WWE superstars the Undertaker and Edge in it!

The alphabet was put together by René Mambembe fro mNantes, France, and is titled “Helvetica, My Hero.” The use of Helvetica is cool if only because it might be one of the most heavily covered fonts of all time!

This alphabet features both villains and heros form the Marvel and DC universe. What sets it apart is the use of both Street Fighter characters and WWE superstars. My personal favorites are E is for Edge just because I really wasn’t expecting it, and Z for Zangief. Also, how could I leave out W is for Wolverine?
