The producers are Mark Gordon, Guymon Casady of Film 360, Scott Rudin and Academy Award winner Christian Colson.

The film will hit theaters on October 9th.

  • Penny Dreadful New Full Trailer, Premiere Date Is Out. See It Here! [Video]

Penny Dreadful fans are just going to have to wait a few more months. Showtime has announced that the first time we’ll be able to see the team in anything new will be Sunday, April 26th at 10PM.

But at least they gave us a delicious new full-length trailer to taste until then. That video is just below. But let us digress for just a moment, for those who may not be familiar with the glory that is Showtime’s Penny Dreadful series.

After a first season on Showtime, Penny Dreadful is set for a second season. The show gets its name from a British colloquialism that is roughly the equivalent of the American term “pulp fiction.” A “penny dreadful” was a horror story printed on cheap pulp paper and available to buy for just a penny.

The late 19th century saw an explosion of horror-type stories, including The Picture of Dorian Gray, Dracula, Frankenstein, and many others. The Showtime series has its roots in these kinds of tales, blending together characters from these and other stories from the horror genre.

Show creators have spoken about the explosion of these kinds of tales in the late 19th century, pointing out that England was on the cusp of the industrial revolution. The expanded possibilities of harnessed lightning (electricity), conquered skies (flight), and covering great distances in short time (motorized travel) were upon them.

Writers of that period imagined the possibilities — and horrors — of these advances in the world and wrote about them, much the same way that writers in our own time might conjure up visions of high-tech police work (Minority Report), science bringing dinosaurs back to life (Jurassic Park), or alien encounters (pick a movie). We see these things as more possible than ever, knowing what we do about our own current abilities and technology.

Since there has only been one season of Penny Dreadful so far, look for another marathon of episodes just before the next season premieres in April. There was already one on New Year’s Eve. There are only eight in the first season. Catching up will be easy.

The series stars Eva Green, Timothy Dalton, Josh Hartnett, Reeve Carney, Rory Kinnear, Billie Piper, and Harry Treadaway. Minor characters promise to become regulars in the upcoming season, so hop on while you can.

    Now here’s that trailer!

  • American Sniper: Chris Kyle Story Buzz Says Bradley Cooper Third Oscar Nom [Video]

American Sniper, the story of U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, hits theaters on Christmas Day. The Clint Eastwood-directed film is based on the 2012 memoir by Kyle himself.

In the film version of American Sniper, Bradley Cooper plays Chris Kyle. Kyle was a sharpshooter, and is known as “the deadliest sniper in US history.” He took it as his personal mission to protect his fellow soldiers on the ground in battle after battle. He saved so many Marine lives — and took so many enemy lives — that his fellow SEALS called him The Legend.

The enemy called him “Al-Shaitan Ramadi” — “The Devil of Ramadi.” Before he left the Middle East for the last time, Chris Kyle had 160 confirmed kills out of 255 probable kills, including one from over a mile away.

“After the first kill, the others come easy. I don’t have to psych myself up, or do anything mentally — I look through the scope, get the target in the cross hairs and kill my enemy before he kills one of my people,” Kyle wrote in “American Sniper.”

Saving the lives of fellow American servicemen was what it was all about for Kyle. The fact that he was later killed by a fellow serviceman lends an ugly irony to his story.

Clint Eastwood took on the America Sniper project, and cast Bradley Cooper to play the storied hero. Word around the campfire is that Bradley Cooper could walk away from this film with his third Oscar nomination in a row. The first two were for Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle.

Lots of people are hoping the film does well at the box office. Before his death, Kyle was sued by former Minnesota governor and former professional wrestler Jesse Ventura over a story he recounted in his book. Ventura continued with the lawsuit even after Kyle’s death, naming his estate in the suit. Ventura won that suit, and was awarded $1.8 million. Ventura has said that Kyle’s publisher — or their insurance — will pay the asard, not Kyle’s widow. But she insists that is not the case.

“I think insurance is responsible for $500,000 because of the way the law is written,” Taya Kyle said. She insists that the rest is coming out of her pocket.

  • ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ Teaser Trailer Released

‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ Teaser Trailer Released

The teaser trailer for Star Wars: Episode VII was released Friday, and was viewed almost five million times within hours.

The trailer for the seventh installment of the Star Wars space opera, entitled The Force Awakens, features Tattooine-esque sand dunes, an odd type of R2 droid, storm troopers, a Sith with an unorthodox lightsaber, some X-wings flying in formation low over water and a shot of the Milleneum Falcon going up against some TIE fighters.

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens is produced by Walt Disney Pictures, Lucasfilm and Bad Robot Productions, and will be distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. The film is set to be released on December 18, 2015.

    Here is the clip:

The Force Awakens stars Christina Chong, Lupita Nyong’o, Crystal Clarke, Gwendoline Christie and Daisy Ridley. It’s been reported that Star Wars: Episode VII now has more female speaking parts than the entire original trilogy combined.

The new male leads include John Boyega, Andy Serkis, Adam Driver, Max von Sydow, Domhnall Gleeson and Oscar Isaac.

George Lucas is on board as a creative consultant, and former cast members Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher will reprise their iconic roles, along with Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker. Billy Dee Williams and Ewan McGregor are also rumored to be in the cast.

  • ‘Jurassic World’ Trailer Teaser: Clues About The Movie?

On Sunday morning, fans of Jurassic Park were given their first true glimpse at the upcoming sci-fi action thriller Jurassic World, starring Chris Pratt.

Pratt is just off the very successful Guardians of the Galaxy. The movie was a surprise hit for Marvel Studios, which promises a sequel will be out in a few years.

For now, moviegoers can get their “Star Lord” fix courtesy of Jurassic World.

After the commercial (and visual) failure of the third Jurassic movie, there was some heavy skepticism about the potential of this new movie.

However, it seems that director Colin Trevorrow is determined to bring back the magic and wonder experienced with the very first Jurassic Park.

The teaser for the upcoming trailer doesn’t give away too much.

It features a collection of images that show that at some point, John Hammond’s vision for a park filled with dinosaurs has come to fruition.

We see a tour bus filled with spectators witness a herd of dinosaurs run past it, which suggests that the park is indeed open to the public.

That is followed by footage of a man and boy in a bubble ball-shaped vehicle, also interacting with dinosaurs.

We see a woman (Bryce Dallas Howard) who turns to look at something or someone off-camera. Her facial expression reads, “Trouble in paradise”.

She appears to be facing (or the effect of the trailer gives that impression) Chris Pratt’s character, whose own demeanor is rather grim.

These are not people who look as though everything is going well, so we can only speculate as to what has gone horribly, horribly wrong.

The full Jurassic World trailer is set to come out on Thanksgiving on NBC during the football game between the Seattle Seahawks and the San Francisco 49ers.

Have you seen the trailer? Are you excited for the Jurassic World movie?

  • #GoneGirl: New David Fincher Movie Starring Ben Affleck Blazes in with New Trailer

David Fincher’s newest movie, Gone Girl, will not be in theaters until October 3rd, a good six months from now, but the trailer has been released now. For the most part, buzz has been created. The New York Daily News declared “Holy dark character dramas, Batman!”, since the drama stars Ben Affleck (but not as batman). Also featured are actors Rosamund Pike, Neil Patrick Harris, Missi Pyle, and Tyler Perry.

Like Fincher’s previous movie, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Gone Girl is based on a book. The story involves a husband and his missing wife, but according to Entertainment Weekly, she might be dead, or murdered, or kidnapped, or something else entirely. Affleck may play the good guy, or he might be the killer. “I don’t know what ‘likable’ is. I know people who are doting parents, who give to charity, drive Priuses, all those things, who are insufferable a- -holes,” Fincher told Weekly, “I like people who get s - - - done.” So is Affleck’s character an “insufferable a- -hole” or will he “get s - - - done”?

