YouTube Subscription Fees May Soon Be A Reality
Are YouTube subscription fees almost upon us? A recent report suggests that the oft rumored feature is soon to be announced.
The Daily Mail reports that Google will introduce a YouTube subscription fee this week. The new initiative will allow channels to monetize their content with direct contributions from fans, instead of relying upon ad revenue.
The current report suggests that Google will add 25 to 50 channels to the initial rollout of its subscription service. It will also reportedly cost as little as $2 a month per channel, and doing so will provide a few perks to the subscribers. The biggest, of course, is exclusive content only available to subscribers. The videos will also reportedly be ad-free.
The current rumors, however, don’t address what YouTube intends to offer to non-subscribers. Will subscriber content only be available to those who pay? Or will YouTube allow non-subscribers to watch some content with the support of advertising?
Alongside channel subscriptions, previous rumors also suggested that YouTube would begin monetizing live events. In other words, users could pay a small fee to watch major live events, like the Red Bull Stratos Jump from last year.
There’s still too many variables to even think about with a platform as big as YouTube. The announcement is expected to come sometime this week though. We’ll continue to keep an eye for any such announcement, and bring you all the details as soon as it happens.

Foul-Mouthed Kid Loves Hot Cheetos, Is Probably Yelling at You on Xbox LIVE Right Now
This is a kid. If you have a kid, and it’s not this kid, congratulations. Right now, this kid is probably calling you a queer on Xbox LIVE. When this kid grows up, he’s probably going to make people feel very uncomfortable in subways.
Despite what the title of this video says, this is not the funniest thing ever. I don’t even have a problem with the kid’s foul mouth. F*ck it, he’s right. Flamin’ hot cheetos are awesome. But don’t hate on banana chips, bro. They’re sweet, plus they have, like, mad potassium. Plus, who ever told him to drink ketchup? That’s just bad parenting.

When Google’s ‘I’m Feeling Lucky’ Works
One of the popular videos on reddit today comes under the headline, “I went to check out Google Palestine, entered random Arabic letter and clicked ‘I’m feeling lucky’. This is the result.”
One user comments, “Thank you so much op. I have been searching for this video for years.”
Another responds, “Same here. I’ve never seen it before though.”
Well done, Google.

Russian Dash Cams Sometimes Capture the Good in Humanity, See?
Russia’s numerous highways and byways have a reputation of being full of crazy stuff. Much of the reputation is perpetuated by the omnipresent Russian dash cam, which seems to be attached to about every single automobile in Russia. Search YouTube for Russian dash cam, you’ll see what I mean.
But it’s not all explosions, crashes and such on Russian roads. Good stuff is happening too, as this beautiful compilation proves. Sure, there’s still a lot of crazy stuff happening, even when we see a good samaritan helping out his fellow man – but this is better than most of those videos you’ve seen, right?

The Walking Dead Gets a Bad Lip Reading
The latest installment of the always superb Bad Lip Reading takes on AMC’s hit zombie series The Walking Dead. Er…walkers, not zombies.
Anyway, it proves something I’ve been saying all along. This show would be so much better if the
zombieswalkers could talk. Seriously, just think about it. How hilarious/creepy would it be if mid-intestinal-foraging, one of thezombieswalkers just looked up and said something. Anything. And then went back to munching on flesh. Good thing we have BLR to finally give the dead some dialogue. And before you ask, yes, Andrea is just as annoying as always in this clip. -
The Human Condition Tracked via Google Autocomplete Is Sad, Beautiful, Sex-Obsessed
There is something poignant, and unnervingly beautiful about this. It’s also incredibly depressing in a way. Google’s autocomplete feature uses algorithms to suggest queries based on their popularity with other users, so when Google is suggesting something to you, just know that a whole hell of a lot of people have search it before you.
And that’s what makes this so…just…yeah:
“Using billions of searches, Google has prototyped an anonymous profile of its users. This reflects the fears, inquiries, preoccupations, obsessions and fixations of the human being at a certain age and our evolution through life,” says creator Marius B. Well said.
And just FYI, he made this video in a incognito window with no user signed in, no cookies, and with a deleted history. This is pretty much the human condition, visualized via Google autocomplete. Life really is all about sex.

PBS Avengers Assemble to Watch the World Learn
There’s a lot of crap television out there, but I’m sure you know that. Hell, you probably watch some of it. I know I’m guilty.
But there’s always room for the good stuff. The stuff that opens our eyes to the wonders of the world, and in the process makes us more human. To combat the decline into brain-melting mush, the PBS dream team of Bill Nye, Mr. Rogers, Carl Sagan, and Bob Ross assemble, Avengers style:

Eli Roth Thinks About Funding Films With Kickstarter
Director Eli Roth, whose Hemlock Grove was recently released as a Netflix original series, appeared on The Adam Carolla Show to discuss a variety of things. The topic of Kickstarter came up, and it sounds like this might be an avenue Roth could explore for getting films made in the future.
Thanksgiving anyone?
“This new Kickstarter thing is changing everything,” says Roth. “I’ve actually thought about funding movies this way, because you don’t have to pay back any investors, and then basically whatever the release plan is, like you own the movie one hundred percent, and you have nothing to lose. You don’t have to pay anybody back.”
Carolla also mentions that he’s shooting a Kickstarter video with Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston, so we’ll be on the lookout for that.

