  • Christy Mack Getting New Tat to Block Out “Property of War Machine”

Christy Mack is getting that regrettable tattoo blocked out. You know, the one that says: “Property of War Machine.”

Christy Mack and MMA fighter “War Machine”, AKA Jon Koppenhaver, used to be an item. Then he — allegedly — beat the hell out of her. Since then, they sorta cooled off. Koppenhaver was arrested, Christy Mack has undergone surgeries, and then he tried to kill himself while in jail.

Koppenhaver’s fan base has been pretty vicious to Christy Mack, as though her being a porn star entitled their intrepid hero to knocking her teeth out. Since then, she has had some veneers put in just so she can eat.

“I didn’t look in the mirror for weeks,” Mack told ESPN recently. “Just feeling my face, I knew it wasn’t right. So when I’d look in the mirror, it’s not me — that person wasn’t me. It’s so hard to go every day without being you anymore.”

Although she is thankful for her veneers, which allow her to function somewhat normally, they are uneven. She won’t smile for cameras right now, not until she gets some better dental work done.

As Mack retells the tale that we have heard so many times, she reveals some new details that most may not have been aware of. For example, her address was released as part of the public police record of the beating incident. So she could not go back home. She had to move.

Christy Mack has been through so much pain in the past several months, but she plans on enduring some more — this time voluntarily. She is going to get a new tattoo. This one will be designed to block out the red stencil print that says “Property of War Machine.”

For his part, War Machine has written about who is to blame for what happened. He lays blame on society as a while, Christy Mack herself, and wishes that other guy he — allegedly — beat on that night had not been there when he showed up. If only, that would’ve changed it all.

Christy Mack assesses War Machine’s mindset. “He blames his childhood, he blames me, he blames fighting. He claims he found God now — he’s looking for any kind of way not to take responsibility for what happened.”

  • Christy Mack Details Gruesome Attack, Losing Her Identity

Christy Mack was a porn star and model best known to a particular group of people when all of a sudden, her name was everywhere. And not because her star had risen as far as it could go.

Mack was brutally attacked last August, allegedly at the hands of her ex-boyfriend, MMA fighter Jon “War Machine” Koppenhaver, and since then she’s been recovering. Physically, the pain has been unbearable at times; Mack had a liver injury (reportedly from kicks delivered to her side from Koppenhaver) that was so brutal, doctors waited to operate on her face because they were afraid to put her under anesthesia. But one of the worst things about the attack was how personal it was. After beating her face so badly that she needed extensive dental and eye socket surgery, she says, Koppenhaver deliberately cut off her trademark mohawk with a knife.

“Just feeling my face, I knew it wasn’t right. So when I’d look in the mirror, it’s not me — that person wasn’t me. It’s so hard to go every day without being you anymore,” she said in a recent interview with ESPN.

Christy said that her ex didn’t become abusive until several months into the relationship, and by that time she was already deeply in love with him. Like many victims of abuse, she thought the pattern would end, especially since she says he would become the best version of himself afterward because he felt horrible about what he’d done. Koppenhaver has pleaded not guilty on all charges, which include sexual assault and attempted murder.

While in the hospital, she chose to document her injuries to share on social media because she wanted to speak out about violence, and while she had a lot of supporters–some of whom donated money to help her with dental surgeries–there were also plenty of people backing War Machine, and some of them were of the opinion that she had been at fault, whether by not leaving him when the abuse began or because of her lifestyle.

“This is not acceptable. I’m not going to sit around in my hospital bed and have people say that I did something wrong. This is what happened, so I decided to put it out there,” Mack said about her decision to share her story.

These days, Christy is still recovering from her injuries and says her next goal is to get a tattoo to add to several intricate designs already on her body. This one will cover up another that reads, “Property Of War Machine”.

  • War Machine, Greed, Poverty the Real Issue in Ferguson, Says Rapper Killer Mike

It’s the war machine, Killer Mike said. It’s the greed and the poverty in Ferguson.

Killer Mike, the rapper from Atlanta who is himself the son of a policeman, has been outspoken on the troubles in Ferguson since the shooting death of Michael Brown. He told an audience last night that the grand jury decision in Ferguson was not a surprise to him. But it still sparked a fear for his own children.

“I just gotta tell you today that, man, no matter how much we do it, no matter how much we get shit together, shit comes along and kicks you on your ass, and you don’t feel like a champion,” Killer Mike told the crowd assembled mere miles from the epicenter of Ferguson. “So tonight, I got kicked on my ass when I listened to that prosecutor.”

“I knew it was coming. I knew it wasn’t going to be good,” he said of the decision announcement. “But I gotta tell ’em. You motherfuckers got me today. You kicked my on my ass today. Because I have a 20-year-old son, and I have a 12-year-old son, and I’m afraid so afraid for them.”

Killer Mike emotionally rallied his audience. But just when you thought he might be calling for some race-based violence, he called for friendship and equality.

“You motherfuckers will not own tomorrow. We will not live in your fear. We’re not going to keep playing that race card, ’cause we know, we know you don’t value my skin. We know you do value his [pointing to El-P, his white friend on stage].”

And here is the part that Breitbart did not quote:

“But you know what? We’re friends and there’s nothing gonna devalue that. We are the same.” (See the full speech below.)

“I can promise you today, if I die when I walk off this stage tomorrow, I’m gonna let you know this. It is not about race, it is not about class, it is not about color. It is about what they killed him for. It is about poverty, it is about greed, and it is about a war machine. It’s about a war machine that uses you as a battery.”

“So, I might go tomorrow, I might go the day after. But the one thing I want you to know. It is us, against the mother-fucking machine!”

