  • Brie Larson Wins Best Actress and Best Dressed at Sunday’s Golden Globes

Brie Larson is an all-around winner. Walking away with one of the most prestigious–not to mention competitive–awards at Sunday’s Golden Globes, the actress and singer went home with the Best Actress in a Drama award for her role in the film Room.

Directed by Lenny Abrahamson and adapted from the novel of the same name by Emma Donoghue, Brie Larson plays the role of Ma, a woman living in captivity with her young son who was fathered by her captor.

Brie Larson gave a heartfelt acceptance speech, thanking Donoghue, Abrahamson, as well as her young co-star, Jacob Tremblay.

“I’m sorry to anyone I forgot,” she said. “I’ll send you a thank you card.”

In addition to receiving this huge Golden Globes honor, Brie Larson also walked away knowing she was deemed the event’s best dressed by Access Hollywood. Present on the red carpet at the Golden Globes, their reporters held an unofficial poll, critiquing many of the evening’s fashions.

Brie Larson started out as a teen actress, then moved into the music field. She is known for her role in the TV sitcom Raising Dad, and appeared in films including 13 Going On 30. She had a role in Amy Schumer’s 2015 film Trainwreck.

Sunday was a big night for Brie Larson. She received an incredible validation from the Hollywood Foreign Press and big kudos for her fashion prowess as well.

  • Amy Schumer: Why BFF Jennifer Lawrence Wants Her to Win Golden Globe

Amy Schumer and BFF Jennifer Lawrence were both nominated for the same Golden Globe. Don’t worry, there won’t be a rivalry between the two friend over who should win. In fact, Jennifer Lawrence wants Amy Schumer to win–instead of winning herself.

When the nominations were announced, the Joy star said she didn’t even realize Amy Schumer was nominated for the same award.

“That was so amazing because obviously I only pay attention to myself, so I was like oh I got nominated, and then when she texted and said something about the same category I was like – are you, what, like–huh?” she said during an interview with etalk.

Both Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Schumer received nominations in the Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy category. Schumer got hers for Trainwreck and Lawrence, got hers for Joy.

Lawrence, a Golden Globe veteran, wants Amy Schumer to win.

“I genuinely don’t want it–would love to see her sweet ass up on that stage,” she said on Monday.

She added that a win for Amy Schumer would be a very positive thing for the film the two are writing together.

“So obviously I’m pulling for her. Selfishly, it would be good for our movie if she won, so vote for Amy,” Lawrence said.

Last week Jennifer Lawrence said she wanted to dress exactly like Amy Schumer at the Golden Globes.

These two sound like fabulous friends. Wouldn’t you love to be invited to drop in on the ladies’ night fun and see how hilarious they are together?

  • Jennifer Lawrence Wants to Match Amy Schumer at Golden Globes

Jennifer Lawrence is on a mission to make her and Amy Schumer the next Tina Fey and Amy Poehler–or so it seems. The Joy star is determined to wear the “exact same thing” as new BFF Amy Schumer when they attend the Golden Globes in January.

Jennifer Lawrence confirmed this in a recent interview with E! News.

“She’s going to have to wear Dior,” Lawrence explained. “I’m just going to have to have Dior make two of whatever they’re making for me.”

Jennifer Lawrence is one of the celebrity faces of the Dior line, and she often wears their designs on red carpets.

As anyone who follows the Silver Linings Playbook star likely realizes, Lawrence is dead serious.

“That’s my mission. I really want us to wear the same thing,” she said.

Not only will Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Schumer dress alike, they are also vying for the same award. Both actresses were nominated for Best Actress in a Motion Picture or Comedy–Jennifer Lawrence for Joy, and Amy Schumer for Trainwreck.

“As soon as I saw that we were both nominated, I took her right out of my phone because our friendship is obviously over,” Amy Schumer joked in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly. “It’s really every woman for herself at this point, and I don’t want her to kind of get in my head, you know?”

