  • Kristen Bell Doesn’t Want A Nanny Raising Her Child

Actress Kristen Bell is ready to be a full-time mom again, especially since she’s been busy making the promotional rounds for her latest film Veronica Mars.

Recently, Bell sat down with Us Weekly and said she doesn’t want to be one of those mothers who raises her child through a nanny, nor does she want to be away from home more than she has to be.

“I’m back with baby full-time, which is so nice,” she said. “I want to be very hands on. I want to cook for my family and feel present for them. I’m always missing her when I’m not there.”

The 32-year-old also spoke about working with husband Dax Shepard of Parenthood fame, and says she often asks him about acting roles, since he’s a screenwriter who’s in pretty popular demand.

In 2010 the two worked on the film When in Rome and in 2012 they collaborated on the movie Hit and Run.

But it’s not the last time Bell and Shepard are planning to work together. In fact, Bell says her husband is a master at bringing different actors together and melding some of his ideas with theirs, which makes collaborating with him fun as well as productive.

“He’s been hired to write so many other projects for other people,” said Bell. “I’m always walking into the room and say, ‘Well hey, if there’s a part in there that you could throw the old bags’ way that’d be great’……I would of course work with him again in a second. He’s able to work with his friends and me in a very collaborative way.”

And it seems Shepard also has some great cooking skills, because his spaghetti dish is completely marvelous, says Bell. “He does a really mean spaghetti dish,” she said. “The smell comes through the entire home. It may even be better on the second day. He makes it for the week. It’s very good.”

  • ‘Veronica Mars’ Cast Introduces the ‘Marshmallow Challenge’

‘Veronica Mars’ Cast Introduces the ‘Marshmallow Challenge’

The cast of the upcoming film Veronica Mars have a new challenge for their fans, whom they affectionately refer to as “marshmallows.”

According to MTV News, the cast stopped by MTV After Hours to introduce the “Marshmallow Challenge!”

For those who don’t really understand why the series’ fan base was coined “marshmallows,” the popular nickname actually dates back to very first episode of the Veronica Mars television series.

Kristen Bell‘s character Mars was called a “marshmallow” by one of the show’s other characters.

So, the connotation simply stuck with fans over the course of the series, which ran for three years before going off the air in May of 2007.

On the latest episode of the show, they even joined in on the game to give fans a visual of how it works. The Marshmallow Challenge was filmed at South by Southwest (SXSW) at the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, TX.

The big event took place during the Kickstarter premiere of the upcoming film. The publication reports that the Challenge participants included Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars), Jason Dohring (Logan Echolls), Ryan Hansen (Dick Casablancas), Chris Lowell (Stosh ‘Piz’ Piznarski), Enrico Colantoni (Keith Mars) and Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas.

Here’s the Marshmallow Challenge Instructions via MTV News:

    1) Post an instagram video of yourself saying “Marshmallow!” with as many marshmallows in your mouth as possible, using the hashtag #MarshmallowChallenge before Thursday, March 13 at 6pm.

    2) We’ll choose the five most creative entries, and post them for voting on MTV News on Friday, March 14 at 10am.

    3) Vote for your favorite from 10am to 5pm on March 14.

    4) One winner will be notified on Instagram

The winner gets a big bag of marshmallows signed by the full cast of the film. A number of fans have already taken to Twitter to share pictures of their mouths filled with marshmallows. However, its only practice today since the official game begins on Friday!

  • Kristen Bell Heads Back To ‘Mars’

Kristen Bell Heads Back To ‘Mars’

After more than six years, Kristen Bell has returned to the fictitious town of Neptune, CA as Veronica Mars.

However, this time, she’s going to the big screen!

The 33-year-old actress is starring in the highly anticipated film adaptation of the popular Veronica Mars television series, which went off the air back in May of 2007. The film picks up as a continuation of the series years after she’s walked away from her past as a teenage private eye.

The immense loyalty of the show’s fan base is what prompted the series screenwriter Rob Thomas to launch a campaign on the crowd-funding platform Kickstarter back in 2013. The campaign was developed in effort to raise funds for the production of the film.

Thomas sought approximately $2 million in donations through the site, which works to help bring big creative projects to fruition. The campaign didn’t just meet the goal within 24 hours, but far exceeded expectations with fans donating a record-breaking $5.7 million.

According to ABC News, Bell stopped by Good Morning America on Tues. Mar. 11. During the interview, she expressed her gratitude of the fans’ support.

“It’s the best,” Bell said of her fans that banned together in an effort to help bring the film to life. “I’ve wanted to make a movie since the day the show was cancelled. And I always felt, for some weird reason in my bones, that it would happen.”

“And I hate to say, ‘I told you so,’” she quipped, “but I did know it.”

While the level of fan support may not have been too surprising for Bell, she did express that she was “floored” by the dominance of social media in the development of the Veronica Mars film.

“Our fans have always been unbelievable and we knew that, but I think they proved that to the world,” she said. “I thought we could make our goal in a month, but I had no idea they would triple the goal within the month. I had no idea that the fans wanted it that badly and we’re ultimately flattered to be involved in this project that so many people want to see.”

The neo-noir mystery drama film version of Veronica Mars hits theaters nationwide Friday, Mar. 14.

  • ‘Veronica Mars’: Watch the First 2 Minutes of the Movie

You don’t get nearly 6 million dollars on Kickstarter without making a few enemies, especially if you had three seasons to make them. The opening sequence of the Veronica Mars movie looks back at Veronica’s tainted Neptune past.

On Friday night (February 28), the first two minutes of the Veronica Mars movie were officially released. These two minutes give a brief recap of the entire series, an addition likely made to accommodate those new to Veronica’s world.