Killer Mike had already made his opinion on the Ferguson matter known. He told CNN, “We have essentially gone from being communities that were policed by people from the communities to being communities that are policed by strangers, and that’s no longer a community, that’s an area that’s under siege.”

In an op-ed piece for Billboard, Killer Mike made an ominous statement.

“I only have this warning to all Americans: Whatever this country is willing to do to the least of us, it will one day do to us all.” Killer Mike said.

As the son of a policeman, Killer Mike brings a perspective to the issue that most will not have.

“Being a cop must be hard,” he acknowledged. “My dad was one, and never wanted any of his children to follow in his footsteps. Being a cop is often seeing the worst of the human condition and behavior.”

Still he said that the killings of unarmed suspects, especially black men like Michael Brown and Eric Garner is the result of “bad policing, excessive force and the hunt-and-capture-prey mentality many thrill-seeking cops have adapted.”

  • Christy Mack and War Machine: Everything You Need to Know in Five Minutes or Less

Tomorrow is the day that Jon Koppenhaver faces arraignment for the alleged beating of porn star Christy Mack and her friend Corey Thomas back in August. The story has popped up in news feeds from time to time, but has generally been idling while Koppenhaver cooled his heels in a Vegas jail, waiting for arraignment.

Unless you’ve been one of the handful of fans aligned on either side of the happenings with these two, you might not know the broad strokes of what’s gone on. There have been letters, tweets, suicide attempts, reality TV characters in and out, Instagram photos of injuries, and odd quotes from philosophers beamed from within jail cells.

Hang on and we’ll quickly bring you up to speed.

Christy Mack, born Christy Mackinday, is a porn star. She is known for her mohawk hair-do and many tattoos. Jon Koppenhaver was a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter who legally changed his name to “War Machine”. The two were a couple. They did a Hustler pictorial together back in January. Christy Mack has a tattoo on her back that reads “Property of War Machine”. Other porn stars have related tales of War Machine accompanying Mack to porn shoots and generally behaving as her manager.

Mack and Koppenhaver broke up, although he insists that he was going to ask her to marry him. In early August, Koppenhaver says that he showed up at Mack’s house in Las Vegas, planning to reconcile and ask her to marry him. He says he caught her in bed with another man and that this man attacked him. He says he was ambushed and forced to defend himself.

That man, Corey Thomas, and Christy Mack herself tell a different tale. They say Koppenhaver found Mack and Thomas there in her home, but that they were not doing anything untoward. They say Koppenhaver flew into a jealous rage and beat Thomas. They say he let him go after threatening him to not call police.

Mack then says that, after Thomas left, Koppenhaver started beating on her. She says he punched and kicked her repeatedly, poked her with a knife, cut her hair off with that knife, forced her to shower, and threatened to rape her. She says that she escaped when Koppenhaver went to her kitchen to get a new knife because the handle of the one he was using broke.

Mack says she called 911 from within her house, but was cut off. Police records indicate that they came to her neighborhood, but called at the neighbor’s home instead. Neighbors say they told police that they should check at Mack’s home, but they did not.

After Mack escaped, she ran to a nearby home and called police. She was taken to a hospital, but Koppenhaver left her house and was on the run.

Mack had many injuries, some of which could have been life-threatening. She had teeth broken out, her eye socket fractured, lacerations on her scalp, a lacerated liver, and injuries to her leg. She tweeted out pictures and details of her injuries and the events of the evening.

When news broke of the incident, Koppenhaver was hunted by police and a reward was offered. Dog the Bounty Hunter promised to find him. In the end, Koppenhaver was spotted by a woman in a hotel room in California near where he was hiding. She turned him in, but donated the reward money to a shelter for battered women.

Koppenhaver was extradited back to Vegas. Some of his fans began a smear campaign against Mack. One time she tweeted a photo of her and a female friend, saying that she had finally left her house and gone for ice cream wearing sweat pants and no makeup. The diehard War Machine supporters called her names and accused her of faking her injuries. Fans sent money, books, and letters to Koppenhaver in jail, coordinated by his brother on Twitter.

Koppenhaver sent letters and tweets saying that he was being falsely accused, that Mack deserved what happened to her, and that his life was over. A jailer found him trying to hang himself in his jail cell a few days before a scheduled hearing. He was put on suicide watch.

Christy Mack has been getting support from many people, including doctors and dental surgeons who have offered their services to help with her injuries. She has turned up at events for organizations that help battered women.

Koppenhaver’s defense team asked for and received a continuance of his first hearing, which the prosecution suspected of being am attempt to “ice the victim.” A few days ago, Koppenhaver finally sat in court as Christy Mack and her friend Corey Thomas related what happened that night in August. The judge noted that Koppenhaver laughed when Mack testified that he sexually assaulted her.

That brings you up to speed. Koppenhaver is due back in court Thursday for arraignment.

  • Christy Mack Testifies In Court Against War Machine In Preliminary Hearing

On November 14, porn star Christy Mack appeared in court to face her attacker, ex-boyfriend Jonathan Paul Koppenhaver aka War Machine. The MMA fighter reportedly sexually assaulted Mack and brutally beat her within inches of her life. War Machine allegedly smirked during Mack’s testimony, which prompted the judge to berate him. Mack was describing the incident which left her with 18 broken bones including a fractured rib, missing teeth, a broken nose, and a ruptured liver. When Mack said yes after she was asked by the prosecutor if there was sexual violence, War Machine started laughing.

The prosecution asked War Machine’s reaction to be put on record, and despite the fact that the defense objected to the request, Judge Melanie Andress-Tobiasson overruled and simply said, “I watched him laugh.” Mack also testified as to how War Machine had strangled her before and forced her to have sex. She also talked about how he threatened her and her family several times.

War Machine is currently battling 34 charges including attempted murder and kidnapping. “Throughout the entire thing, he had a knife. It was one of my kitchen steak knives…and, um, he cut my hair off with it,” Mack said in her testimony. A tape of Mack’s 911 call was also played during the trial. She was reportedly fighting through tears as she listened to her screams in the recording.

Mack was with her friend and former reality star, Corey Thomas, when the incident took place. Thomas also suffered a beating at the MMA fighter’s hands. “I was looking up at the ceiling, in Christy’s bathroom, thinking to myself: ‘Oh my God. I can’t believe I’m gonna die in Christy’s bathroom,’” Thomas said in his testimony.

The next hearing will be on Thursday, November 20. War Machine has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

  • Christy Mack Breaks Down During Testimony

Christy Mack Breaks Down During Testimony

Christy Mack reportedly had a difficult time on Friday during her testimony against ex-boyfriend Jonathan Koppenhaver, breaking down in tears as she recounted how he beat her and threatened her with a knife.

The model and adult film star upheld every count against Koppenhaver–an MMA fighter who goes by the name War Machine–and said she thought he was going to end her life. Koppenhaver, meanwhile, reportedly laughed during her testimony, which angered the judge. Mack said she was the victim of sexual abuse during their relationship, and one of the felony counts against Koppenhaver is sexual assault. He faces 33 more felony charges, which could get him life in prison. He will appear in court again on November 20.

Koppenhaver ran from authorities after the assault took place and was allegedly tracked to a hotel in Simi Valley. Mack suffered 18 broken bones around her eyes, a broken nose, several broken teeth, a broken rib, and a ruptured liver in the attack and has undergone surgery on her face and mouth in recent weeks to repair the damage.

2 days, 2 weeks, 4 weeks, and last night.  I've had several dentist visits to make eating more comfortable and make my smile look more normal. I still have a few more dental visits to go.  I've had my eyes checked out and made aware that I'm very lucky to have my vision where it is, since the muscle is tethered by the fragments from the blowout fracture in my left eye.  My multiple nose fractures will be fixed in the next couple of months. While they're fairly symmetrical, my nose is shifted on the inside and out causing breathing issues. (I also make everyone feel how my bone sticks out on the left side because it feels so weird.) My top lip will regain movement in less than 6 months… looking forward to using straws again.  My liver seems to be alright. I was admitted back to the hospital shortly after I was released the first time for some minor treatment, but I did not have to have surgery. While my face is starting to look decent again from the swelling going down, it is still not my own. Cutting what was left of my hair off, and losing 15 lbs(it's a lot when you're 5'1") made me feel even further away from myself. It's hard to look in the mirror every day and see someone you do not know. After having makeup done and dressing up for yesterday's charity event, I felt much better about how I look now. It made me feel more normal, and beautiful for the first time in a very long time. The event that I went to was for Face Forward. A non profit charity that funds surgeries for women and children that have been in horrible situations that require them to have reconstructive surgery. They are not funding me, my surgeries are being donated by other doctors. I met many wonderful people and look forward to working more with them in the future.

Koppenhaver says he was misunderstood and that he went to Mack’s residence that day to propose to her.

  • Christy Mack Testifies as War Machine Laughs in Court

The story of Christy Mack and War Machine has dragged on since August.

Last month, Christy Mack was supposed to get the chance to tell a judge in Las Vegas what happened to her on the night she was allegedly beaten by her MMA fighter ex-boyfriend.

But War Machine’s lawyers were able to get a continuance on that hearing, possibly hoping to make a deal with prosecution. The prosecution signaled that they were wary of the defense trying to “ice the victim” by delaying the hearing.

Jon Koppenhaver — who has legally changed his name to War Machine — was found in his jail cell in Vegas, attempting to hang himself. He wrote letters out to friends in which he said that Mack deserved what happened that night, and that charges against him were inflated.

But this week War Machine sat in a court room and faced Christy Mack on the stand for the first time since his arrest. He listened as she sobbed, relating the events of the night she was beaten.

He listened as she was asked by a prosecutor, “Was there sexual violence?”

    He heard her say, “Yes.”

Then War Machine laughed. The prosecution team saw it happen.

“Judge I would like the record to show that Mr. Koppenhaver is laughing and shaking his head,” the prosecutor said.

“Objection. He wasn’t laughing,” War Machine’s lawyer shot back.

But someone else had seen War Machine too.

“I watched him laugh,” said the judge.

Earlier in the day, the court had listened as Corey Thomas testified about the attack.

“My face was covered in dripping blood. She was very scared to death,” Corey Thomas said. He told the court that War Machine had let him go after admonishing him to not tell police.

Christy Mack told the court that War Machine had threatened to kill her and her family multiple times in the past. She described her injuries, which included a lacerated liver, broken bones in her face around her eyes, broken teeth, and injuries to her leg.

War Machine now faces arraignment in District Court on Thursday.

  • Christy Mack: War Machine’s Brother Stands by His Side

When Christy Mack’s ex, Jon Koppenhaver, was put on suicide watch after being found unresponsive in his jail cell with a bed sheet around his neck, the conversation about the famed domestic violence incident took a different turn.

Koppenhaver had reportedly sent a letter out to a friend prior to the attempt, which included this statement of apparent resignation:

“I refuse to live a parasitic life, relying on taxes and the generosity of friends for food and shelter, while never being able to give back. I always used to say, ‘You gotta know when the gig is up.’ I had a good run. I experienced more in my short life than 5 avg. men combined.”

After the suicide attempt was reported, Jon Koppenhaver’s brother Michael, who had apparently been somewhat estranged from Jon for a while, supported him and got word out to Jon’s fans about his condition. Michael Koppenhaver writes a blog called Words From a Nobody, and he posted this about “War Machine’s” suicide attempt.