Just the notion of Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Schumer pulling off this stunt at the Golden Globes will make those who might not typically watch the awards show tune in.

Will Amy Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence engage in a game of “Who wore it better?” once they strut their matching stuff on the red carpet at the Golden Globes?

  • Amy Schumer Jokes About Golden Globes Nominations

Amy Schumer isn’t particularly reverent about anything, so it shouldn’t come as any surprise that she was recently joking about her Golden Globes nominations, too.

It was earlier this week that the funny woman learned she earned not just one-but two–nominations for her summer film Trainwreck.

“It feels so good. It’s like, it really feels good and I’m proud of what I accomplished, but yeah, really, it is more about the revenge,” she said Friday during a phone-in interview with Today’s Savannah Guthrie.

“I want to really thank the Hollywood Foreign Press, but more than that, there are people I want to say ‘no thank you’ to–how much time do we have left on the show?” Amy Schumer joked.

Both Savannah Guthrie and Matt Lauer asked Amy Schumer for cameos if there’s a Trainwreck 2.

“We’ll look at your audition tapes but the demand is high, so I don’t know,” she said.

Savannah Guthrie offered Amy Schumer a nude scene from Matt Lauer.

“I picture Matt nude but still wearing his socks and loafers,” Amy Schumer said. “Give the people what they want!”

Shortly after learning of her Golden Globes nominations, Amy Schumer shared a throwback pic on social media.

People love Amy Schumer for her comedy, but also for how she doesn’t appear to take herself too seriously. Would you have expected anything different from Amy Schumer when learned she’d been nominated for two Golden Globes?

If fans expected a parade wave and a list of “thank you’s,” then they really don’t get Amy Schumer.

  • Brie Larson the New ‘It’ Girl? She Has A Hilarious Response to That Moniker

Brie Larson has had fabulous year professionally, with many calling her the new “it” girl.

However, the 26-year-old Room actress is having none of it. In an interview with CBS News on Sunday, Brie expressed her feelings about being referred to as the new “it” girl.

“What is ‘it’?” Larson asked. “There is no ‘it’! And who was ‘it’ before ‘it’? And when does ‘it’ go away? When did I get ‘it’? Who’s gonna take ‘it’?”

She added, laughing, “I think it’s a really funny term. I’m just a person. I’m not anything!”

While Brie Larson may not be on board with the moniker, there are plenty of reasons why she is being called the “it” girl. Over the summer, she starred alongside Amy Schumer in the box office comedy smash Trainwreck, followed by her role in Room, which has garnered a lot of attention, including Oscar buzz.

The film, based on the novel of the same name by Emma Donoghue, stars Larson as a young woman who is kidnapped and kept in a shed for years. During her captivity, she gives birth to a child, who is five when the film opens. Played by Jacob Tremblay, Jack has never experienced the outside world.

Despite her aversion to being called the new “it” girl, Larson says she is overwhelmed with the attention the film has garnered and the Oscar buzz surrounding her performance. She told CBS News, “It’s just not even something that your brain can wrap itself around.”

  • Brie Larson Reacts to Being Called New “It” Girl

Brie Larson was recently referred to as the new “It” girl, and she dished on the moniker during a recent interview with CBS News.

“What is ‘it’?” she asked. “There is no ‘it’! And who was ‘it’ before ‘it’? And when does ‘it’ go away? When did I get ‘it’? Who’s gonna take ‘it’?”

“I think it’s a really funny term. I’m just a person. I’m not anything!” Brie Larson added.

It was during this past summer that Larson earned the name, while starring alongside Amy Schumer in her film Trainwreck. More recently, however, it’s her work in Room that is garnering her lots of attention.

Room stars Brie Larson as a young woman who is kidnapped and kept in a shed for years–along with her 5-year-old son, Jack (played by Jacob Tremblay). Jack was born in captivity and never experienced the outside world.

Brie Larson is flabbergasted that she’s hearing Oscar buzz with regard to her role in this film.

“It’s just not even something that your brain can wrap itself around,” she says.

It won’t be long before everyone knows everything about Brie Larson. She will no doubt be front and center in the media as the Academy Awards draw near.

  • Amy Schumer Makes Barbara Walters’ 2015 Most Fascinating People List

Amy Schumer has definitely had a fulfilling year. She’s ending it with quite an honor, too. When Barbara Walters announced her list of 2015’s Most Fascinating People, Schumer made the cut.

In addition to her comedy sketches that are raunchy but hilarious, Amy Schumer hit the big screen this year with Trainwreck. She is working on a new screenplay with BFF Jennifer Lawrence.

Entertainers know they’ve made the grade when asked to host SNL. Yes, Amy Schumer did that in 2015, too.

In recent days, Schumer has made news for posing nearly nude–wearing nothing but undies and a pair of heels–for the 2016 Pirelli calendar. Annie Liebovitz created the masterpiece.

Just today–in the aftermath of Wednesday’s deadly massacre in San Bernardino, California, Amy Schumer posted a series of Tweets against gun violence.

Yes, there’s way more to Amy Schumer than just her often-vile tongue. Barbara Walters clearly recognizes that, and surely others do, too.

In addition to Amy Schumer, fellow SNL alum Tracy Morgan also made the list of 2015’s Most Fascinating People, as did ballet dancer Misty Copeland, UFC fighter Ronda Rousey, actor Bradley Cooper, fashion designer Donna Karan, and presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders.

Are you surprised Amy Schumer made the list?

  • Brie Larson Talks Diet, Isolation in Preparation for “Room”

Brie Larson stars in the upcoming film Room. Based on the 2010 best-selling novel by Emma Donoghue, Room tells the story of a young boy named Jack, who is being held captive in a small room along with his mother. Larson plays his mom, Ma, who was kidnapped and raped by her captor. Room, which co-stars Joan Allen and William H. Macy, depicts what happens when they are let out of captivity as well.

Room premiered at the Telluride Film Festival in September and shortly thereafter received the People’s Choice Award at the Toronto Film Festival.

“It’s a very old story but told in a contemporary way…I thought this was an amazing opportunity to show the more universal aspect of it and to get human beings to connect with it. I also thought it was a way to make a comment on some of the interesting constructs that we’ve created for our society,” Brie Larson said in an interview with CBS News.

Even though she had no clue what it felt like to be held captive for seven years, Brie Larson did what she could to prepare for playing this role.

“I was on this restrictive diet with the help of a nutritionist and I was working out with a trainer every day. And I was speaking with a trauma counselor,” she said. “The only aspect that I had a hard time wrapping my brain around was being in a confined space for seven years. Like seven years later, what kind of acceptance has arisen from being there for so long? When you’re given all this empty time in silence, what kind of stuff comes up?”

Brie Larson did her best to create her own silent room for one month, too.

“I just pared everything down–no cell phone and just basically stayed at home and the only time I did anything active was when I was doing these workouts.”

Even these minor changes in her life resulted in repressed moments from her past.

“I was surprised to discover that I had some memories myself that were sort of similar to Room–in the metaphorical sense — and it gave me incredible insight into another aspect of myself, which is why is I loved this project so much,” she said.

Eight-year-old Jacob Tremblay plays Brie Larson’s son Jack in Room. She says he brought a sense of light and innocence to a set that was filled with a great deal of darkness.

“Making a movie is really hard and it takes participation and a lot of brain power of 100 people–and something is bound to go wrong. There’s a thousand things we need to get right in a day. It’s easier to hang on to those things and to participate in the problem. But Jacob never does. Those things are never on his radar at all. Every day on set is just super fun and a chance to play and if you have to cry in a scene, that’s super fun. So we had this energy around that would bring this lightness to everything. Nothing would ever go too dark,” Larson said.

In addition to Room, Brie Larson recently starred with Amy Schumer in Trainwreck.

Will you check out Brie Larson in Room when it starts opening in U.S. theaters on Friday?

