  • Bond 24 Has Found Its New Villain, Christoph Waltz To Play Role

Bond 24, which is the working title for the new James Bond film, has found its villain. According to The Daily Mail, Christoph Waltz has signed on to play a character who is believed to be the antagonist in the film. “It’s not immediately evident whether the part’s friend, or foe, or a bit of both,” The Daily Mail’s Baz Bamigboye said. One thing’s for sure though, the character he will play is a cunning “nemesis of sorts”.

The role that will played by Waltz in Bond 24 is reportedly the same role Chiwetel Ejiofor was previously in talks for before he dropped out of the project. Aside from Waltz, Lea Seydoux of Blue Is the Warmest Color will be joining the film as a femme fatale while wrestler, Dave Bautista, who starred in the box office hit Guardians of the Galaxy, will be playing the key henchman.

Sam Mendes will be directing Bond 24, which is a direct follow-up to the highly successful Skyfall. Daniel Craig will reprise his role as James Bond and he will be joined by returning cast members Ben Whishaw, Ralph Fiennes, and Naomie Harris, who will be playing the roles of Q the quartermaster, M, and Miss Moneypenny respectively.

According to The Daily Mail, the cast of Bond 24 will be meeting for a script read-through before they start shooting in December. Sam Mendes will be present as well as the film’s writers to talk the cast through the film’s key moments including the action sequences.

Because of his involvement with Bond 24, Waltz won’t be joining Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight, which will begin shooting at around the same time as the 007 flick. It is worth noting that Waltz collaboration with Tarantino on the films Inglorious Basterds and Django Unchained has been fruitful to say the least.

Bond 24 is scheduled to be released on November 16, 2015.

  • Maleficent’s Wings Showcased in New Trailer

If the world heard about a movie containing an evil, dark fairy, castles, armies, magical forest creatures, and even a dragon, all of geekdom would potentially explode with sheer excitement. Luckily for all of those fantasy fans, that movie is soon to hit theaters, albeit from a studio most would not believe.

Disney’s Maleficent is scheduled to hit theaters on May 30, and, if the new trailer is any indication of the epicness of said movie, the wait may be too much to handle.

We all know the original story of Maleficent as portrayed by the 1959 Disney classic, Sleeping Beauty. The “Mistress of All Evil” shows up for the christening of the king’s daughter, Aurora, and expresses her displeasure of not being invited by cursing Aurora to prick her finger on a spinning wheel after he 16th birthday and die.

What we don’t learn in the original Disney classic, however, is why Maleficent is so upset. Surely the lack of an invitation to a christening is not enough to cause one to want to kill a child? Also, why is Maleficent the only fairy in the movie to not have wings?

In a trailer released today, audiences learn that Maleficent did indeed once have wings – that is, until they were stolen from her. Why they were stolen is not answered in the trailer, but one could make a properly educated guess that the source of removal is a main motivating factor for Maleficent’s actions.

While the scenes of Maleficent flying are visually breathtaking, filming them was no easy task, according to Jolie: “You’re almost like a puppet with all these people moving (beneath you). When you go to the left or the right all of you have to move together. It’s a big dance with a lot of people.”

Actually flying may have been a difficult feat to achieve, but Jolie hated the preparation to get to that point even more: “She [Jolie’s trainer] made me do yoga. And I have no patience for yoga. It’s not something I do easily, because I’m not a still person. But I was forced to do yoga because (to fly) you have to have your core strength to be able to hold yourself.”

Despite the difficulty to make the new vision of Maleficent come to life, Jolie believes the pay-off will be more than worthwhile:

“She has a darkness. And how do you make a film about someone who curses a baby and make them relatable? It’s like the worst thing you could possibly do! But I think the script that Linda [Woolverton (‘The Lion King’)] wrote, has quite a deep understanding… The exercise wasn’t how can we have fun with a villain? It was: what turns people evil and vile and aggressive and cruel. What could have possibly happened to her that would get her to that moment in the christening? She wasn’t invited, so she’s pissed off?”

Maleficent, coming to theaters May 30, seeks to answer these 55-year-old questions and more.

  • Scarlet Witch Close To Being Cast

Scarlet Witch Close To Being Cast

If you aren’t exactly sure who might be selected to play the Scarlet Witch in Avengers 2: Age of Ultron, then you’re not alone. In fact, the actress who could potentially be slated to fill the role isn’t sure herself. Joss Whedon’s adaptation of the immensely popular Marvel hit franchise has taken some recent twists with finding the perfect candidate to fill these big shoes. Original whispers for who would fill the part for Wanda Maximoff (AKA the Scarlet Witch) concentrated on Saoirse Ronan until the talented actress refused the part. Now, other rumors are circulating concerning another incredibly talented actress, Elizabeth Olsen. Initially known as the younger sister of the adorable Full House twins, Mary Kate and Ashley, Lizzie (her Twitter persona) has also garnered recognition on her own.

She has established herself as a uniquely talented actress in such films as Liberal Arts and Martha Marcy May Marlene. It’s no wonder the rumors are spreading like wildfire. However, the actress has yet to officially claim any connection with the upcoming film, even when directly confronted about the possibilities by her fans through Twitter.

Lizzie Olsen said that she will be devoting some of her future endeavors toward work on Broadway even though she will not definitively comment on the possibility of playing the Scarlet Witch.

The Scarlet Witch, an infamous character within the X-Men Marvel Mutant world, is responsible for the destruction wrought from M-Day. Her evil ancestry includes Magneto for a father as well as being sister to Polaris and Quicksilver. Now, the only thing left to ponder is who could play Quicksilver? If rumors are to be believed that could be Aaron Taylor-Johnson of Kick-Ass fame and fellow Elizabeth Olsen costar for the 2014 yet-to-be-released Godzilla.
