  • Don’t Understand The 3D Printed Gun Controversy? Watch This Documentary

3D printed guns were viewed as more or less a curiosity when they first started to gain mainstream exposure last year. It wasn’t until the tragedies at Aurora and Sandy Hook that 3D printed firearms became a full blown controversy with gun control advocates calling for the renewal of the Undetectable Firearms Act, and opponents, namely Defense Distributed, pushing the boundaries of 3D printed weaponry.

It’s this latter party – Defense Distributed – that’s at the center of a recent documentary from Vice Magazine’s Motherboard. Cody Wilson, head of the non-profit organization, talks about Defense Distributed, his views on gun control and where 3D printers are headed.

You will either hate Wilson, or think he’s the only person standing in the way of tyranny . Either way, this is one of the best films you can watch about the 3D printed firearm revolution as seen through the eyes of one of its most outspoken proponents.

  • John McAfee Says He Is Safe In Guatemala, Plans Press Conference

John McAfee says he has made it safely to Guatemala, and will be meeting with officials in that country. He plans on doing a press conference. In the latest post on his blog, McAfee writes:

I apologize for all of the misdirections over the past few days. It was not easy to exit Belize and required many supporters in many countries. I am in Guatemala and will be meeting with Guatemalan officials this morning. If all goes well I will do a press conference tomorrow.

Vice Magazine reporters are indeed with me in Guatemala. Yesterday was chaotic due to the accidental release of my exact co-ordinates by an unseasoned technician at Vice headquarters. We made it to safety in spite of this handicap. I had to cancel numerous interviews with the press yesterday because of this and I apologize to all of those affected.

Vice had posted an image (pictured) under the title, “We are with John McAfee right now, suckers,” and the location data were found in the metadata.

In case you haven’t been following, McAfee is wanted by authorities in Belize for questioning in connection with the murder of his neighbor. He has been in hiding for weeks now. More backstory here.

  • Jose Canseco Hired To Write For Vice, Talks Gun Control

Jose Canseco has never been known as a guy who holds his tongue. He’s loud, he’s brash, and he writes things the way he thinks them. Unfortunately, he’s seen by many as a heavily-muscled jock with not much between the ears.

So when Vice Magazine announced they were hiring him to write a weekly column, people laughed. And Jose came back on Twitter with, “You clowns forget I am a two-time best selling author. How many people can say that?”

    Touche, Mr. Canseco.

At any rate, his first article is sure to draw some controversy no matter what people think of his writing style, because in it, he talks about gun control, the Aurora shootings, and whether or not James Holmes would have made it out of the theater alive had his victims been armed.

I truly believe, aggressively, that we have the right to bear arms. We should be able to carry guns to protect ourselves. Period. The funny thing is I don’t own any guns,” he continues, “but I would love to have a few—an Uzi and a street sweeper and a machine gun, maybe. I’d love to be able to carry a 9mm on me in a holster and just walk around. That’d be great. But you can’t in California, the state in which I live. And that’s bogus.

Canseco’s column–called “Jose Can Say So”–will run every Monday, so be sure to check in and find out what he has to say. You might be pleasantly surprised.
