  • UNC Asheville Leads Syracuse At Halftime 34-30

Can this be the day we see a No. 16 seed upset a No. 1 seed? It could be as the UNC Asheville Bulldogs are leading the Syracuse Orange 34-30. It should be noted this is only the sixth time that a No. 16 seed has been leading a No. 1 seed at the half.

At the end of the half there was a little controversy as there was a layup attempt at the end of the shot clock. We’ve included an image of it below so you can see that the ball is still in the Syracuse players hand as the shot clock hit zero.

It’ll be interesting to see how the rest of this game plays out, no pun intended. Will UNC Asheville be able to keep their furious pace up? Will Syracuse finally wake up? It is March and anything can happen folks.

Below is some Twitter reaction to the surprising halftime score:

  • Syracuse vs. UNC Asheville: Early Twitter Reaction

We’re underway in Pittsburgh as Syracuse and UNC Asheville has tipped off. Early on it seems that the Bulldogs of UNC Asheville aren’t scared by the No. 1 that is beside the Syracuse name, as they’re hitting almost every shot their jacking up.

Could this be the day where we see a No. 16 FINALLY defeat a No. 1 seed? I guess we’ll see… here is some early Twitter reaction to the game though.

  • Syracuse vs. UNC Asheville: March Madness 2012 Round 2 Game

The Syracuse Orange enter the tournament as a No. 1 seed in the East Region with a record of 31-2. They’ll be taking on No. 16 seed UNC Asheville, who will try an become the first No. 16-seeded team to ever knock off a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

The Orange were bounced early from the Big East Tournament by Cincinnati and were force to finish watching the tournament from home. To make matters even worse, earlier this week Syracuse shared the devastating news that starting center, Fab Melo, as he was ruled ineligible. It’ll be hard for Syracuse to make up what Melo brought to the team, with his 25.4 minutes, 5.8 rebounds, 2.9 blocks, and 7.8 points per game.
