  • Alfonso Ribeiro Performs Despite Pain on ‘Dancing With the Stars’

Alfonso Ribeiro performed Monday night on Dancing With the Stars, despite being in a great deal of pain. Since injuring his back more than a week ago, Alfonso didn’t know if he would be able to continue in the competition. He proved naysayers wrong, however, and gave it his all during Monday’s semifinal rounds, even though it was abundantly clear the Fresh Prince of Bel Air star was in excruciating pain following the competition.

Alfonso and pro partner Witney Carson wowed fans with their dream-themed dance in which they wore costumes akin to pajamas. What truly impressed everyone–including the judges–were the lifts Alfonso Ribeiro executed beautifully–carrying Witney gracefully across the dance floor. As CBS reports, “Dancing through the pain gave his performance a complexity and depth he hasn’t shown so far this season.”

So who went home on Monday night? Alfonso Ribeiro fans–including his former Fresh Prince of Bel Air cast mates–are hoping it wasn’t him. If you didn’t tune in to watch Dancing With the Stars on Monday, this serves as your spoiler alert.

Bethany Mota and Derek Hough, along with Janel Parrish and Val Chmerkovskiy both received perfect 10 scores from the judges. Tommy Chong and Peta Murgatroyd along with Sadie Robertson and Mark Ballas were the only couples left standing after Bethany and Derek, Janel and Val, and yes, Alfonso Ribeiro and Witney Carson were all declared safe.

Tommy Chong and pro partner Peta bid adieu to Dancing With the Stars on Monday evening.

Next week starts finals week on Dancing With the Stars. Do you think his back injury puts Alfonso Ribeiro at a significant disadvantage going into the finals?

Who do you expect (or hope) might win Dancing With the Stars and take home that coveted mirror ball trophy? Will it be Sadie Robertson and Mark Ballas, Bethany Mota and Derek Hough, Janel Parris and Val Chmerksovskiy, or Alfonso Ribeiro and Witney Carson?

Stay tuned next week to find out.

  • Cheryl Burke Hanging Up Her DWTS Dancing Shoes?

Dancing With the Stars dance pro Cheryl Burke dropped a bombshell Monday on Good Morning America when she announced that this will be her last season on the popular ABC dancing competition.

    Say it isn’t so!

“As of now, this is probably going to be my last season,” the two-time champion said on the day of the first live performance with her season 19 star partner, Antonio Sebato Jr.

For a decade, the dancing star has been a fixture on the hit ABC series for 18 out of the show’s 19 seasons.

“I started when was 20. I’m 30. I want to try new things and just see what’s out there,” she explained.

The two-time mirror ball winner has appeared in the finals seven times and the semi-finals 10 times.

The complete Dancing With The Stars celebrity roster for tonight’s premiere looks like this:

Olympian Lolo Jones; partnered with Keo Motsepe
Tommy Chong of Cheech and Chong; partnered with Peta Murgatroyd
Duck Dynasty star Sadie Robertson; partnered with Mark Ballas

One of these teams will be eliminated tonight. Who do you think will have to turn in their dancing shoes?

Dancing With the Stars airs 8 p.m. every Monday on ABC.

  • ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Season 19 Premiere

‘Dancing With the Stars’ Season 19 Premiere

Dancing With the Stars premieres its 19th season on Monday evening, and the cast members are reportedly ready–and very excited–about their first forays across the dance floor.

Thirteen ‘stars’ will compete for that coveted mirrorball trophy throughout season 19. This season’s contestants include Jonathan Bennett, Tommy Chong, Randy Couture, Betsey Johnson, Lolo Jones, Bethany Mota, Janel Parrish, Alfonso Ribeiro, Sadie Robertson, Antonio Sabato, Jr., Tavis Smiley, Lea Thompson, and Michael Waltrip. Of course each of these contestants is paired with a dance professional. This season’s pros include Mark Ballas, Cheryl Burke, Sharna Burgess, Witney Carson, Artem Chigvintsev, Valentin Chmerkovskiy, Tony Dovolani, Allison Holker, Derek Hough, Keo Motsepe, Peta Murgatroyd, Emma Slater, and Karina Smirnoff.

Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba return to the Dancing With the Stars judges’ desk. They are also joined this season by two-time mirrorball trophy winner and film star Julianne Hough–whose brother Derek is one of the pro dancers.

USA Today reports that some of these ‘stars‘ are amateurs at best, and that it really is quite a stretch to call them stars. Since the show is called Dancing With the Stars, however, the producers had to do what they could to come up with contestants who could somewhat fit that criteria.