The whole affair is really up in the air. Fincher said he “may have been too beholden to the source material” when making The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo, which will not be a problem since he has the writer of the novel restructuring the story. Author Gillian Flynn said “There was something thrilling about taking this piece of work that I’d spent about two years painstakingly putting together with all its eight million LEGO pieces and take a hammer to it and bash it apart and reassemble it into a movie.” The Film Stage reported Flynn showed the new ending to Affleck who was “so shocked by it. He would say, ‘This is a whole new third act! She literally threw that third act out and started from scratch.’”

New material did not stop the trailer from borrowing material from other movies. The song that played through the trailer was “She”, covered by Richard Butler, lead singer of the Psychedelic Furs. Although the original song was written in 1974 by Charles Aznavour, it was made famous by Elvis Costello when he covered it in the movie Notting Hill.

And could it just be said that the second to last line of the trailer is suspiciously similar to the movie The Fugitive? E! News explained that the line references other characters in the movie who do not believe Affleck’s character’s innocence. Hopefully the killer doesn’t turn out to be a man with one arm.

  • Lindsay Lohan Gets Scolded by Oprah

Viewers were treated to a special sneak peak of what to expect on the new Oprah Winfrey backed docu-series “Lindsay.” The reality show is set to premiere on OWN this Sunday at 10 pm. A teaser trailer has made its way around the internet, and it features an already fed up Oprah telling Lindsay to get herself together.

After one of Oprah’s assistant’s tells the former Queen of talk that Lohan is not following the established rules and not being cooperative with the production, Winfrey replies, “This is exactly what everybody said was gonna happen, and I believed differently. She doesn’t understand, this is your life!”

Oprah later confronts Lohan, “I really do want you to win.” She then adds, “You need to cut the bullsh*t, you really do.”

Here’s a look at the trailer. Several familiar faces make an appearance including Lohan’s spotlight-seeking parents Michael and Dina. We also see Lohan’s defeated-looking “sober coach.” There are plenty of tears, personal claims of staying clean, and of course complaints about the paparazzi and how Lohan “feels like a prisoner all the time.”

Many questions emerge from the trailer that may spark viewer interest. Will the 27-year-old actress use the show as a way to win back the hearts of the public? She was nearly at “America’s Sweetheart” level after successful star-making turns in Freaky Friday and Mean Girls. However, after multiple stints in rehab, several arrests, jail time, and constant bad press…can Lohan make a comeback? Or is she already washed up? Is she even capable of acting responsible and putting in the necessary hard work that it takes to stay sober and act like a professional?

She says at the end of the video, “I know this is my last shot at doing what I love to do.” Only time will determine if she actually means what she says. Either way, by the looks of this trailer, audiences who do tune in should expect to see a lot of drama.

One thing is for sure, Lohan still has plenty of fans that root for her. She currently has over 7.8 million followers on Twitter, and that number should go up dramatically after Sunday night.

  • Godzilla Roars And Bryan Cranston Panics In New Movie Trailer

Warner Bros. has released a new trailer for Godzilla in which fans get to hear the monstrous roar and see Bryan Cranston freak out.

The movie’s second trailer debuted online on Tuesday, and shows why “Godzilla” is synonymous with destruction and mayhem. The trailer gives viewers sweeping shots of the smoldering city, a skyline covered in smoke, falling sky jumpers, a gargantuan rising tide, and people running for their lives.

The highlight of the trailer is Cranston, as scientist Joe Brody, shaking and seething amidst the widespread destruction. “It wasn’t an earthquake…What’s really happening is that you’re hiding something out there,” he accuses the government, “and it’s going to send us back to  the Stone Age!”

What did the government do now, and what are they hiding?