Crappy Stock Photography Gets the Anthem It Deserves
In my job and many jobs like it, stock photography is one of those necessary evils. Sure, the images are corny and contrived, but sometimes you just gotta use them.
Often, we will spend time browsing stock photo services, simply looking for the most ridiculous images available. Seriously, if you have access to any stock photo service, it’s worth your time. See how many dude-in-a-suit-with-his-legs-propped-up-on-his-desk-talking-on-the-phone photos you can find. Then, work your way to photos of women happily eating salad. Be careful, though – it’s a timesuck.
That’s why this song is so hilarious to me. Hopefully, you’ll find it just as funny.

The Matrix, as Told by Some Dude’s Mom Who Closed Her Eyes Through Half the Movie
Man, I love The Matrix. Remember when Leo and his girlfriend go to the computer whatever to rescue Moshimo? Ah man, that part was classic.
“My mom hadn’t seen (or heard of) the Wachowski’s classic sci-fi film The Matrix. We watched the entire movie together and right after she told me what it was all about,” says creator pixelspersecond.

Here’s A Dope Jam Kris Kross Did For Sprite Back In The Day
Chris Kelly, half of the famous rap duo Kris Kross, which rose to fame when Kelly (The Mac Daddy) and Chris Smith (The Daddy Mac) were just kids, has died of an apparent drug overdose.
Those of us at the right age to have been listening to Kris Kross in the early 90s when hits like “Jump,” “Warm it Up,” and “I Missed the Bus” were getting steady airplay, are taking some time to reflect on the joy Kris Kross once brought to our lives. That includes memories of backwards clothing, the legendary “Make My Video” for Sega CD, and of course, dope beats and rhymes.
One of Kris Kross’ forgotten classics actually comes in the form of an ad for Sprite. After all this time, I have yet to see Sprite release a better commercial.

LEGO Breaking Bad Looks Awesome and Hopefully If I Throw Money at My Computer It Will Happen
This is a no brainer, people-who-have-any-say-on-whether-or-not-this-ever-gets-made. Honestly, short of Bioshock: Baltimore starring Bunk and McNulty, I can’t even imagine a game that I would buy any quicker. Half Life 3?
In all seriousness, this is way cool. Love those LEGO games, love Breaking Bad even more. I totally want to control little LEGO Mike Ehrmantraut. Damn, now I really want to play something that doesn’t exist…yet.
“I have no affiliation with Traveller’s Tales, LEGO, or AMC. I’m just a huge fan of the stuff they make. But seriously, if they all got together and made this game, for real, I’d buy it and play the crap out of it,” says creator Brian Anderson.
Hell yeah, Who wouldn’t?

Dove Real Beauty Parody Proves Men Need a Similar Confidence Boost
Dove’s Campaign for Real Beauty worldwide marketing campaign is nearly a decade old, and in that time the company has spent millions on telling women that their natural beauty is just that – real beauty. Their latest viral campaign with that message, Dove Real Beauty Sketches, went viral earlier this month.
You may recall the video, which featured an artist comparing women’s perceptions of their physical appearance to descriptions from other people. In the end, it showed that people sell themselves short. You are most likely a lot more beautiful than you think you are. Great message. Well, men need that sort of confidence boost from time to time. Especially when it involves their balls. I don’t think that I have to explain that this excellent parody video is a little bit NFSW (some ball drawings):

Here’s Google’s New ‘Getting Started’ Video For Glass
It seems like only yesterday that Google was showing us the concept video for Glass, and now here we are with the “getting started” video showing people how to use it, because it exists.
While still not available to consumers (just the lucky chosen few), there are plenty of the devices out in the wild, and developers are working hard building apps.
Here’s a quick tutorial for how to basically use Glass that you could enjoy if you had the privilege of having one.

Matt Cutts On The SEO Mistakes You’re Making
In the latest Webmaster Help video from Google, Matt Cutts discusses the biggest mistakes that a lot of webmasters are making when it comes to SEO.
The top mistake, he says, is not making your site crawlable, which includes not having a domain.
After that, it’s not including the right words on the page. Think about what the user is going to type, and include those words, he says. Going further, also have the things that people would be likely to look for on the page. For example, include your business hours. If you’re a restaurant, inlclude a menu in plain text – not just a PDF.
The third thing is that people are thinking too much about “link building” when they should really just be thinking about creating compelling content and maketing (including things like talking to newspaper reporters).
The fourth thing is the lack of good titles and descriptions. Make sure you include something that makes people actually want to click on the search result, and something that will be helpful, should users bookmark the site. “Something that lets them know you’re going to have the answer they’re looking for – something that makes them understand this is a good resource,” says Cutts.
Finally, the other big mistake is not taking advantage of webmaster resources, including (but not limited to) Google’s own Webmaster Tools. Cutts also suggests following Google’s blogs and webmaster videos, attending search conferences, talking to people online (including in Google’s forums), and even mentions Blekko’s link tool. Basically, just follow the SEO industry.

Check Out This Shining-Inspired Film Ink Ad
Stanley Kubrick’s masterpiece The Shining continues to influence pop culture on a regular basis, and an ad from Australian film magazine Film Ink is the latest example.
The hype around the documentary Room 237 has no doubt played a role in much of the recent interest in the film, but The Shining will continue to inspire countless pieces of Internet fun for years to come, without a doubt.
With the new Film Ink ad, we can’t help but be reminded of this Channel 4 ad for The Stanley Kubrick Season from a few years back:
