  • Winter Boots: Tips To Keep Them Nice All Winter

Boots are the perfect thing to keep your feet warm and dry this winter and can also be a great addition to an adorable outfit.

Whether you wear winter boots for comfort or style, the chances are that you want to make them last as long as possible.

The best way to do that is to care for them properly.

If you want your boots to last you the entire winter and maybe even next year, follow these tips to keep them in good shape.

    Cleaning
If you step in mud or dirt, you can just wipe your boots clean, or can you? During the winter, people, businesses and cities use chemicals and salt to melt ice and keep sidewalks and roads clean and clear. As you walk around on these same sidewalks and roads, your boots pick up the salt and chemicals. The salt and chemicals can cause the materials your boots are made of to break down faster than normal, causing holes and tears and allowing moisture to get inside. Use special boot cleaning products such as Boot Rescue to remove these chemicals from your boots and help them last longer.

    Drying
The snow and ice can cause your boots to get really wet and if you don’t dry them properly they can become smelly and break down. Fungi and mold can grow in damp boots and the material can also break down. Make sure your boots are thoroughly dried each night by placing them in a warm, dry area in your home. You may also want to use a boot dryer to help them dry faster.

    Storing
When it comes time to put your boots up during warmer weather, you need to make sure you store them properly. Make sure they are both clean and dry and consider adding moth balls to prevent pests from making their homes inside them.

Boots are expensive and once you find a pair you love, you will want to wear them for as long as possible. In order to make this possible, you need to care for your winter boots the right way. Follow these tips and your boots will last you through several winters.

  • Winter Boots Can Be Warm And Stylish

Winter Boots Can Be Warm And Stylish

Winter boots have always been about function over style. After all, who cares about style when you’re staying warm. Forget that, we can be warm and stylish. Going into the holiday season, some of the best winter boots are also stylish.

PlanetShoes, an online shoes retailer, have decreed a number of brands that you should be watching out for this holiday season. These winter boots will keep your feet warm while making you the talk of the classroom and/or office. The retailer suggests those looking for style should check out boots from Bos and Co. or Woolrich. If you don’t care as much about style, traditional winter boot makers like Timberland and Bogs still offer mildly stylish options for those who care more about function.

“Being up in Boston, we understand the necessity of a great pair of winter boots to keep your feet warm, happy and dry,” said Phil Meynard, President of Planet, Inc. “With fashionable styles complete with pops of color and fun embellishments, it’s easy to look and feel great all season long in any of our exciting new boots.”

There’s one brand, however, that you may not find under the tree this year. The Guardian is reporting that L.L. Bean’s duck boots are incredibly hard to find this year. The company can’t keep up with demand, and there’s already a waiting list stretching to spring of next year. In other words, this year’s hottest winter boots will not show up on doorsteps until winter is over. It’s a crummy situation, but one that’s seemingly unavoidable thanks to college kids. L.L. Bean claims that there’s unprecedented demand for its stylish and waterproof boots from young people.

To make up for the wait, L.L. Bean is even sending out little duck boot key chains to those on the waiting list:

Key chains can’t keep your feet warm, but at least it’s something.

  • Ugg Boots: More Popular Than Ever?

Ugg Boots: More Popular Than Ever?

Love them or hate them, Ugg boots are apparently here to stay. These boots have been popular gift items for several years now and just when some people thought they were fading from the style spotlight, they come back more popular than ever.

The good news is that those bulky Ugg boots from the past are not the only design options available. The classic Ugg boots were made of sheepskin and although they were worn by hundreds of celebrities and models, they weren’t really all that stylish. Perhaps their main appeal was that they were casual and comfortable, and easy to slip on when you needed to run out to feed your dogs in the middle of a snow storm.

These days, Ugg boots are available in a variety of styles and colors. You can still purchase the classic slip-on Uggs or you can opt for a lace up version. Not only are the lace up Ugg boots a breath of fresh air, they are also more versatile and can be worn with a variety of outfits. Where the classic Uggs were best paired with laid back styles such as sweats, leggings or skinny jeans, the lace up style can be worn with dressier attire too.

Still not convinced that Ugg Boots are rising in popularity? Just ask the company that makes them. According to Deckers Outdoors, their shares are rising as a result of an increase in Ugg boot sales. The cold weather seems to have inspired more people to shop for boots and it turns out, a lot of these people are purchasing Uggs. According to a sales analyst for the company,

“We continue to believe the colder weather has helped spur Ugg sales, particularly as consumers replace older Uggs,” the analyst wrote.