The trailer reveals that in 1954, the same year as the original Japanese movie, the nuclear tests being conducted by the United States military in the Pacific were not tests at all. They were actually trying to kill the monster, to no avail. The nuclear blasts just served to annoy the beast instead of inflicting damage.

It appears that the people were being told that the recent rumblings and catastrophes were caused by a typhoon, or probably an earthquake, or some other natural disaster. Brody, of course, had the gut feel that it wasn’t so, with the state of devastation he’d seen. Thus Brody’s panicked outburst.

And how could he not, when Godzilla looks to be stronger and more impenetrable than ever? Ken Watanabe, who plays a Japanese scientist, gravely says that man’s arrogance is in thinking that nature is within our control, “And not the other way around.”

Director Gareth Edwards shows viewers glimpses of the monster of all monsters, but is careful not to show Godzilla’s whole body yet. Fans will have to wait until the movie is released on May 16, but for now everyone can see Godzilla’s spiky reptilian back and his chops, bared in a horrific roar.

  • 22 Jump Street Debuts Trailer, See It Now [Video]

A year after the release of 21 Jump Street, fans can get ready for another round with 22 Jump Street. The buddy cop comedy features Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill, and while the two of them went undercover as high-school students in the first film, they will be taking on college in the sequel.

21 Jump Street was released in 2012, and is based on the original television series that aired from 1987-1991, which starred Johnny Depp before he got famous.

This time around, 22 Jump Street will see officers Jenko, played Channning Tatum, and Schmidt, played by Jonah Hill, find themselves going undercover at a local college as freshman. The two of them plan to bust up a drug ring inside a fraternity, which of course yields hilarious results.

While they are not attending classes as they did, they will certainly look out of place, and too old to be there. Channing Tatum, as a 33-year-old, and Jonah Hill, 29, are anything but the age of a college freshman. At one point in the trailer, a student even tells them “You look old as sh*t to be here.”

Nick Offerman, who is famous for playing Ron Swanson on NBC’s Parks And Recreation, also makes an appearance in the 22 Jump Street trailer to tell the two officers that no one cares about the jump street reboot, in his signature voice that will make all fans of his famous Ron Swanson character get even more excited for the film.

As a fair warning, the 22 Jump Street trailer is inappropriate at times, and not safe for work, containing adult language and themes. The pair of actors are back for more, and those who enjoyed the 2012 reboot, which gained critical and commercial success, should love this film as well. In addition, Ice Cube, Dave Franco, and several other actors have been brought into the sequel.

Some fans have already seen the trailer and took to twitter to show their excitement.

  • “300: Rise of an Empire” Full-Length Trailer Released

Back in 2007 when “300” was released, no one really thought a sequel would ever come about. I mean the movie was based on a very popular graphic novel, which had a clear beginning and end. Sadly, this wasn’t the case as “300: Rise of an Empire” is set to release in 2014.

The film follows the story of General Themistocles who is sent to avenge the death of his King and his fallen countrymen. Along the way he must battle the Persian overlord Xerxes, once again played by Rodrigo Santoro, and the murderous armada let by Artemisia, played by Casino Royale’s Eva Green. If you’d like a little fore information on the film, you can read the official synopsis below:

“After its victory over Leonidas’ 300, the Persian Army under the command of Xerxes marches south towards the major Greek city-states. The Democratic city of Athens, first on the path of Xerxes’ army, bases its strength on its fleet, led by admiral Themistocles. Themistocles is forced to an unwilling alliance with the traditional rival of Athens, oligarchic Sparta whose might lies with its superior infantry troops. But Xerxes still reigns supreme in numbers over sea and land.”

“300: Rise of an Empire” stars Sullivan Stapleton, Eva Green, Rodrigo Santoro, Lena Headey, and David Wenham among others. The will see a wide release on March 7, 2014.

  • “The Monuments Men” International Trailer Released

One film that I personally was looking forward to this Holiday season was, “The Monuments Men”, which was based on Robert M. Edsel’s non-fiction bestseller. It’s the story of eight ordinary art experts who are sent behind enemy lines to save some of history’s greatest works of art before being destroyed by Hitler’s army.