  • Jennifer Lawrence, Aziz Ansari Attended SNL After Party With Amy Schumer

Jennifer Lawrence and Aziz Ansari attended the SNL after-party in the wee hours on Sunday, following Amy Schumer’s first time hosting the show.

Amy Schumer got digs in at everyone from Hillary Clinton to the stars of Keeping Up With the Kardashians during her Saturday Night Live stint, but after the show it was fun and games for all.

The fun was so incredible that Jennifer Lawrence gave Aziz Ansari a piggy-back ride as they left the after-party.

Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Schumer are reportedly working on a screenplay.

“We play sisters,” the Silver Linings Playbook actress said. “We’re almost done writing. It just flowed out of us. We’ve got about 100 pages right now.”

Lawrence and the Trainwreck star recently vacationed together, too.

Did you catch Amy Schumer as SNL host on Saturday night?

Wouldn’t you love to have been part of the fun that she, Jennifer Lawrence, and Aziz Ansari had at the SNL after party? The three pals seem to hang in the same circles a lot these days.

Just about a week ago, the three hung out in Atlanta, along with Schumer’s sister and actor Chris Pratt.

Wouldn’t you like to be a fly on that proverbial wall when Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Schumer, and the rest of their gang gets together to play?

There’s likely a screenplay in that scenario alone.

  • Brie Larson: Will She Replace Emma Stone and Play Billie Jean King in Upcoming Film?

Brie Larson is reportedly in talks to play the role of tennis legend Billie Jean King in an upcoming film called Battle of the Sexes. Emma Stone was initially cast in the leading role, but had to back out because of a scheduling conflict.

Steve Carell is set to play Bobby Riggs in the film.

The story of Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs was a defining event back in 1973, when the 29-year-old number 2 ranked female tennis star rose to the challenge and beat the 55-year-old retired former Wimbledon champion Riggs.

Brie Larson appears in the recent Amy Schumer film Trainwreck. She also played the role of Rachel for two seasons of Community.

Battle of the Sexes is just one of three upcoming projects based on the infamous tennis match. The other two are the HBO and Playtone film Proof, starring Elizabeth Banks and Paul Giamatti. Chernin Entertainment and Gary Sanchez’s Match Maker featuring Steve Conrad’s as writer, with Will Ferrell signed on to play Bobby Riggs.

Billie Jean King is an intricate character. Does Brie Larson have what it takes to portray her accurately?

And how about her tennis skills? Brie Larson not only must learn about Billie Jean King’s persona, but she needs to be at least a fairly decent tennis player, too.

  • Billy Joel Joined On Stage by Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Schumer During Chicago Concert

Billy Joel had a couple of very popular–and very sexy–ladies join him on stage during his concert in Chicago on Thursday night. The ladies were none other than new BFFs Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Schumer.

The pair danced barefoot atop a piano while Billy Joel sang his long-popular “Uptown Girl.” The song was featured in Amy Schumer’s film Trainwreck.

Many fans believed the two showing up on stage was a complete surprise to Billy Joel, but in truth they’d rehearsed all day alongside the Piano Man at Wrigley Field.

“Billy came out for his encore and started singing “Uptown Girl,” ” an audience member told People magazine. “And then Amy and [Jennifer] came out with some others for the song! Eventually Amy and [Jennifer] were dancing on Billy’s piano. Absolutely loved it.”

Amy Schumer shared a photo to her Instagram account of herself with Jennifer Lawrence, standing on Billy Joel’s piano.

    “Piano men,” she captioned it.

She also posted footage of the piano scene, with Billy Joel singing on stage.

Amy Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence have been vacationing together. Wouldn’t it be a blast to get invited along?

The two recently announced they are writing a screenplay together, too.

Maybe they’ll ask Billy Joel to write the theme song.

  • Amy Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence Fulfill Jon Stewart Prophecy With New Movie [Pics]

Amy Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence are writing a movie together that will star both of them as sisters. That bit of news titillates fans of both actresses, many of whom could hardly contain themselves last month when pictures of the two on vacation together hit headlines.