“Imagine a solitary jail cell so quiet your thoughts sound like screams. The walls and floor so cold you can’t imagine ever feeling warmth again. A coldness so still that the energy of the room feels like a living death you can’t escape.

“Now imagine being a sad, sick, self-loathing person locked in this room for twenty-three hours a day with little to no human connection or interaction. Imagine knowing complete strangers hate you and are wishing death on you and your family because of a choice you made. Your hopeless mind rolling over and over on the concept that you may never be free again because of a decision you made in a moment you couldn’t handle or control.”

Michael himself has gotten death threats.

In his posts, he paints a picture of his brother as he sees him, not innocent, but flawed and troubled, in need of help. He speaks of mental illness and frailty. He posts videos showing the more humane side of a man who calls himself “War Machine.”

But he also implies that Jon Koppenhaver was pushed to his actions because Christy Mack did not support and understand his temper.

“I have a temper and I do my best to control it. My lady knows I have a temper, she accepts that about me and helps me do my best to control it. She knows what triggers my anger so she helps steer me away from situations where I may not make the best decisions. We are responsible for our own actions but in a partnership it is our responsibility to understand our partners, to nurture, help and love them. If your significant other is making you crazy, maybe it is time to make a change.”

Michael has retweeted articles about his brother’s claim that he was “ambushed” at Mack’s house that night. He railed against Christy Mack when she went out for ice cream in her sweat pants after being locked in the house for weeks.

But he is also clear about his opinion of what his brother allegedly did.

In Jon Koppenhaver’s would-be suicide note, he apologized to his brother, saying, “Sorry I wasn’t a better brother. Don’t let the Koppenhaver name die Mike, its all you.”

While Jon Koppenhaver has not done much to endear himself to any but his most die-hard fans, and other assorted misogynists who think being a porn star means you should expect to get pummeled, he is also someone’s brother. War Machine may well be prosecuted for what he is accused of, hopefully for no more than that — justice is only served if it meets its limit. But a man like Michael Koppenhaver, who is finding it in himself to stand with his broken brother, should be allowed to find his way without being threatened.

  • Christy Mack’s Ex, War Machine, Quotes New Age Book and Bible, Talks Forgiveness

Christy Mack is still recovering from the beating she allegedly received at the hands of her ex-boyfriend, Jon Koppenhaver. With a hearing she was supposed to attend postponed, and Koppenhaver under suicide watch, things have been a bit up in the air for Mack.

Koppenhaver had been able to tweet out messages to fans before his suicide watch lockdown. The content of some of those messages, as well as the content of a suicide letter he sent out to a friend, seem to indicate that he feels he was wronged by Mack, that she needs his forgiveness, and that she deserved what she got in some way.

Koppenhaver talks about a book someone sent him in jail.

“On October 7th I received a book in the mail titled “The Disappearance of The Universe” and I’d like to thank whomever sent it. I’ve really been struggling in here, dealing with this seemingly out of the blue disaster that I have been blindsided by. My entire life I have fought “forgiveness”, plotted revenge and fantasized about carrying it out…it was just my personality. Well, my entire life I have also been plagued with shit luck. No matter how much I thought I was trying to change, I was still ending up with the same results…my grandmother always told me that hate was poison; others have told me that ‘negativity’ will attract more negativity… I labeled all of that faggotry and pushed on. Well, I’m done trying the same tactics that have failed me over and over again.”

The book Koppenhaver refers to is The Disappearance of the Universe: Straight Talk about Illusions, Past Lives, Religion, Sex, Politics, and the Miracles of Forgiveness, by Gary Renard. It is often classified as a New Age book.

The book purports to be a record of multiple contacts the author had with two “ascended masters,” humans who have achieved enlightenment and no longer endure the cycle of rebirths. Their names are Arten, a man, and Pursah, a woman. The author claims they “materialized out of nowhere” and that he recorded his encounters with these two beings, but the recordings were destroyed.

During his sessions with these two, they tell him, “An ascended master is everywhere. You just can’t always see them. We seldom project more than one bodily image of ourselves at one time, and it’s always for teaching purposes.”

Their teaching consists of a long “course” that he studies and is to pass along to others, his readers.

Renard further claims that these masters once teleported him about 30 miles instantly, and one of them claimed to have been the Apostle Thomas in a past life.

With this setting, the book stresses that all humans are essentially one identity, and that forgiveness is paramount, since not forgiving another is not forgiving yourself.

With these thoughts in mind, Koppenhaver composed his tweet. He goes on to say:

“I want to be happy; I want to live a happy life. Will forgiveness work like magic? I dunno, that’d be great if it did though. One thing it can’t do, is hurt. In fact, I’m pretty sure it will most likely speed up my healing process either way. Maybe all of this happened just so that I’d make this one important change. I will apologize in advance if my lack of hate will make me less entertaining; but at the end of the day, where has my past attitude really gotten me?”

He then interjected a quote from the Bible.

“I read some Bible quote the other day: ‘It’s easy to see a splinter in someone else’s eye, but hard to see the log in your own.’”

Koppenhaver talks about the concept of forgiveness further. He posits that, as a blended identity, he, Mack, and the other man attacked at her home, all “deserve” what happened, yet are also “all innocent at the same time.”

Koppenhaver refers to this as a “new way of thinking” that he hopes “to use, out there in the real world.”

  • Christy Mack: War Machine Says Mack “Deserved This”

Ever since the news of Christy Mack’s alleged beating at the hands of Jon Koppenhaver, AKA War Machine, people have been divided into two camps: fans or supporters of Christy Mack, and fans or supporters of Koppenhaver.

Mack’s case has become a rallying cry for opponents of domestic violence. She has tweeted photos of her recovery, listed details about her injuries and the surgeries she is undergoing to fix the damage.

