Emma Watson Covers ‘Elle,’ Talks Jealousy

Emma Watson is stunning on the April cover of Elle magazine–even if she is decked out in denim. The shirt that is unbuttoned way down to there–well not there, but enough to entice–turns denim from drab to haute couture. And Watson’s tiny waist is accentuated with a belt that adds just enough bling to an otherwise boring ensemble. The sexy look in her eye says she’s no longer a child actor, but a bona fide grown woman instead.

Inside the pages of Elle, Harry Potter’s beloved Hermione talks about what makes her jealous.

Harry Potter fans will likely drop their jaws when they catch sight of the actress in April’s Elle, because there are several shots of Emma Watson in sultry poses and in one she wears a very sexy Versace swimsuit. There are definitely plenty of reasons for fans to run out and pick up a copy at their newsstands.

Did you know that Watson has been balancing acting and a wealth of personal appearances with going to college? She is set to graduate from Brown University in May. That’s quite an accomplishment given the ridiculous schedule the young actress is beholden to.

So what on earth could a beautiful, talented and highly intelligent young woman like Emma Watson possibly be jealous of? It goes back to when she first broke on to the acting scene.

“There are all these actresses who have emerged in the last year or two, and they get to emerge as this complete human being,” she said. “And I’m so jealous!”

Emma is referring to making her debut as a child. She didn’t like her hair or her teeth. And then growing up in the spotlight, she recalls emerging with bad haircuts or poorly chosen outfits, and she is jealous that some actresses have it so together when they first emerge.

Emma Watson needn’t worry. There was something very charming about the little girl no one had ever heard of, who went on for years to charm fans in her role as Hermione alongside Daniel Radcliffe in the Harry Potter films. Watson will soon make her return to the big screen in Noah, where she plays Shem’s wife. The film premieres in the U.S. on March 28th.

  • Gina Gershon Steps Into Fashion Designer Role For Lifetime

Gina Gershon might be the last person you’d think of when trying to come up with an actress to play Donatella Versace, but the “Showgirls” star is doing the job quite nicely.

Gershon has stepped right into the role of the fashion design icon for an upcoming Lifetime movie called “House Of Versace”. The film tells the story of how Donatella had to step up after the 1997 murder of her brother, Gianni, and run their fashion house successfully through a struggle with drug addiction and a near-bankruptcy that almost destroyed the company.

There’s an abundance of physical transformation that Gershon had to undergo for the role, including several hours in the makeup chair to get the contours of her face just right.

“She goes through an evolution — she physically changes, as we all know, and it was important to be as truthful about that as possible,” Gershon said. “It’s movie magic — a little tape and glue.”

Besides the makeup, Gershon had cotton stuffed under her upper lip to get the effect just right and dons a long, sleek, platinum wig for the film. Versace has had no comment on the movie, but a documentary will air after the film’s premiere that tells the story of Gianni Versace’s rise to fame and how he came to run a fashion empire. “Versace: Beyond the Headlines” airs at 10 p.m. on October 5.

  • Raquel Welch To Star In Lifetime Versace Biopic

72-year-old screen siren Raquel Welch is set to star in a made-for-television movie on Lifetime in October. The film, “House of Versace,” will be about the rise and (almost) fall of the infamous fashion house formally known as Gianni Versace S.p.A.

A journalist, Deborah Ball, first wrote the book that the movie is based upon; House of Versace: The Untold Story of Genuis, Murder, and Survival, which was published in February 2010.

More commonly referred to simply as, “Versace,” the posh Italian design studio was founded by Giovanni “Gianni” Versace in 1978. He would become one of history’s most popular designers for the rich and famous. In 1997 Gianni was murdered on the steps of his Miami home; his sister, Donatella Versace, who was the P.R. head of the company, was then left to take over.

The film airing in October will be about the near-collapse of the corporation after Gianni’s July 15, 1997 death, and then its ultimate upturn, headed by Donatella.