Sadly, the film has been pushed back into early 2014… but before you go getting all down about it, you can check out the newly released international trailer for the film above. If you’d like even more information on the film, you’ll find the official synopsis below:

“Based on the true story of the greatest treasure hunt in history, ‘The Monuments Men’ is an action-thriller focusing on an unlikely World War II platoon, tasked by FDR with going into Germany to rescue artistic masterpieces from Nazi thieves and returning them to their rightful owners. It would be an impossible mission: with the art trapped behind enemy lines, and with the German army under orders to destroy everything as the Reich fell, how could these guys – seven museum directors, curators, and art historians, all more familiar with Michelangelo than the M-1 – possibly hope to succeed? But as the Monuments Men, as they were called, found themselves in a race against time to avoid the destruction of 1000 years of culture, they would risk their lives to protect and defend mankind’s greatest achievements.”

“The Monuments Men” stars George Clooney, Matt Damon, Cate Blanchett, Bill Murray, John Goodman, Jean Dujardin, Bob Balaban, and Hugh Bonneville. After a small delay, which bumped it from the award season, the film is scheduled for wide release on February 7, 2014.

  • Watch Joaquin Phoenix Fall In Love With His Smartphone in “Her”

In the same vein as Ryan Gosling’s “Lars and the Real Girl” comes Spike Jonze latest film, “Her”. The film sees Joaquin Phoenix meet the woman of his dreams… she’s funny and sympathetic to his needs, the only probelm is he’s fallen in love with his smart phone, specifically the artificial voice of his phones operating system.

If you’d like a little more information about “Her”, you can read the films official synopsis below:

“Set in Los Angeles, slightly in the future, HER follows Theodore Twombly, a complex, soulful man who makes his living writing touching, personal letters for other people. Heartbroken after the end of a long relationship, he becomes intrigued with a new, advanced operating system, which promises to be an intuitive entity in its own right, individual to each user. Upon initiating it, he is delighted to meet “Samantha,” a bright, female voice, who is insightful, sensitive and surprisingly funny. As her needs and desires grow, in tandem with his own, their friendship deepens into an eventual love for each other.”

The film is garnering praise from various critics, especially Scarlett Johansson, although only her voice is featured in the film. It should be noted that the voting committees for both the Oscars and the SAG awards are allowing her performance eligible for consideration, so prepare to see a marketing campaign pushing Johansson for both awards.

“Her” also stars Amy Adams, Rooney Mara, Olivia Wilde, and the voice of Scarlett Johansson. The film is set to release on December 18, 2013, with a wider release on January 10, 2014.

If you’d like a little more information on the film, you can read the official synopsis below:

  • WATCH – Machete Kills Again … In Space

After the disappointing box-office numbers for “Machete Kills” it’s hard to see any scenario where there will be third film in the Machete series. This didn’t stop Robert Rodriguez from creating a mock-trailer entitled “Machete Kills Again … in Space”.

The preview was attached to the theatrical run of “Machete Kills”, and it’s everything you could want in a fake trailer. You can check it out for yourself below:

If you’d like a little more information on the film, you can read a synopsis of the film below:

“Watch Danny Trejo’s machete-wielding, ex-Federale anti-hero as he defies zero gravity to fight a masked space villain with the help of a light saber. The galactic version of Michelle Rodriguez’s eye-patched rebel character Luz is also thrown into the mix, along with Alexa Vega’s KillJoy and a useless robotic sidekick that resembles Buck Roger’s Twiki, which supposedly has the voice of Justin Bieber before Machete points a Han Solo-type gun and blasts it to smithereens. (Machete don’t tweet — or have Bieber fever, apparently.) The mention of Lady Gaga and Leonardo DiCaprio are also playfully hinted for cameos.”

“Machete Kills” will release on Blu-ray on January 21, 2014.