Meanwhile, Koppenhaver has friends in the MMA fandom world. Not everyone supports him, of course. But there is a vocal bunch who do. They call Mack names, insult and shame her, and accuse her of faking the severity of her injuries.

Some of these people send money and letters to Koppenhaver in jail, thanks to his brother who coordinates those efforts. Not all who support him are abusive, but some are.

When Koppenhaver attempted suicide recently, an event that seemed to coincide with Mack’s latest batch of recovery photos, that vocal bunch lashed out at Christy Mack.

Now Koppenhaver is reaching out to his fans, and he has a message for them:

Christy Mack deserved this, but leave her alone. He tweeted:

“I have cheated on women, I have lied, I have hurt people, and I have slept with women in relationships. Nobody is innocent, we have all earned the pain we receive, and if you look hard enough, you will find it. When you find that you truly are the one responsible for it all, it really hurts, the guilt is devastating…forgiving yourself at that point then becomes even harder than forgiving the ones who originally ‘wronged you’.

“If you are a fan of mine please don’t harass Christy, just let her be. Don’t respond to all the people spewing hate against me. If you’re a fan of mine, just please analyze and learn from my situation, and apply it to your own life.

“I deserved this, she deserved this, he deserved this, and we are also all innocent at the same time. I just hope to one day have the opportunity to put this new way of thinking to use, out there in the real world. I can’t wait until this court nightmare is over and I can begin the next chapter in my life.”

While seeming to be apologetic for what he is charged with doing, Koppenhaver somehow comes to the conclusion that Mack “deserved this.”

In the past, he has also written that he ‘forgives her’ for what she did to him.

The matter is in the hands of the courts in Clark County, Nevada now. Unless Koppenhaver’s defense team can cut the deal they want.

  • Christy Mack: War Machine Pre-Suicide Letter Made Public

After a few weeks of relatively quiet recuperation, the Christy Mack case hit the headlines again over the weekend. First came the revelation on Thursday that the hearing scheduled for Friday was postponed so that Jon Koppenhaver’s defense team could review the charges and try to cut a deal with the prosecution.

Christy Mack herself posted an Instagram picture and message about her recent surgeries and recovery progress. She was dogged, yet again, in forums and replies by fans of Koppenhaver.

Then came the news of Tuesday night, when a guard at the Clark County Jail where Koppenhaver is housed found him in the middle of an apparent suicide attempt. Koppenhaver’s attempt was foiled, but how this may affect his defense and charges against him remains to be seen. The jail staff did find a suicide note at the scene.

Now TMZ has released photocopies of a letter that Koppenhaver sent to a friend in the days before his suicide attempt. While it is not the suicide note he left behind in the jail, but it does appear to speak to that and to his charges.

The note begins with a quote from Nietzsche.

“To die proudly when it is no longer possible to live proudly.”

The quote is from Nietzsche’s Twilight of the Idols. In full, the original quote reads:

”To die proudly when it is no longer possible to live proudly. Death of one’s own free choice, death at the proper time, with a clear head and with joyfulness, consummated in the midst of children and witnesses: so that an actual leave-taking is possible while he who is leaving is still there.”

Nietzsche’s book touched on a variety of philosophical topics. The most popular phrase from the book is not one of suicidal resignation, but of defiant strength: “What does not kill me makes me stronger.”

Nevertheless, Koppenhaver goes on to tell his friend:

“If you are reading this it must be a rap [sic]. I refuse to live a parasitic life, relying on taxes and the generosity of friends for food and shelter, while never being able to give back. I always used to say, ‘You gotta know when the gig is up.’ I had a good run. I experienced more in my short life than 5 avg. men combined.”

He then goes on to say what appear to be a series of good-byes to various people, including Christy Mack herself, whom he addresses as “Christy, My One”.

“I truly love you and planned on being with you forever… Finding what I found that night was devastating for me… not just the unfaithfulness, but the way U [sic] cared for him and protected him. Not a day goes by that I don’t wish that you weren’t hurt that night, I hope you know that. If I could do it all over again I’d just have laid down and let him beat me up. I forgive you, please forgive me, I love you. In hard times know that I am there to lean on.”

He continues his messages to various friends he names — Zsannett, Michael (his brother), Shannah, Melissa, Amanda, his grandfather, and a string of other friends. In several of them, he talks of watching over them and his strength being with them.

He speaks of the charges against him and the possibility of Christy Mack testifying against him.

“They wanna charge me with battery and DV [domestic violence]? Fine, do it, but don’t railroad me with B.S. fantasy charges like: Rape! Attempted murder! Kidnapping! and Burglary! It’s fucking ridiculous and it’s making it impossible for justice. I’m a good person with a huge heart and everyone who knows me knows that, especially Christy. I don’t know what has happened to her but I’m not gonna watch the woman I love go on the stand and tell painful lies about me. I don’t know if her scumbag agent is making her do this for $/publicity, or if the D.A. is just pressuring her/scaring her, or what.”

Interestingly, within this letter, Koppenhaveer never apologizes for what he allegedly did to Mack. He apologizes to his brother and grandfather for not being a “better brother” and “letting you down”, respectively.

He speaks about pain only in regard to “painful lies” that Mack might tell on the witness stand about him. In fact, regarding Mack he says, “I don’t know what has happened to her” and speaks of her injuries as though he were not involved, saying, “Not a day goes by that I don’t wish that you weren’t hurt that night.” His only request for forgiveness from her is paired with his own statement that he feels the need to also forgive her.

He then says, “I was never meant to live in this era anyway.”

You can see the photocopied note in Koppenhaver’s handwriting here [PDF].

  • Christy Mack Attacked by War Machine Fans as He Is on Suicide Watch

Today was to have been the day that Christy Mack and her friend Corey Thomas were to testify in a hearing about the night they both were allegedly attacked and beaten by Mack’s ex-boyfriend Jonathan Koppenhaver — AKA War Machine — a former MMA fighter.

But Koppenhaver’s defense team managed to secure a delay, telling the justice of the peace that they needed more time to look at the charges against him. The prosecution warned that this might be a delay intent on “icing the victim”, convincing Mack and Thomas not to testify. Koppenhaver was not present for that motion before the judge.

Then came the news that Koppenhaver had apparently attempted suicide Tuesday night. According to News3 in Las Vegas, where Koppenhaver is jailed awaiting trial, Koppenhaver “was found unresponsive by a corrections guard making cell checks about 9:30 p.m. at the county jail.”

An email to the news station from Metro Officer Jose Hernandez further said:

“On Oct. 14, at approximately 9:30 p.m., a corrections officer was conducting routine walk-throughs inside the Clark County Detention Center when he noticed inmate Koppenhaver in a seated position on the floor with his feet resting on the bunk.”

The officer saw what looked like a torn bedsheet around Koppenhaver’s neck and tied around the leg of his bunk. He did not respond to calls from the officer. The officer entered Koppenhaver’s cell, cut him free from the linen “noose”, and Koppenhaver began to breathe better and try to talk.

Koppenhaver was placed on suicide watch in a special cell with no items that he could make another attempt with. He had left behind a suicide note.

Christy Mack had recently posted another Instagram picture of herself in recovery from the beating she allegedly received from Koppenhaver. She also had posted a message about her progress.

But War Machine still has some die-hard fans out there who seem to think that Christy Mack is faking the severity of her injuries, or just believe that she deserved it. These paragons of societal virtue like to post in MMA forums. Some of their comments include.

“Missing teeth was actually an advantage in her field of work.” – maxbrothersinc

“I’m sure WM wasn’t the first guy to kick her ass, just the best at it.” – CracklinsRgood4U

“awe [sic], that’s great! She will be up and whoring in no time!” – Tubarao

The thread containing these comments has been removed. A new thread about War Machine’s suicide attempt is there. Not all MMA fans are sympathetic to War Machine. They responded to the news of his suicide attempt this way:

“Sympathy move. Fuck off. Lock him up.”

“Good, don’t want him getting off that easy. He can enjoy his next shitty decade in jail and when he gets out he’ll be too old to compete and have nothing.”

“what a dumbass, fails at life and fails at killing himself lol”

“Glad they caught it. He shouldn’t get off the hook that easy.”

“The guy is a fucking rabid dog, and can’t operate in our society. He is a danger to the public, and even the prison inmates and staff. If he offs himself, it guarantees he won’t harm anyone ever again, and that is a good thing. There was an article posted on the OG today about a violent offender who was released from prison and murdered his own elderly mother two days later. You don’t think WM is capable of something like that? Fuck this guy.”

  • Christy Mack: Alleged Attacker Attempts Suicide

Christy Mack posted photos on Instagram last week updating her fans as to her recovery after being brutally beaten, allegedly at the hands of ex-boyfriend and MMA fighter War Machine. Just a few days later, War Machine attempted suicide in his jail cell.

Mack suffered 18 broken bones around her eyes, a broken nose, several broken teeth, a broken rib, and a ruptured liver in the attack, which reportedly occurred after War Machine paid a visit to her home while she was there with a friend. War Machine, whose real name is Jonathan Koppenhaver, said later that he went there to propose to her.

Koppenhaver went on the run after the attack, but was arrested soon after and has been awaiting a hearing on charges of attempted murder, sexual assault, battery, coercion, preventing or dissuading a witness or victim from reporting a crime, and first-degree kidnapping resulting in substantial bodily harm. On Tuesday morning, he was found in his cell with a suicide note after an attempted hanging with a bed sheet.

Mack has reportedly been ready to testify against Koppenhaver at a hearing, but it is unclear what the timeline will be now that he’s in medical isolation. She posted a new photo earlier this month showing the progress in her recovery, which is slow going due to severe injuries to her eye, nose, and mouth. The adult film actress says she was unable to chew or speak properly and was unable to see correctly out of one eye for several weeks after the assault.

  • Christy Mack Ready to Testify Tomorrow; But War Machine Looks for a Deal

Christy Mack is ready to face War Machine in court. But War Machine may be looking for time to cut a deal.

The former porn star, who police say was brutally beaten by her MMA-figher ex-boyfriend Jonathan Koppenhaver — AKA War Machine — was slated to testify against him in a hearing tomorrow. But Koppenhaver’s attorney is asking for more time.

Koppenhaver’s defense lawyer, Brandon Sua, asked Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Melanie Tobiasson for more time to put together what he called “a plea deal to resolve the case … without further litigation and pretrial proceedings.”

Chief Deputy District Attorney Jacqueline Bluth said Mack and her friend Corey Thomas, who was also allegedly beaten by Koppenhaver, are ready to testify now. But she added that “the state is always willing to take into consideration any information the defense would like to present.”

Koppenhaver’s attorneys say that some of the charges he is up against now are not even related to the assault on Mack and Thomas, but are from 15 months prior.

In the end, Tobiasson postponed Friday’s hearing for another month, leaving Koppenhaver to cool his heels in the Vegas jail without bail while his legal team reviews the charges against him.

But the prosecution was wary of the postponement. They stress that this had better not be an attempt by the defense to wait the victims out and hope they heal up and grow weary of fooling with the court proceedings. This is commonly called “icing the victim”.

“It is not going to work,” Bluth said. “The victim is always going to be cooperative with us. Both victims in this case want to get this process going.”