Amy Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence are burning through the writing of the script, which Jennifer Lawrence broke news of to the New York Times this week.

“We play sisters,” Jennifer Lawrence said. “We’re almost done writing. It just flowed out of us. We’ve got about 100 pages right now.”

“Amy and I were creatively made for each other. We have different flavors. It’s been the most fun experience of my life. We start the day off on the phone, laughing. And then we send each other pages. And we crack up. I’m flying out tomorrow to see her in Chicago. We’ll write a little bit with her sister, Kim, who worked with Amy when she was writing ‘Trainwreck.’”

“I emailed her after I saw ‘Trainwreck’ and said, ‘I don’t know where to get started. I guess I should just say it: I’m in love with you,’” Lawrence said. “We started emailing, and then emailing turned to texting.”

The sparkly-yet-grungy friendship between the two super-women of Hollywood blossomed into headline-grabbing Instagram posts that Schumer had to explain to Jon Stewart.

Amy Schumer told Jon Stewart how Jennifer Lawrence, the highest-paid actress in Hollywood today, ended up on a boat with her and her friends.

“I was like, ‘Oh, we’re going on a boat tomorrow. You should come.’ It was kind of a hypothetical,” Schumer said. “And she was like, ‘I think I’m coming.’ And I was like, ‘Oh my God!’”

“She’s the coolest chick you’ll ever meet,” Schumer said. “She’s the best hang, she was like one of the gang.”

That’s when Jon Stewart threw out the idea that Schumer and Lawrence do a film together. He said of one of the pics Shumer had posted with Lawrence:

“That’s your next movie poster. Tell me that’s not a cop movie.”

And now they’re doing a movie together. Jon Stewart is still giving gifts to the world.

  • Amy Schumer, Jennifer Lawrence Collaborating on Screenplay

Amy Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence are about to make the dreams of many of their fans come true. The funny lady and the Hunger Games actress, known for her role as Katniss Everdeen (and who truly is a funny lady herself), are collaborating on a screenplay.

Not only is Amy Schumer a hilarious comic, she is also the brains behind the recent film Trainwreck. Schumer stars in Comedy Central’s Inside Amy Schumer.

Jennifer Lawrence recently dished about their plans.

“We play sisters,” she said in a recent interview. “We’re almost done writing. It just flowed out of us. We’ve got about 100 pages right now.”

“Amy and I were creatively made for each other. We have different flavors. It’s been the most fun experience of my life,” Jennifer Lawrence added.

Amy Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence were spotted earlier this summer, enjoying time together on jet skis.

“We start the day off on the phone, laughing. And then we send each other pages. And we crack up. I’m flying out tomorrow to see her in Chicago. We’ll write a little bit with her sister, Kim, who worked with Amy when she was writing Trainwreck,” Lawrence added.

Amy Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence only met a few months ago, after Lawrence emailed the comedian about Trainwreck.

“I emailed her after I saw Trainwreck and said, ‘I don’t know where to get started. I guess I should just say it: I’m in love with you,’”Lawrence said. “We started emailing, and then emailing turned to texting.”

Amy Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence must be a lot of fun together. Can you imagine hanging out with this pair? Even if the two don’t win an Oscar for their screenplay, there’s no way that anything these two write won’t be hilarious.

  • Rebel Wilson Talks American Gun Laws in Wake of ‘Trainwreck’ Louisiana Theater Shooting

Rebel Wilson has lots to say about American gun laws in the wake of the Trainwreck Louisiana theater shooting, during which a man–John Houser–gunned down two young women–Mayci Breaux and Jillian Johnson–before turning the gun on himself. She believes if America adopted the gun laws Australia has implemented, that far fewer people would die.

It was via Twitter that the Pitch Perfect 2 star shared her thoughts on the matter.

That wasn’t all Rebel Wilson had to say, either.

She certainly shared some food for thought.

