  • Scottie Pippen’s Daughter Goes To Jail For Urinating In Iowa Hotel Lobby

Scottie Pippen’s daughter is all grown up and making a name for herself – just not in the way he probably hoped.

Sierra M. Pippen, the 20-year-old daughter of the legendary basketball player, was arrested for urinating in a hotel lobby in Iowa City.

Reports stated that a highly-inebriated pedestrian “walked in and peed at the front desk” of the Sheraton Inn on April 26 at 1:29 am.

Hotel staff were said to have recognized the younger Pippen from an incident on April 10 where she was arrested for assaulting the hotel’s security officers, and promptly called the police.

ICPD’s online records did show that a female was arrested on said date for assault. Sierra’s blood alcohol was purportedly at .141 percent at that time.

Sierra was allegedly apprehended in this latest incident in a walkway next to the hotel.

According to the responding police, she appeared inebriated. She smelled of alcohol, was slurring and couldn’t maintain her balance. She was also said to be wearing two wristbands from a bar, even though she was underage.

The University of Iowa student also reportedly refused to participate in a field sobriety test when asked and accused the arresting officer of being racist. She was charged with public intoxication and public urination and taken to the Johnson County Jail.

She has pleaded not guilty and was later released on a $500 bond. Pippen is set to appear in court on May 28.

When asked to confirm the incident, Jason Williams, the general manager at the Sheraton Inn Iowa City, said that he “can confirm the authorities were contacted over the weekend due to an individual relieving herself in front of the hotel. The person was not a guest.”

Scottie Pippen has not released any statement about his daughter’s latest run-in with the law.

  • Kendall Jenner: Underage Drinking at Khloe Kardashian’s Birthday Party?

Kendall Jenner was reportedly spotted sipping champagne at big sister Khloe Kardashian’s recent 30th birthday bash. This means the 18-year-old was underage and drinking aboard a yacht in New York City as she danced the night away on the top deck. Of course it’s quite unlikely that this will shock many people. Kendall is, after all, part of the Keeping Up With the Kardashians family–and they do what they want when they want–right? Fortunately younger sister Kylie Jenner, who is just 16, stuck to water as her beverage of choice for the celebration.

Mom Kris Kardashian was at the birthday bash for Khloe but that didn’t seem to alter what Kendall Jenner drank throughout the evening.

Kendall has been front and center in the news recently for two reasons. The first–her landing a photo shoot for the Givenchy fall fashion campaign was a huge boost for the model–and then the second newsworthy tidbit involves the likelihood of Kendall Jenner soon posing for a spread in Playboy magazine. Of course Kendall comes by this opportunity naturally. Both Kris Jenner and big sis Kim Kardashian have taken it all off for Playboy in past issues.

It would seem if Kendall could choose to pose nude for Playboy that she could certainly decide whether or not to consume alcohol at a party, however the law doesn’t quite work that way. And in New York–as with the other states in the country–the legal drinking age is 21.

There was absolutely no question at this party about Khloe Kardashian and French Montana being a bona fide couple. He could barely keep his hands off her all evening long. This is, of course, something all of Khloe’s sisters–including Kendall Jenner, with whom she is very close–have known for quite some time, despite the family’s refusal to acknowledge that Khloe was seriously involved with the rapper.

Oh, to be a Kardashian (or a Jenner, as the case may be) and to know that rules are made for everyone except those with certain last names. Unfortunately this isn’t teaching impressionable teens–like Kylie and Kendall Jenner–a great deal about real life. It’s high time Kris Jenner stepped up to the plate and worried more about being a mom and less about being the Keeping Up With the Kardashians matriarch.

  • Driving Restrictions, Campus Interventions Curb Underage Drinking, Shows Study

The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) today announced that the U.S. Surgeon General’s recommended strategies to curb underage drinking may actually be working. The institute has issued a new report published in this month’s Journal of Studies on Alcohol and Drugs.

The report shows that methods such as young driver curfews, license suspension laws, physician screenings, and college campus/community interventions have helped to slightly reduce underage alcohol consumption. At least one study covered in the report found that alcohol use among 12th-graders in the U.S. fell to 62% in 2013, down from over 66% in 2007.

“The downward trend in underage drinking and alcohol-related traffic deaths indicates that certain policies and programs put in place at the federal, state, and local levels have had an impact,” said Kenneth Warren, acting director of the NIAAA.

When it comes to drunk driving, the report found that underage drinkers in states with strict licensing laws are half as likely to drive drunk. The laws cited by the report as effective include strict alcohol-related license suspensions underage drinkers, nighttime driving restrictions for young drivers, and graduated driver licensing.

“While progress has been made in addressing underage drinking, the consequences still remain unacceptably high,” said Ralph Hingson, first author of the report and the director of Epidemiology and Prevention Research at the NIAAA. “We must continue research to develop new interventions and implement existing strategies that have been shown to be effective.”

  • Cornell Hazing Leads To Suspension Of Lacrosse Team

Cornell is facing some heat after the lacrosse team participated in hazing, causing the program to be suspended. The hazing has caused the men’s lacrosse team to be suspended for the entire fall season. Cornell announced last week that the fall games would be cancelled, after finding out about the seniors hazing the freshman in a very mean way, through an investigation done by the university.

The seniors on the team forced the freshman to do a number of outrageous things, mostly involving drinking, for students that were obviously under 21. College officials have said that the freshman were forced to stand in a circle and drink beer up until the point where multiple members vomited. CBS News mentions that the team held a party which featured a “keg race,” where freshmen were challenged to drink large amounts of beer in a competition against other team members. Hazing can often be a problem for high school and college students, but it is sad to see it having such an effect on a sports team at this level.

Especially after Cornell’s successful Lacrosse team that they had last season, it is sad to see them start the year off this way, not even eligible to play. In the spring, they went 14-4, losing in the national semi-finals to Duke. The team finished at No.3 in the nation, according to ESPN. This is a serious problem that needs to be addressed at the university level, and hopefully after cracking down and suspending the team for a season, Cornell’s players will take a hint and quit their awful antics.

Rob Pannell, who played lacrosse for Cornell from 2008-2013, said “In my five-plus years as a member of the Cornell lacrosse family, I can confidently say that no hazing took place.” It is sad to see such a negative turn around from players. This cannot be tolerated and it is a good thing that the Cornell administration. The decision was made within the university and was not enforced by NCAA. The team has previously had a great reputation, and will hopefully be able to get back to that soon, but will have to rest up this season.