Koppenhaver has to weigh his options carefully. He faces over thirty years in prison if all his charges stick and result in a conviction. Those include attempted murder, sexual assault, battery, coercion, preventing or dissuading a witness or victim from reporting a crime, and first-degree kidnapping resulting in substantial bodily harm.

  • Christy Mack Out of Surgery Today, Testifies Against War Machine Soon

Porn star and domestic abuse awareness champion Christy Mack still has a long road ahead of her. After her alleged beating at the hands of ex-boyfriend and MMA fighter, Jonathan Koppenhaver, who goes by the name War Machine, Mack was left with life-threatening injuries.

The saga of bringing her attacker to justice continues still. Mack is slated to testify against War Machine on October 17, at a preliminary hearing. War Machine faces life in prison without parole if convicted.

Recently, Mack tweeted an update to her fans, which included four photos documenting her recovery up to that point. She also included some details about her injuries that had not yet been released.

“I’ve had several dentist visits to make eating more comfortable and make my smile look more normal. I still have a few more dental visits to go. I’ve had my eyes checked and made aware that I’m very lucky to have my vision where it is, since the muscle is tethered by the fragments from the blowout fracture in my left eye. My multiple nose fractures will be fixed in the next couple of months. While they’re fairly symmetrical, my nose is shifted on the inside and out causing breathing issues (I also make everyone feel how my bones stick out on the left side because it feels so weird). My top lip will regain movement in less than six months … looking forward to using straw again.

“My liver seems to be alright. I was admitted back to the hospital shortly after I was released the first time for some minor treatment, but I did not have surgery.”

Today, Mack tweeted that she was “out of surgery and resting”. She had previously said she had surgery coming, but did not specify what that was for.

  • Christy Mack: New Pic, New Info, New Video

Christy Mack, the pornstar who was allegedly beaten within an inch of her life by her ex-boyfriend, an MMA fighter who calls himself War Machine, has given her supportive fans a treat.

Mack had posted details of her attack to Twitter back on August 11. That tweet included graphic pictures of her injuries and her account of the timeline of the night. Since then, Mack has been fairly silent. She responds to tweets and direct messages, but posts little of her own accord.

One picture of her after the attack that made it to Twitter got her a lot of grief from War Machine’s fans and supporters, people who believe she faked her injuries, or the severity of them.

According to her own account and reports, Mack had broken and missing teeth, broken bones around her eyes, a broken nose, a ruptured liver, and stab wounds to her head and hands. She was getting dental surgery to repair and replace missing teeth, but she was badly bruised and cut up.

No one expected her to show her face in public or on social media anytime soon.

But in the past few days, Mack posted an update for her fans.

“2 days, 2 weeks, 4 weeks, and last night. I’ve had several dentist visits to make eating more comfortable and make my smile look more normal. I still have a few more dental visits to go. I’ve had my eyes checked out and made aware that I’m very lucky to have my vision where it is, since the muscle is tethered by the fragments from the blowout fracture in my left eye,” she said.

“My multiple nose fractures will be fixed in the next couple of months. While they’re fairly symmetrical, my nose is shifted on the inside and out causing breathing issues.

“Cutting what was left of my hair off, and losing 15 lbs(it’s a lot when you’re 5’1″) made me feel even further away from myself. It’s hard to look in the mirror every day and see someone you do not know. After having makeup done and dressing up for yesterday’s charity event, I felt much better about how I look now. I met many wonderful people and look forward to working more with them in the future.”

TMZ was at the Face Forward event Mack mentions. She spoke to them there.

“It was a little bit of a rough recovery, it’s been about a month now, I was in a lot of pain at first but now I’m feeling really good. I just have a couple more surgeries to go through with my nose and a few of my mouth, but past that I think I’ll be okay,” Mack said.

“I look fairly decent for what happened,” she told TMZ.

  • Christy Mack Beating Case: A Safe-for-Work Rundown of the Porn Star’s Harrowing Tale

Perhaps you’ve seen the headlines about the porn star whose mixed martial arts boyfriend allegedly beat her within an inch of her life. Until the elevator footage of Ray Rice knocking his wife out cold surfaced, resulting in his lifetime ban from the NFL, it was the topic of conversation in domestic violence circles.

But, let’s be honest, an NFL player gets more screen and page time than a porn star. Most people probably don’t want to look at a headline featuring the words “porn star” at work, just in case the boss walks by or the fellows in IT don’t understand.

So, allow me to give you the Cliff’s Notes version of the Christy Mack story. Because, believe you me, it’s not over.

Pornstar Christy Mack alleges that she was at her Las Vegas home with a male friend when her ex-boyfriend, MMA fighter Jon Koppenhaver, also known as “War Machine,” burst in, beat on her friend, and then put her through an evening of torturous hell.

In a Twitter post detailing the incident, Mack says War Machine made her shower, threatened to rape her, beat her badly, stabbed her, and cut off her hair. She says she escaped out her back door while he rummaged through her kitchen for a knife, since he had broken the handle off another while hacking her hair off.

Mack ran to another house in her neighborhood and called police. She was taken to the hospital, where her injuries were detailed and treatment begun. A manhunt for War Machine started. He tweeted that Christy Mack was his “property,” a term that she herself had tattooed on her body: “Property of War Machine”.

Porn star friends and fans came out of the woodwork to support her. An online fundraiser was started to pay for her medical care that insurance might not cover. A reward was offered for War Machine’s arrest. Dog the Bounty Hunter threatened to go after War Machine. In the end, War Machine was reported by a woman in a California hotel who spotted him. He was arrested, and she donated the reward to a battered women’s shelter.

War Machine was booked and then extradited back to Nevada. He is charged with attempted murder and a laundry list of other charges. He could face life in prison.