In addition to Rebel Wilson, Trainwreck star Amy Schumer shared her feelings about the tragedy via social media. While her thoughts weren’t political in nature, like Rebel Wilson’s, they certainly resonated with everyone who read of the unthinkable tragedy.

What’s your take on Rebel Wilson’s thoughts about American gun laws? If it works in Australia, would it work here as well?

Isn’t the bottom line here the safety of human beings? If people can’t go to a movie theater without fear of being gunned down, what’s next?

Do you expect Rebel Wilson will receive any backlash on her outspokenness regarding American and Australian gun laws?

  • Judd Apatow Slams Bill Cosby in Spot-On ‘Tonight Show’ Stand Up Routine

Judd Apatow doesn’t include Bill Cosby on his list of BFFs. In fact, the director has made it unequivocally clear recently that he believes Cosby is guilty of the alleged drugging and rapes that have been front and center in the media in recent months.

While a guest of Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show Monday, the Trainwreck director did a stand up comedy routine that slammed Bill Cosby and–the serious nature of his alleged crimes aside–was hilarious, too.

“Cosby is still out on the road. Isn’t that weird? He’s like doing stand-up. What do you think his act is like? Do you think he’s still talking about it?” Judd Apatow began, before transitioning into a Bill Cosby impression. “You ever been in trouble with the wife? You ever get into the dog house with the wife?

He continued with his Cosby imitation.

“And my wife, she said to me, ‘What is this in the paper about the raping and the drugging and the women?’ And I said, ‘Do you like your life? Do you like the house, the jet? Then have a cappuccino and shut the fo-que up!’” Judd Apatow declared.

Judd Apatow has been outspoken about his feelings about the Bill Cosby scandal for some time.

In a recent conversation with Whoopi Goldberg–who previously believed Bill Cosby to be innocent–he convinced the co-host of The View to change her stance on the issue.

Did you catch Judd Apatow on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon earlier this week?

What is your take on his Bill Cosby-bashing stand up routine?

  • Alicia Silverstone and Amy Schumer: Clueless About Fashion?

Alicia Silverstone was already turning heads when the movie Clueless came out 20 years ago. After that film hit, Silverstone enjoyed a reputation based largely on her character, Cher, from the film. Everyone thought Alicia Silverstone was a real fashion icon.

The big secret, Clueless costume designer Mona May reveals now, is that Silverstone was a bit clueless about fashion.

“[Alicia] was really young, and I don’t think she was really experienced with high fashion. When we brought all this crazy stuff, it was a little bit new to her,” May said. “We almost had to educate her on how do you wear the clothes, how do you feel in the clothes? It’s a whole different thing of running around with your dogs in your sweatpants, as she always does to this day.”

“She was Cher in the sense of the innocence,” May explained, making the connection between Silverstone and her character. “Cher was never contrived, and I think Alicia’s heart is open like that, so it was fun to play with the clothes and teach her to be the high-fashion maven.”

Recently, Amy Schumer had a similar awakening, and at the hands of another costume designer.

During filming of her new film Trainwreck, Schumer got to know costume designer Leesa Evans. Schumer, like Alicia Silverstone, was not exactly comfortable with fashion.

“Not everyone’s wired to understand how to dress,” Schumer explains. “I don’t have that chip. I’ve sometimes not even wanted to leave the house because I can’t find an outfit. I feel best when someone who knows what they’re doing and knows me has dressed me. So ask a friend!”

For her appearance on the red carpet at the premiere of Trainwreck, Schumer hooked back up with Evans for some pre-show dress-up.

“I’m thrilled with Amy’s look from last night. It felt strong, daring and elegant,” Evans says. “In thinking about what dress would be perfect for Amy’s first film premiere, I wanted it to reflect all of the effort she put in as the writer, producer and star. Dion Lee designed a great dress, equal parts sexy, strong and sophisticated. I loved it on Amy.”