Racquel Welch, one of the most famous sex symbols of the 60’s and 70’s, will star in the film as Aunt Lucia, Donatella and Gianni’s aunt who helped inspire Donatella to regain control of the family fortune after she nearly lost the company to bankruptcy. Donatella and Gianni’s brother, Santo, also aided in rebuilding Donatella and, thus, Versace, and will be a prominent character in the film.

Gina Gershon has signed on to portray Donatella in the film, and Colini Feore will play Santo Versace.

Interestingly enough, Lifetime will also be airing another network exclusive about the Versace’s in October, a documentary about the life of the late fashion mogul.

Possibly the two specials’ real significance – Gianni’s famous death scene-home in Miami will be going up for auction on September 17, less than a month before the film and documentary will be broadcast. Coincidence? Only Lifetime network officials and the Versace’s know for sure, and they’re definitely not saying.

“House of Versace” is set to air on Lifetime on October 5 at 8 p.m.

  • Versace Mansion On the Auction Block

In 1997, Italian fashion designer and mogul Gianni Versace was flying high. He had just shot some scenes for the Spice Girls movie, Spiceworld. His business was booming. And on July 15, at the age of 50, he went out to get his morning paper at a nearby coffee shop. Little did Gianni Versace know that the scenes he had shot for that movie would not be shown. Little did he know that he would never make it back in to his own home.

Gianni Versace was shot dead by spree killer Andrew Cunanan on the steps of his Miami Beach mansion. No on knows why, if there is even a reason why. Cunanan murdered at least five people over a three-month period. Just a few days after he shot Versace, he turned his gun on himself.

Now that Miami Beach mansion, once called Casa Casuarina, is up for auction, according to the Daily Mail. Originally built in 1930, the mansion has ten bedrooms, a 54-foot long mosaic pool lined with 24-karat gold, many frescos, statues, arched doorways and an open air courtyard.

The home has been up for sale for over a year, but it has not moved. The asking price was cut over the course of the year from $125 million to $75 million. And now it will be auctioned off.

Versace left considerable wealth to his neices and nephews in his will, but had no children of his own. He had also willed $26,000 a month to his domestic partner, as well as the right to live in any of Versace’s houses that he wanted, in Italy or the United States. But, as will happen when a rich person dies, family interference cut his partner out of much of what he had been left.

This particular mansion is now called Villa by Barton G, and has had some refurbish work done. But a lot of what can be seen inside is still very ostentatious and in Versace’s taste.

  • Naomi Campbell Struts On Versace Runway After 15 Years

Naomi Campbell, who is among the elite group of women given the “supermodel” title in the ’90s, took to the runway again in Paris on Sunday to cheers from the audience.

The Versace show was held in Paris during their fashion week, and Campbell’s return to the catwalk marked two occasions: the first time she’d modeled for Versace in 15 years, and the first time she’d been back to the City of Light since she was mugged and injured there just before Christmas. Donatella Versace said that her new collection was full of strong pieces that only Campbell could pull off, and she knew she had to have her for the show.

“I started this Atelier Versace collection by dreaming about the perfect aesthetic of the black-and-white era. I wanted to make it new, and pictured a sexy and sophisticated woman with a strong attitude. Only a true icon like Naomi Campbell could open this show,” she said.

As for Campbell, she says she’s been friends with the Versace family for so long that it didn’t require a second thought when she was asked to walk.

“We’ve known each other over 25 years now. Straight away I felt like part of the family, everybody was so warm and supportive. And of course there was Gianni. Apart from being one of the most inspirational and respected of designers of all time, he was like a brother to me…always there in good and bad times the memory will never fade. So as you can tell this is an emotional evening for me. It really is a great privilege to be here,” she told contactmusic.com.

The new Versace collection is being called a study in luxury, with a color palette in black, red, emerald green and deep sapphire and sparkling with Swarovski crystals. It was unveiled for the fall/winter of 2013.