An online battle has brewed up between War Machine’s supporters and Christy Mack’s. A picture was posted to Twitter that allegedly showed Mack “out on the town” in Vegas. War Machine fans decried her as a liar and said she faked her injuries. Mack responded that she had been bedridden and in one room for days, and had simply gone out with a friend, wearing sweatpants and no makeup, to get ice cream then return home.

War Machine’s brother has defended him on his own Twitter account, posting his brother’s jail info so supporters can send him money and letters.

Now new info has emerged that Christy Mack actually did place a 911 call from within her home, on her cell phone, earlier in the timeline of the beating. Cops responded to the wrong address, ignored a tip to check at her home, and left the neighborhood.

  • Christy Mack Shares Recovery Updates With Fans

Christy Mack, the woman who was allegedly beaten by an MMA fighter, is on the mend and sharing photos of her recovery with her friends and fans online.

Several weeks ago, Mack was allegedly attacked by her ex-boyfriend, MMA fighter War Machine. Mack was reportedly left with 18 broken bones and several broken teeth. She also had a ruptured liver.

Mack is recovering but is still not able to move her upper lip, and may not be able to do so for at least six months. The swelling and bruising in her face was severe and Mack lost a lot of weight because she is unable to eat well due to her facial injuries.

Luckily Mack is recovering and doctors recently determined that her liver was not damaged as badly as they originally thought and will not require surgery.

Still, Mack has a long way to go in terms of a full recovery and she has been keeping her friends and fans updated on her condition via Instagram and Twitter.

Police were able to locate War Machine a short time after the attack and took him into custody. He claims that he is not guilty of the abuse charges and will go to trial for sentencing in October.

Hopefully Christy will continue to make great progress with her recovery and get all of the treatment and support that she needs.

  • Christy Mack Recovering, Still Can’t Move Mouth Properly

Christy Mack shared photos of herself over the weekend, saying she was able to get dressed up and go out for the first time since her ex-boyfriend, MMA fighter War Machine, allegedly beat and tortured her but that she still has a long way to go before she’s fully recovered.

Mack, who reportedly suffered 18 broken bones around her eyes, a broken nose, several broken teeth, a broken rib, and a ruptured liver in the attack, says she still can’t move her top lip properly and won’t be able to for about another six months. She also said that due to facial swelling and the amount of weight she’s lost since the incident, she doesn’t recognize herself, and that has been a difficult part of recovery.

Mack appeared at an event for Face Forward, a non-profit charity that benefits women and children who need reconstructive surgery. Charities that help victims of abuse are close to her heart, and she posted on Twitter that some of the money raised for her medical bills via Give Forward will go towards helping others.

War Machine, who went on the run after the alleged assault, was captured without incident by police soon after but is pleading not guilty to the charges against him. He will be sentenced next month.

  • Christy Mack New Info: The Cops Were Next Door While She Was Beaten?

Some new information has emerged in the timeline of Christy Mack’s beating and escape. According to a couple of Christy Mack’s neighbors, police hung up on them when they tried to call about her beating.

But further details in the timeline of the night make things even worse.

Dashanka Giraldo, whose home Mack ran to when she escaped her house, said, “It took cops 15 to 20 minutes to get to the neighborhood, which is just way too long.”

He also says they had trouble getting the police to respond at all when they called.

“My mother called the cops and they hung up on her,” says Giraldo. “Christy called cops, as well. They hung up on her too.”

That call from Christy Mack that Giraldo refers to happened two hours earlier on her cell phone from within her home during the altercation. Police say that the call cut off. They called back, but got no answer.

Using a system that can help them locate the source of a cell phone call to 911, the police went to the neighborhood to try to find who had called. But, due to a technical glitch, they ended up within 100 feet of Mack, at the wrong house.

The owner of that house had more to reveal.

“It was around 2:30 a.m. I had been sleeping. My fiancée came in and said, ‘The cops are here; they got a 911 call from this address,’” said the neighbor.

“We made a comment that they may want to go next door [to Mack’s house] for some personal reasons that we knew about,” said the neighbor.

But the cops did not go to Mack’s house. This was at 2:30 a.m. At that time, Mack was allegedly being beaten and tortured by War Machine inside her home, less than 100 feet from police officers who were tipped to go check on her.

“I think if they had gone over there at 2:30 a.m., they would have stopped it before it got the way that it did,” said the neighbor.

  • Christy Mack Quiet; War Machine Fans Encouraged to Send Him Mail and Money in Jail

Pornstar Christy Mack has not posted a tweet of her own since August 26, when she spoke about seeing a dental surgeon to have her teeth fixed. She has, however, replied to tweets and engaged people in direct messaging. Perhaps she had advice from attorneys to go quiet.

Ever since Mack was allegedly beaten by her ex-boyfriend, MMA fighter “War Machine” in what she characterizes as a jealous rage, and he calls “fighting for my life”, public opinion has been largely on her side.

War Machine now faces life in prison if convicted on the attempted murder charge he is facing.

Recent news about Ray Rice’s ouster from professional football over a video that allegedly shows him punching his wife in an elevator has further enflamed the conversation about domestic violence.

One of the toughest parts about discussing domestic violence is the tendency of people to ask questions of the victim, such as “Why didn’t you leave? Why would you stay around with him doing that to you?”

Victim’s advocates are quick to point out that such questioning implies that the victim bears some responsibility or blame for their beatings.

But supporters of War Machine take this to a far deeper level when discussing Christy Mack’s injuries. They outright accuse her of faking the severity of her injuries.

Even War Machine’s brother got in on the pile-on, reacting to the news that Christy Mack was up and about.

Other fans of War Machine are still claiming she faked her injuries.

Some have gotten War Machine’s mailing address in care of the detention facility that he is being held in and are sending money to his account so he can buy things from the jail. His brother is providing that information and asking fans and supporters to send mail and money.