Duck Dynasty star Korie Robertson is already soliciting votes for daughter Sadie Robertson.

Will you be tuning in to the season 19 premiere of Dancing With the Stars on Monday evening, September 15th, at 8PM? Dancing With the Stars airs on ABC.

Which of the ‘stars’ might you be rooting for during season 19?

  • Tommy Chong Gets Ready To Show Off His Moves For ‘Dancing With The Stars’

Half of the comedy duo Cheech & Chong is firing up the new season of the hit reality TV series Dancing With The Stars. Tommy Chong is set to join the cast of Season 19 of the show and display his dancing prowess in the hopes of coming out the winner of this long-running celebrity competition.

At the age of 76, Chong is the oldest competitor thus far to be on the show, but the Cheech & Chong member apparently isn’t fazed by his age and believes that his multi-racial background will win him votes. Chong reportedly said that the fact that he was half-Chinese would make him viable for the Chinese vote, as well as that of other ethnicities such as Korean and Filipino.

“And then because of my association with Cheech, he’s Mexican, so I want to get all the Mexican viewers. And I’m half Scottish and half Irish, so all the Irish and all the Scottish. And I was born in Canada, so all the Canadians. And I’m an American citizen, so all the American citizens around the world. And we’re really big in Australia, so all the Australians. I mean, we can’t lose. Plus, I’m the king of the stoners — so all the stoners. And they’re the kind that’ll vote four or five times ’cause they’ll forget and vote again!” added Chong.

Chong didn’t say if he was going to smoke weed as a secret weapon in Dancing With The Stars, but he has been vocal about using salsa dance to recover from drugs. He has reportedly claimed that the Latin dance style’s fast-paced tempo puts him in a good mood. Competitors Janel Parrish and her partner Val Chmerkovksiy recently told Us Weekly that Chong “has some moves” as well as “the illest hip action I’ve ever seen, for sure.”

  • ‘Dancing With the Stars:’ Who Are These Stars?

Dancing With the Stars hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews announced the new season’s cast a few days ago, leaving some fans to ask, “Where are the stars?” Of course it was pretty likely from the inception of the show that they would eventually run out of real stars–but Tommy Chong? He and Cheech Marin made up the duo famously known as ‘Cheech and Chong.’ The two smoked enough pot back in the 1970s to leave them with a life long case of the munchies.

In addition to Tommy Chong, who will be paired with dance pro Peta Murgatroyd, is a lineup of cast members who might become stars by appearing on Dancing With the Stars, but really aren’t stars as of yet. A few were stars, but haven’t had that claim to fame for a very long time.

Sadie Robertson is Phil Robertson’s granddaughter and she sometimes appears on Duck Dynasty, so that makes her a ‘sort-of’ star–maybe even a ‘star in training.’ Sadie will compete on Dancing With the Stars with Mark Ballas.

Michael Waltrip is a star if you’re a pro racing fan. He will temporarily trade in his race car for dancing shoes and is paired with DWTS pro Emma Slater.

Lolo Jones is an Olympic star, unless you count her efforts on the bobsled during the 2014 Winter Olympics. She will dance with Keo Motsepe, and can at least outrun everyone on the show if she feels she’s too embarrassed to continue on with the competition.

Jonathan Bennett joins Dancing With the Stars following (no one said ‘following soon thereafter’) his appearance in the 2004 film Mean Girls. He won’t be dancing with Lindsay Lohan, but rather with dance pro Allison Holker.

If you loved Back to the Future, you’ll remember Lea Thompson, who played Marty McFly’s (Michael J. Fox) love interest Lorraine Baines. She has come back to the present to dance with Artem Chigvintsev.

Antonio Sabato, Jr. earned his stardom on General Hospital and Melrose Place, meaning when the drama gets ridiculous on Dancing With the Stars, he just might be involved. Cheryl Burke–his dance partner-in-crime–will likely hold him accountable for his actions, however.

Randy Couture is a champion mixed martial artist who is trying to become a star as part of The Expendables franchise. In the meantime he is dancing with Karina Smirnoff on Dancing With the Stars.

Janel Parrish plays the role of Mona Vanderwaal on Pretty Little Liars. Hopefully she leaves Mona’s cunning personality on that set as she comes to the DWTS set to compete alongside the very handsome Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

Designer Betsey Johnson is a star in the fashion world. Might she be there to help out with the costumes she and partner Tony Dovolani will wear during this season’s competition?

