Guess it’s one of those “when art imitates life” kind of things.
Leonardo DiCaprio and a few of his closest friends are experiencing the World Cup like few others — on one of the world’s largest super yachts.
DiCaprio and more than 20 friends are hanging out on the 482-foot Topaz — worth an estimated $679 million — while staying in Brazil for the soccer tournament.
The fifth largest yacht in the world is owned by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who is the deputy prime minister of the United Arab Emitates and owner of professional soccer club Manchester City FC.
On Thursday, the boat was anchored in Rio de Janeiro while The Wolf of Wall Street actor took in the first game of this year’s cup, a 3-1 victory by hosts Brazil in Sao Paulo, wearing a Brazilian scarf around his neck.

The 43-year-old Sheikh is a member of the royal family of Abu Dhabi and doesn’t exactly need the money. It is estimated his net worth is around $4.9 billion and his family has a fortune of $153 billion.
Sheikh Mansour is the half-brother of the current president of the UAE and has two wives and five children.
This is not the first time DiCaprio has thrown a party on the Topaz. In April this year, Leo, Jamie Foxx and Orlando Bloom hosted an 80s themed party on the Topaz in New York.
Leonardo DiCaprio will have a companion when he heads out into space — a very rich companion.
DiCaprio auctioned off a chance to accompany the Wolf of Wall Street actor on his voyage into space Thursday at this year’s amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala, held at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in France. The opportunity to ride along the actor sold for 700,000 Euros, or around $1 million U.S. dollars.
At last year’s amfAR auction, three other seats on the SpaceShipTwo — which accommodates six passengers and two pilots — sold for a combined $3.8 million.
DiCaprio and his lucky space buddy will fly aboard Virgin Galactic’s suborbital SpaceShipTwo space plane in 2015.
The SpaceShipTwo space shuttle will take its human cargo to an altitude of about 50,000 feet by a mothership named WhiteKnightTwo. The mothership will release the plane, after which the rocket engines will fire up, boosting the vehicle into suborbital space. From there, passengers will see Earth from the blackness of space and experience a few minutes of weightlessness, Virgin Galacticrepresentatives say.
Tickets to ride the commercial space shuttle sell for $250,000, and to date more than 700 people have put down deposits to reserve a seat. One would wonder why someone would pay $1 million when they can get a ticket for $250,000, but it was all about the charity.
The cost of the seat on the space plane may seem like a lot, but the work of contemporary artist Damien Hirst is what really brought in the bucks for the charity event. A 10,000-year-old fossil coated in steel created by the artist was purchased for 11 million Euros, or $15 million.
Along with a seat with DiCaprio on the space voyage, the auction also sold a 1967 painting by pop artist Andy Worhol of actress Marilyn Monroe, which sold for around $477,000 as well as a 1968 painting by legendary artist Pablo Picasso, which brought in almost $520,000 for the charity.

Wolf of Wall Street didn’t win the Oscar for best picture, but it did indeed rock. A couple of USC film students shared those same thoughts but decided to do a little tribute of their own with a creative Wolf and cookies mashup…And I mean lots of cookies.
I mean it makes sense, right? Both titles end in the same word. Why wouldn’t you want to combine the movie and the children’s show?
In the short clip (I know-I wish it was longer too) Cookie Monster plays Leonardo DiCapro’s role while his close buddy Elmo fills in for Jonah Hill.
I think the parallel between Cookie Monster and DiCaprio’s insatiable hunger for more makes the Sesame Street character a perfect shoe-in for the coveted role of Wall Street guru Jordan Belfort.
Matthew McConaughey even makes an appearance too!
Wolf of Sesame Street features our favorite childhood characters swearing and partaking in a world beyond the quaint, alphabet-learning, fuzzy realm in which we once lived in.
So without further ado, check out the insanely wild, curiously fun Wolf of Sesame Street. Oh, and by the way, the clip isn’t really that suitable for work.
Jimmy Fallon can’t stop making us laugh. The Tonight Show star recently revisited an old skit that had us all tickled.
The Hastag 2 follows up his Twitter spoof about folks constantly talking and using hashtags via social media. The original spoof featured Justin Timberlake and while we think he’s hilarious, Fallon’s second guest is just as funny.
The skit started with Fallon knocking on the door to join actor and pal Jonah Hill. Hill of course was consumed by his telephone.
Instead of chatting like normal people, the host and Hill decided to turn their small talk into hashtag glory.
“Just having my morning Joe, hashtag livin’ la vida mocha,” Fallon replied. “Hashtag no coffee no workie.”
“By the way congrats on your Oscar nomination,” the funny man added before shouting, “Hashtag Wolf of Wall Street!”
“Thanks man, hashtag blessed,” the hilarious Hill replied.
Still don’t know what I’m talking about? Check out the video here so you can be up-to-speed. #Yourewelcome
If that wasn’t enough hashtag comedy for you, check out the original skit featuring funny man Timberlake.
But perhaps the best part of the video (aside form the Harry Potter hashtags) was the awesome surprise cameo made by Wolf of Wall Street director Martin Scorsese who entered the room only to say, “hashtag been done.”
But of course the skit didn’t end there with the guys firing back even more hashtags. The ending however, is the best part. Check out the video. It’s definitely one to watch.
He is getting a lot of recognition for his films this year. He was recently nominated for a Golden Globe for his role as an AIDS-afflicted good ol’ boy inDallas Buyers Club. While that role is getting most of the Oscar attention, the small part he has as a sharp-tongued stock trader who teaches a few tricks of the trade to his new employee, Jordan Belfort, in Martin Scorsese’s Wolf of Wall Street also has critics talking.
On Saturday the Dallas Buyers Club star was honored with the Desert Palm Achievement Award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Gala.
“Mathew is a true professional,” Gary Oldman, who presented the award to McConaughey told The Hollywood Reporter. “We worked together a long time ago. He’s charming, funny as hell, and his humor is so unique. It’s under the radar. I love his work in Dallas Buyer’s Club — it’s just thrilling.”
McConaughey spoke of his incredible weight-loss during the gala, for which he sought advice from Tom Hanks during his own weight-loss feats for films Philadelphia and Castaway.
“There was never enough money, we did it under $5 million, not enough time, the shoot took 28 days. There was enough food on the set but we couldn’t eat it,” he said.
Paramount has just dropped the official trailer for the Martin Scorsese-helmed The Wolf of Wall Street, and it looks like it’s going to be quite the ride.
The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio as Jordan Belfort, a big-shot New York stockbroker who is approached to participate in a giant securities fraud case. It deals with Wall Street excesses, corruption, and organized crime – and all of that is on display in this new trailer.
“The year I turned 26, I made $49 million, which really pissed me off because it was just shy of $1 million a week,” says DiCaprio’s character, Belfort.
Nice. There’s a lot of partying, boats, a monkey, dwarf tossing, and some new Kanye West music – an all around intriguing production, to say the least. Check it out:
The film, based on the memoirs of Belfort himself, is slated for a November 15th release. It also stars Matthew McConaughey and Jonah Hill.