The clips used in the Veronica Mars movie opening shows Veronica’s rise and fall as a private investigator, and her complicated history with the “obligatory psychotic jackass” Logan Echols.

The design of the sequence presents an interesting contrast to the series’ previous opening credits. It’s an evolution of the shows’ first and third season credits. The only thing missing is the “We Used to Be Friends” by The Dandy Warhols theme song. The two minutes end with Veronica saying, “People say I’m a marshmallow.” This is another clever reference from the show, and an allusion to the fans called Marshmallows.

The first two minutes tease just enough to get Veronica Mars fans excited for the movie, but give nothing new away.

Veronica Mars aired from 2004-2007 on UPN and the CW; it was canceled after the third season. However, last year, through a Kickstarter campaign, fans got their long awaited wish of a Veronica Mars movie. The Kickstarter campaign became the biggest one in its history. It obtained over 91,000 backers and made 5.7 million dollars in 30 days. It reached its $2 million goal in a couple hours.

The Veronica Mars movie will make a revolutionary move with its theatrical release coinciding with the VOD release. The success of the Kickstarter campaign has already expanded the franchise to a book series and online one.

Veronica Mars hits theaters and VOD on March 14.

  • Veronica Mars Spin-off: Veronica Mars Goes Digital

With all of the success that the show had after the kickstarter campaign that launched the film, a new project has been launched with the Veronica Mars spin-off series.

The upcoming Veronica Mars film has even been bringing in new fans, and old fans are all waiting in anticipation for the big release.

After the film finally debuted its trailer recently, fans were going crazy as they look forward to seeing their favorite character hit the big screen.

The new Veronica Mars spin-off will take place on the CW Seed, the network’s digital programming site. No plot details have been revealed for the online series yet, but it will be related to the world of Veronica Mars in some way.

The upcoming digital series is likely to consist of six-eight 10-minute episodes, and it is expected to feature characters from the original series, with Kristen Bell’s Veronica likely to make occasional appearances.

During the 2014 TCA Press Tour, Mark Pedowitz, the president of the CW network, told members of the press that “Rob [Thomas] and I spoke last night, he’s very excited he’s doing it for CW seed. It may not appear before the movie comes out. He’s very busy, but we’re very excited. I don’t have a lot of details yet.”

The Veronica Mars series, and upcoming film, stars Kristen Bell in the titular role. She plays the female protagonist, a student who progresses from high school to college while operating as a private investigator.

Following the cancellation of the Veronica Mars television series, there was a film written to continue the story, but it was never able to get funded until the recent kickstarter campaign.

In the film, fans will see Veronica Mars return for her 10-year high school reunion, although she is now a lawyer in New York. However, she starts to get back to her old investigating ways when her ex is accused of murder.

In addition to the new Veronica Mars spin-off, fans of the original series will have all sorts of ways to enjoy their favorite private investigator with Rob Thomas also working on a book series that will continue her story. The show ran for three seasons before being cancelled in 2007.

A release date for the show is unknown, but the new Veronica Mars film will be released on March 14.

  • Veronica Mars Movie Trailer Released

    Veronica Mars Movie Trailer Released

E! News released the trailer yesterday for the upcoming Veronica Mars movie that is due out in theaters March 14th. In the trailer, we get to see Veronica, Kristen Bell, all grown up and trying to land a big shot job as an attorney in New York City. She returns to Neptune when she finds out that her old beau Logan (Jason Dohring) is accused of murdering his girl friend. It also happens to be her ten year high school reunion. Veronica gave up the sleuth business after high school for bigger and better things. However, she is once again forced to solve the crime, find the real killer and save her high school sweat heart.

Veronica Mars, the television show which aired on UPN and The WB for three season, was never a huge hit. However, it did have a very loyal fan base, and it’s because of those fans that the movie was made in the first place. The show’s creator Rob Thomas, who also directed and co-wrote the movie, took to Kickstarter to get funds for the production.

In all 91,585 gave money for the project, and the campaign took in an astonishing $5.7 million, which more than doubled its $2 million goal. Thomas said of the fans and Kickstarter, “We are so grateful for the outpouring of support from Kickstarter backers. This movie wouldn’t have happened without them.”

Kickstarter launced in 2009. It is a crowdfunding platform where everyday “joe schmos” can financially back a creative project. A donor doesn’t receive a percentage or cut of the profits if the project makes money. Instead, backers are offered rewards for their contributions. For example, a film backer might receive a copy of the final cut or a chance to go to the film’s premiere. Rewards are typically based on how much money a backer contributes.

Anyone with a creative project trying to get financial support can post the details of their endeavor on Kickstarter. Well-known celebrities like Zach Braff, Spike Lee and Whoopi Goldberg have also used the site to raise money.

  • “Veronica Mars” Trailer Hits The Web

“Veronica Mars” Trailer Hits The Web

“Veronica Mars” gained a cult following akin to the one “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” had, and the role made Kristen Bell into the star she is today. Now, after nearly seven years off the air, the characters are about to be reunited on the big screen thanks to a very successful Kickstarter campaign.

“This project has been a labor of love for everyone involved—me, the cast, my producing partners,” creator Rob Thomas said in a statement. “We are so grateful for the outpouring of support from the Kickstarter backers. This movie wouldn’t have happened without them.”

Thomas co-wrote the script and served as director. Most of the original cast returned for the film, which raised the initial goal of $2 million in just ten hours on the crowdfunding site.

The film will focus on Veronica’s return to Neptune for her 10-year class reunion after moving to New York to pursue a career as a lawyer. But her return is double-sided, as she also decides to help out her former love Logan, who has been accused of murdering his girlfriend.

“Nine years of radio silence and yet I still kind of knew I could count on you,” Logan says.

The film hits select theaters on March 14.