Bethany Mota comes to your TV straight from YouTube. She is a beauty expert with more than seven million followers. How does that even happen? She is dancing with just one Dancing With the Stars pro, however–Derek Hough–whose sister Julianne Hough will be sitting at the judge’s table this season.

Alfonso Ribeiro comes from 1996–the last year The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air aired. He played the role of Carlton Banks opposite Will Smith. Will couldn’t be his dance partner on Dancing With the Stars (oh–he wasn’t asked?) so Alfonso is dancing with pro Witney Carson instead.

Rounding out this season’s contestants is Tavis Smiley. The talk show host (most of us don’t know where he did that talking) will dance with Sharna Burgess.

Will you be tuning in to watch this season of Dancing With the Stars? It premieres on September 15th on ABC. How many of this season’s ‘stars’ do you recognize?

  • DWTS Season 19 Cast Includes Tommy Chong

DWTS Season 19 Cast Includes Tommy Chong

The DWTS season 19 cast is pretty interesting this time around! The cast was announced on Thursday’s Good Morning America.

The cast includes Alfonso Ribeiro, star of the 90s hit sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Joining Carlton on the show will be track star Lolo Jones and young fashion sensation, Bethany Mota.

Others joining the fray are Lea Thompson, Mean Girls star Jonathan Bennett, 90s teen dreamboat Antonio Sabato, Jr., and Sadie Robertson among others.

However, the most interesting addition to this year’s DWTS season 19 cast is Tommy Chong.

You know, of Cheech & Chong fame?

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h79syNcZo6A

The one question I can’t shake is, how will his weary, pot smoke-riddled lungs hold up to the physical challenges of training and performing on the show?

    We shall see, I guess.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47MlDd6UNlI

Tommy Chong is the oldest competitor on DWTS. At 76 years young, he just barely beats out fellow competitor Betsey Johnson.

Isn’t that worrisome to him? Well, perhaps it will be good for him to get a little cardio in.

I also wonder if this will come up with Alfonso Ribeiro?

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0QZN7p3IH_U

Dancing With The Stars season 19 wouldn’t do the show justice if there weren’t an incident of the Carlton dance.

Sadie Robertson will also be interesting to watch as this has apparently been a dream of hers. Her mother, Korie Robertson, seemed to have predicted this happening when she talked to US Weekly in May.

“I think that our kids are really natural in front of the camera and they have fun with it,” she said about her kids continuing in the entertainment world. “Sadie I think wants to maybe be on a talk show and she wants to be on Dancing with the Stars!”

Can’t wait to see how the DWTS season 19 cast does on the show! Good luck to all of those participating.

  • Cheech Marin: A Cheech & Chong Reunion?

Cheech Marin: A Cheech & Chong Reunion?

Cheech Marin says there may very well be a Cheech & Chong reunion in fan’s futures. The 67-year-old actor and comedian says he and Tommy Chong may soon be reuniting on film. It will certainly be interesting to see if the storyline matches those of the old days when Cheech & Chong smoked lots of pot, choked, laughed, and then got the munchies. Cheech & Chong have actually been on tour together in recent months.

Marin is in the news at the moment for an art exhibit that he launched at the Las Cruces Museum of Art in southern New Mexico recently. He has been an avid art collector for many years. The exhibit is called “Chicanitas: Small Paints from the Cheech Marin Collection,” and features 70 paintings from 29 Chicano artists. He has plans to open more of the same kinds of exhibits in locations around the world, including France. He will call the exhibits the “Chicanitas” tour.

It seems that if the Cheech & Chong reunion takes place, it will likely be in the form of an animated film.

The comedy duo’s present tour, however, definitely mirrors their old performances and is aptly named Up In Smoke.

Did you ever see Cheech & Chong in their movies or their comedy sketches that they were so famous for back in the 1970s?

It will certainly be interesting to see if the pair can actually make a comeback on the big screen. They likely will do quite well in Colorado.

Cheech Marin actually had a successful run of acting gigs following his time on film with Tommy Chong. He starred alongside Don Johnson in Nash Bridges and voiced several characters in Disney films including The Lion King, Cars, and Cars 2.

  • Tommy Chong Defends Daughter’s Slur Against Oprah

After Rae Dawn Chong’s rant, and sometimes rave, of Oprah Winfrey on a recent radio appearance, her father, Tommy Chong, has come to her defense.

If you haven’t been near any type of media recently, Rae Dawn said, “If you look at the way Oprah looks, she looks like 60 years ago she would have been a house keeper luckily. She would have not been a house n**ger, she would have been a field n**ger.”

