  • Rene Angelil Has Cancer Again, Wife Celine Dion Cancels Shows To Take Care Of Him

Husband and manager to Canadian singing superstar Celine Dion, Rene Angelil, was diagnosed with cancer for the second time in 2013.

Upon learning of her husband’s ailment, Dion packed up her residency from the Ceasar’s Palace’s Coloseum and announced she was postponing her shows indefinitely to take care of Angelil.

“I went back in my dressing room and I saw him looking pretty devastated and in shock, and I was like, ‘What’s going on?’” Celine told Good Morning America on Wednesday. “He sat down and said, ‘The doctor just called me and I have cancer again.’”

During the emotional interview, Dion shared the severity of her husband’s health condition.

“Rene could not talk and he could not swallow. The surgery was major,” Dion said of Angelil’s battle with throat cancer.

“He can’t eat. He’s got a feeding tube. I have to feed him three times a day. I do this myself.”

73-year-old Angelil was first diagnosed with throat cancer in 1999 and underwent two operations and six weeks of radiation. Dion then took two years off her singing career to take care of her husband.

“I want to devote every ounce of my strength and energy to my husband’s healing, and to do so, it’s important for me to dedicate this time to him and to our children. I also want to apologize to all my fans everywhere, for inconveniencing them, and I thank them so much for their love and support,” Dion said in a statement to ET in August 2014.

Dion was encouraged by Angélil to re-launch her residency at The Colosseum, the same way he believed in her talent 35 years ago. Dion will again take the stage starting Aug. 27.

“I am scared of losing him, because it’s bad,” Dion told ET. “But I have to show myself, my husband and my kids that I’m strong and we’re okay.”

“I had to leave him behind because he wanted me to start the shows again,” said Dion, “I’m doing it for him. I’m doing it for my fans. I’m doing it for me,” Dion said.

  • Christy Mack Challenged by War Machine Fans Over Vegas Twitter Pic

Christy Mack has had a rough way to go lately. After allegedly getting beaten half to death by her ex-boyfriend, an MMA “fighter” who calls himself War Machine, she now faces a long road of recovery from her injuries.

As if that weren’t enough, a few miscreant fans of War Machine want to see him freed from jail and have taken to Twitter to harass Christy Mack and any who support her. They deny that her injuries were as bad as her own account and pictures show.

Recently a Christy Mack fan saw her venturing out from home with a friend to get something to eat The fan snapped a picture of Mack and posted it to Twitter. These “Free War Machine” folks tore into Mack, accusing her of having a “night on the town” so soon after her beating. The implication was that it must not have been that bad.

    Mack responded to the haters.

“I’m not sure that picking up food in our sweat pants is ‘a night on the town’. You can see the damage to my face even in the dark. And I can’t drive myself,” she wrote. “I get out about once a day for a little bit. It’s depressing staying in one room sleeping all day.”

Porn star Jenna Jameson jumped in to defend Christy Mack against the haters, and ended up getting piled on herself.

War Machine was arrested without resistance in a hotel after he allegedly fled to California from Vegas to elude police.

UPDATE: War Machine has been extradited back to Vegas to face charges in the beating incident. Read the details here.

  • Britney Spears Talks Wardrobe Malfunction

Britney Spears has been a pop icon since the early “…Baby One More Time” days wearing that oh-so-infamous schoolgirl outfit complete with the pigtails. But the diva has moved on to bigger and better experiences now staring in her very own Vegas act at Planet Hollywood. That’s right, you can catch the 32-year-old blonde performing all the hits she’s made famous over the past 15 years in an energetic show called, “Britney: Piece of Me.”

At the People’s Choice Awards, Yahoo’s “The Insider” caught up with Spears and learned about a little wardrobe malfunction that happened during one of her super sexy Vegas performances.

As the star started singing, the back of her corset completely opened exposing her bare back. But like the old pro that she is, Spears’ continued on with the show-singing and running seamlessly through her choreography like nothing had happened. One of her backup dancers followed behind the leading lady as he tried his best to fasten the back of her beautiful costume.

“That’s the attitude you have to have,” she said of the minor wardrobe malfunction. “The dancers were helping me with the back part of my dress. It was really kind of crazy,” she said with a positive attitude.

While she kept calm on stage and handled the issue with extreme grace it’s clear Spears’ still has that perfectionist attitude towards her music and performances.

“I’m still going to be nervous [with] the next shows I do.”

  • Probation Officer Returns $223,600 Dropped by Armored Car

An armored car dropped a bag containing $223,600 in cash while leaving Boomtown Casino in Harvey on Wednesday afternoon. Luckily for the car’s crew, the money was spotted by a Good Samaritan named Jessica Luebke, a probation officer. Luebke saw an unusual bag about 2 x 2.5 foot on the side of the road while driving around 12.30 p.m. It took a while for Luebke to realize what was in the bag but eventually she realized that it was loaded with cash. The cash was in bundles of $20 and $100 bills totaling $223,600.

“I turned around immediately as soon as it registered what um, that actually was, that it was a huge bag of cash, I turned around immediately and called Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.” Said Luebke.

At first, the police officers weren’t sure how the money came to be on the side of the road but later got their answers when an armored car drove up and its crew reported they were tracing a missing cash bag, according to department District Administrator, Jon Reeves.

Reeves said the armored car had just picked up a deposit from Boomtown club but the bag fell off the car as it neared the probation department’s quarters. Reeves said that it is fortunate that a law enforcement office was first to spot the lost bag as it would have been extremely hard to recover the cash had someone else found it.

  • Girls Gone Wild Founder Loses Defamation Suit

Nevada district court judge Mark Denton awarded casino mogul Steve Wynn $7.5 million in a defamation suit against Girls Gone Wild founder Joe Francis Wednesday. The damages were awarded after Wynn testified in a ‘prove up hearing,’ to where a lawsuit goes uncontested. Francis had tried to seek a continuance in the case, to retain a new attorney, but Wynn’s lawyers were able to get the case through regardless, and won a civil judgement against francis last November.

The two moguls have been in court for years, after Francis failed to pay a $2.5 million gambling debt Wynn claims Francis racked up in his casino. Joe Francis, once-reigning “Douche of the Decade,” initially won a criminal case concerning the casino debt, but then went after Wynn in a civil suit, for Malicious Prosecution, Abuse of Process, Intentional Misrepresentation, Defamation, Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress and Conspiracy, according to PRN. Francis had threatened to expose “how exactly Mr. Wynn deceives his high end customers,” according to Wynn’s complaint. Wynn went on to clarify that he’d never mentioned to “hit (Francis) in the back of the head with a shovel, and bury (him) in the desert,” as Francis had told TMZ in April 2010.

The court awarded Wynn $5 million in compensatory and $2.5 million in punitive damages, which disproves Francis’ claims about being buried in the desert. Francis’ lawyer, David Houston, says “we will appeal this order. Joe was not allowed to defend himself,” referring to the prove-up hearing, according to TMZ.

Francis has recently tried to block a portion of Madonna’s Superbowl halftime show, as she’d planned to sing a song called “Girls Gone Wild,” citing that “(I) and Girls Gone Wild have worked tirelessly for an excess of two decades to build his brand and to protect his trademark Girls Gone Wild.”

I find the story of a soft-core porn mogul and “Douche of the Decade” honoree, attempting to sue a 53-year-old pop star for wanting to sing about how we should let girls gone wild, at the Superbowl, to be a very quaint and joyous slice of modern Americana.
