    Wesley Snipes Could Do Blade 4 for $3M

    Actor Wesley Snipes was making bank on the Blade series of movies. After starting his career with more traditional fare, such as Spike Lee’s Mo’ Better Blues, Snipes ended up crafting a place for himself in Hollywood as an action hero. And the Blade series, which cast Snipes as a “daywalker” vampire who hunts other vampires, was his meal ticket.

    Then came the tax man. Snipes was convicted of failing to file federal income tax returns and sentenced to three years in prison. late 2010 until mid 2013, Snipes called McKean Federal Correctional Institution his home address.

    Now that he is free, Snipes is no doubt eager to get back on top. He has already appeared in Expendables 3. While that film did not make the bank it was hoped to, Snipes did confirm his bona fides as an action star, even at the age of 52. And now he is reportedly would make $3 million for playing the title role in Blade again, as well as a cut of the profits.

    Some sources are not so sure about whether this whole deal will materialize. It turns out that the movie rights for the Blade franchise reverted back to Marvel, which is now owned by Disney. Some industry commentators wonder if Disney would want to do something like a Blade movie now.

    Wesley Snipes has served his time behind bars and is now back in his first role since being released — The Expendables 3 — joining his friend, Sylvester Stallone.

    On Monday Snipes joked that Stallone had him slated for the first Expendables film but he couldn’t commit because he was “just a little occupied at the time.”

    “They reserved a spot for me and when the opportunity came along he reached out again and said come join us, we would like you to be a part of this.”

    Snipes began his jail term in December 2010 after being convicted and sentenced to three years in prison for tax evasion in 2008.

    The movie takes a jab at Snipes’ time behind bars in the opening scenes with a tax-evasion joke.

    Stallone also had a few jokes of his own to share about his friend’s time in prison.

    “You don’t mind that I’m readying you for a part in Escape From Alcatraz 2 do you?” Stallone asked Snipes at a press conference in London.

    “Whether I do something really funny or really stupid, it is okay with me,” said the 52-year-old actor. “I think that is what life is about. You can’t take life itself too seriously.”

    At the end of the day, nobody really cares. You’re going to be forgotten anyway. The issues and problems that you think are like mountains that you have to deal with now, after time goes by, nobody cares. Might as well have a good time with it.”

    The 52-year-old actor is eager to get back into the rhythm of filming action projects and is especially hopeful to return to his role as the vampire in the Blade franchise.

    “A lot of people are calling for it and I would like to do it,” he said.

    Snipes spoke to reporters ahead of the film’s world premiere on Monday, and revealed that Stallone had penned him for the first film, however he was a bit “preoccupied at the time.”