The actor, most famous for his work in the Cheech and Chong films, defended his daughter to TMZ, saying “If you think of what [Rae] said, she said back in the day Oprah would be working in the field because she’s not that beautiful…whereas if you’re beautiful, you’re part of the master’s bedroom. Knowing Oprah, she would probably read [Rae’s comments] and just chuckle and probably agree with Rae Dawn…she probably would be working in the field.”

It seems Rae Dawn has been spending most of her time since the interview responding to people on Twitter. She started by tweeting out the full interview.

  • Tommy Chong Touts the Economic Benefits of Weed

Tommy Chong, along with co-star Ceech Marin, became famous in the 70s and 80s for the Ceeech & Chong movies, which satirized and glorified many aspects of hippie and stoner culture. Now, Chong is, unsurprisingly, advocating for the legalization of marijuana.

According to an Associated Press report, Chong recently stated that marijuana could be the cure for the ailing U.S. economy. Chong stated that legalizing and taxing marijuana and hemp could provide enough revenue to “save the world.” From the AP:

“Look at the situation we’re in now. Sequesters. Cuts. Everything cut across the board. Now, the government is tapped into the biggest cash crop in the world,” Chong said. “There’s little manufacturing cost. You don’t have to do anything except watch it grow and get a couple of hippies to cut it and then put it in a bag.”

Chong, who revealed last year that he battled prostate cancer, still tours occasionally with Marin. He is also using social media to promote marijuana legalization. His Facebook and Twitter accounts are filled with statements such as these:

  • Tommy Chong Reveals Struggle with Prostate Cancer

Tommy Chong, the comedian best known for his “Cheech & Chong” movies and his recurring role on “That 70’s Show”, told CNN on Saturday that he’s currently living with stage one prostate cancer. The actor/musician/activist stated that he became aware of the symptoms during a stint in jail for selling drug paraphernalia, though he was only diagnosed about a month ago.

During an interview about the legalization of marijuana, Chong dropped a bombshell on his legions of fans. “I’ve got prostate cancer, and I’m treating it with hemp oil, with cannabis,” he explained. “So (legalizing marijuana) means a lot more to me than just being able to smoke a joint without being arrested.”

Chong also admitted that he hadn’t smoked marijuana in over a year due to health concerns. Since the actor feels that “cannabis is a cure”, he’s been attempting to treat his cancer with hemp oil every night. “I’m taking it as a medicine,” he said.

In addition to starring in seven “Cheech & Chong” movies — four of which he directed — Chong has also appeared in a few sitcoms and penned a pair of books. His 2007 effort “The I Chong: Meditations from the Joint” chronicles his life following his arrest in 2003, while the 2009 tome “Cheech & Chong: The Unauthorized Autobiography” takes a look at the comedic duo during their heyday as America’s favorite hippie stoners.

In 2008, Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong reunited for a pair of successful tours, “Light Up America and Canada” and “The Felimony Tour,” thus ending the feud that began after the comedians went their separate ways in 1985.

  • Snoop Dogg Has A Smokable Song Book

Snoop Dogg Has A Smokable Song Book

Aside from maybe the Doobie Brothers and Cypress Hill, if there was anyone in the world that would make a book of their song lyrics doubling as a pack of rolling papers, it would be Calvin Broadus, Jr., aka, Snoop Dogg. And that, folks, is just what he’s done. Introducing “Rolling Words,” a collection of classic Snoop Dogg lyrics, printed on paper that can also be used to smoke your, um, tobacco products with.

    Yeah, we’ll say that.

Anyway, Snoop naturally took the viral airwaves to get word across, and since the video dropped, Snoop’s song book/rolling paper venture has gone wide. While it’s hard not to smirk at Snoop’s Bob Marley/Che’ visage on the packaging, unlike Tommy Chong, the D-O-Double-G is smart enough to not mention that one particular plant in association with his papers. There is a picture of a plant with spiky fronds, but the name of the plant itself is never mentioned. Nor is the act of “rolling a joint.”

Granted, we all know what these smokable pages are for, but as long as he doesn’t associate his product with weed in relation to Internet retail, Snoop will be just fine. Conversely, because Tommy Chong openly associated his glass paraphernalia with marijuana, he served time for his Internet entrepreneurial efforts.

As for Snoop’s smoke accessory venture, naturally, Twitter took notice as well:

Eh, with the lack of a true marijuana reference, balls didn’t really have much to do with it. Smart marketing, on the other hand…