“I think the best part of this process has been that Amy has started to recognize that certain shapes and styles make her feel so great,” Evans said. “I love working with Amy because we both believe that confidence in dressing is more attractive than any one dress or outfit. I’m so happy that Amy has found a way to truly enjoy fashion both on and off the red carpet.”

  • Amy Schumer Sideboob Doesn’t Break Internet, Just Causes Drooling [Pics]

Amy Schumer is no pushover. She has railed long and hard against the idea that an actress is only worth something for as long as her youthful looks hold out believably against her male co-stars. Schumer has enlisted the aid of other Hollywood notables in her crusade against sexism and looks-first culture.

Amy Schumer told Glamour recently that being a feminist is not a vocation for her.

“I don’t try to be feminist. I just am,” Schumer said. “It’s innately inside me. I have no interest in trying to be the perfect feminist, but I do believe feminists are in good hands with me.”

Schumer herself sure does clean up nice, though. The ballsy actress looked no further than the costume designer for her new Judd Apatow-directed film Trainwreck for her red carpet look. Amy Schumer flashed some serious sideboob at the film’s premiere

Schumer was sure to thank costume designer Leesa Evans on Instagram.

Amy Schumer admits that fashion is not her strongest suit, but she is learning and having fun with it.

“Not everyone’s wired to understand how to dress. I don’t have that chip. I’ve sometimes not even wanted to leave the house because I can’t find an outfit. I feel best when someone who knows what they’re doing and knows me has dressed me. So ask a friend!”

The friend Amy Schumer chose was Leesa Evans.

  • Amy Schumer, Bill Hader Were Shocked To Land Lead Roles

Amy Schumer and Bill Hader star in the upcoming comedy Trainwreck–which Schumer wrote–and seem confident that the film, with Judd Apatow at the helm, will be a success. However, both of them were somewhat surprised when Apatow first championed them for the lead roles.

Schumer, who has been touring quite a bit since her appearance on Last Comic Standing in 2007, is also the star of her own sketch show on Comedy Central and has made a pretty big name for herself in Hollywood. But that doesn’t mean she felt she was ready to carry a film, even one she penned; as she says, she assumed that the studio would cast a glamorous actress, like Kate Upton, to take the lead while she sat on set with her “laptop and a messy bun, looking like a garden gnome”. That wasn’t Apatow’s vision.

“Had I gotten a phone call saying, ‘Oh, we’re going to have auditions for the role of Amy today,’ I would have said, ‘Yeah, of course,’ ” Schumer told the L.A. Times.

“But my entire world is based on the fact that we never do that to anybody. That’s like having someone else sing your song before you get to sing it,” Apatow said.

The film contains quite a bit of real-life subject matter for Schumer, including the fact that her father is battling multiple sclerosis.

“There is no denying that there is a lot of me in this movie. I, as they say, went there. It’s really personal. It’s about stuff I was struggling with and am constantly battling,” Schumer told Entertainment Weekly.

The biggest truth in the film, though, is that falling in love can be a very scary thing. For Schumer’s character–who lives a life full of barely-remembered one-night-stands until she meets Hader’s character–it’s terrifying.

“It’s scary to fall in love. I was falling in love with someone when I was writing it and it wasn’t even fun. It’s just terrifying. You’re just waiting to be hurt,” Amy Schumer said.

  • Amy Schumer On How Falling In Love Is More “Terrifying” Than Fun

Amy Schumer makes her living as a funny lady, but she isn’t afraid to delve into some darker territory when it comes time to talk about love, and that’s just what she did with Judd Apatow for the film Trainwreck. The film premieres in July, but it made its debut at SXSW over the weekend to a sold-out crowd, so fans of her naughty humor can expect the same brilliance she gives them on her show Inside Amy Schumer.

The film has a lot of Amy in it, she says; not only when it comes to her feelings on love and how difficult it can be, but also for the family aspect. Comedian Colin Quinn plays her father, who is battling multiple sclerosis–just like her real dad.

“There is no denying that there is a lot of me in this movie. I, as they say, went there. It’s really personal. It’s about stuff I was struggling with and am constantly battling,” Schumer told Entertainment Weekly.

Schumer is killing it in her career right now; not only is her show about to start up a third–and no doubt just as successful–season on Comedy Central, her stand-up routines are garnering huge laughs and great reviews. According to the Chicago Tribune, Amy knows how to play up her raunchy brand of humor for each audience.

“Regardless of what happens on the film front, the comic is already a master standup. During the first of two shows at the Chicago Theatre on Friday night, Schumer held the sold-out crowd in rapt attention for a solid hour. The crowd roared with non-stop laughter at her eccentric, sly and irreverent world view,” wrote Chrissie Dickinson.

Although Schumer says that Trainwreck deals with the darker aspects of love, fans at SXSW were happy with the injection of humor that the comedian brought, as well as the somewhat surprising performances by LeBron James and John Cena.

“It’s scary to fall in love. I was falling in love with someone when I was writing it and it wasn’t even fun. It’s just terrifying. You’re just waiting to be hurt,” Amy Schumer said.

  • Amy Schumer: “A Guy Could Literally Pull His D**k Out” And He’d Be A Thinker

Amy Schumer is one of the funniest comedians around, regardless of gender. However, her self-deprecating humor and her observational comedy centering on beauty standards and sex does offer a feminist slant. Her show Inside Amy Schumer has proven to be a success, and she will now be starring in the new Judd Apatow film Trainwreck, which she also co-wrote. She recently appeared in Night of Too Many Stars and delivered a brilliant 5-minute stand-up routine about sexism in Hollywood, and her observations couldn’t be more spot on.

“In L.A. my arms register as legs,” Schumer joked after saying that she’s glad that the show is held in New York. “They’re like, ‘What is that octopus walking around?’” The rest of her routine was centered on Hollywood’s obsession with body image, with Schumer saying that she was surprised that producers let her star in Trainwreck in the first place. However, Schumer said that the film’s producers have one condition: she has to stop eating.

“Maybe I don’t need to do anything. They asked me to star in a movie. Am I maybe gorgeous? I think every girl has this sneaking suspicion, but then my stunt double was a guy,” Schumer said, which elicited a round of applause and laughter from the audience.

And she did not stop at Hollywood’s obsession with losing weight. She even poked fun at her role as a female comedian. “I think that I get labeled a sex comic just because I’m a woman,” she said. “I feel like a guy could get up here and literally pull his d**k out and everyone would be like, ‘He’s a thinker.’”

Inside Amy Schumer has been renewed by Comedy Central for a third season which will last for 10 episodes. The show is a sketch comedy series that shares the same themes as her stand-up routine, so it’s definitely PG-13.

  • Marisa Tomei And Daniel Radcliffe Cuddle In Public

Despite what Judd Apatow says, there is photographic evidence to prove it.

Marisa Tomei and Daniel Radcliffe are part of the cast for the new Apatow comedy Trainwreck. There were no official statements released that the two actors were in the film, however, several pictures of both Radcliffe and Tomei were snapped and posted online. The pictures were taken in New York City, which serves as one of the locations for the comedy.

It appears as if Radcliffe, 24, and Tomei, 49, are a romantic couple in the film. In the pictures posted online, the seemingly mismatched pair is surrounded by a litter of cute dogs. Radcliffe was also spotted earlier this week walking twelve dogs at the same time in the crowded streets on NYC while smoking a cigarette. It looks like he is a dogwalker/trainer in the comedy.

Apatow is obviously keeping the details of Trainwreck a secret. On the film’s imdb.com page, it simply reads, “Plot details are being kept under wraps.”

In response to the many pictures taken of Radcliffe walking the dogs (they were all over the internet this week) for Apatow’s film, the director jokingly denied any and all speculation in a tweet.

The film also stars Brie Larson, Bill Hader, Amy Schumer, Tilda Swinton, and Ezra Miller. Comedian Amy Schumer wrote the screenplay for the movie. Trainwreck is set for a July 24, 2015 release date.
