  • Brittany Ishibashi Joins Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 As Karai

Everybody’s favorite heroes in the half shell will be back on the big screen in 2016. But this time around, Brittany Ishibashi will be along for the ride.

The Political Animals actress has been cast to take on the role of Karai, Shredder’s daughter and the turtles’ sometimes ally, in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2.

The character has gone through several incarnations in the TMNT comics and cartoons. She was originally introduced as a high-ranking member of the Foot Clan, higher even than Shredder. But in some cartoons and comics, Karai was portrayed as being Shredder’s adopted daughter or biological granddaughter.

Whatever her backstory is, one thing is consistent – her love-hate relationship with the Turtle’s leader, Leonardo.

Ishibashi’s casting comes on the heels of rumors that iconic TMNT villain Krang will finally make an appearance. However, this hasn’t been confirmed yet.

But what is certain is that Karai, Shredder, Rocksteady and a host of villains will appear in the sequel.

The 34-year-old Ishibashi has been seen shooting her scenes alongside Brian Tee, who has been tapped to play the Turtle’s nemesis, Shredder and other Foot Clan members.

The two will join their fellow villains Casey Jones and Bebob, who are played by Stephen Amell and Gary Anthony Williams respectively.

Megan Fox is set to reprise her role as reporter April O’Neill. Will Arnett (Vern Fenwick), Alan Ritchson (Raphael), Pete Ploszek (Leonardo), Jeremy Howard (Donatello), Noel Fischer (Michaelangelo) and Danny Woodburn (Splinter) are also back, along with Tony Shalhoub and Johnny Knoxville.

Alessandra Ambrosio, Tyler Perry, Laura Linney, UFC fighter CM Punk and several members of the Los Angeles Clippers have also been casted.

The sequel to the 2014 hit will be helmed by David Green. The Earth to Echo’s director will try to recreate the success of the first film which grossed over $485 million worldwide.

  • Megan Fox Joins List Of Crappiest Movie Performances Of 2014, Wins Razzie

Megan Fox is no stranger to the Razzie Awards. The Golden Raspberry Award Foundation, which is now in its 35th year, honors the best of the worst films of the year and is often held the night before the Academy Awards. Fox has been nominated for Razzie Awards five times now, two of those for her work in the failed adaptation of the Jonah Hex comic book. Now, Fox was finally “honored” with the award for Worst Supporting Actress for last year’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Jonathan Liebesman-directed and Michael Bay-produced movie is also nominated for Worst Picture, and Worst Prequel, Remake, Ripoff or Sequel.

Other Razzie “winners” include Michael Bay, who won the award for Worst Director for Transformers: Age of Extinction. He previously won the same award for Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen. Actor Kirk Cameron and his film Kirk Cameron’ Saving Christmas also won the awards for Worst Actor, Worst Picture, Worst Screenplay, and Worst Screen Combo.

Ben Affleck, on the other hand, won the inaugural Razzie Redeemer Award. The award is given to actors who have redeemed themselves, which Affleck proved with his recent work including Argo and Gone Girl.

Despite performing well in the box office, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles proved to be a critical failure and is widely considered as one of the worst movies of 2014. In his review of the movie for The Telegraph, Robbie Collin wrote, “The script is equal parts pop-culture references, toilet humour and patience-sapping contrivance, while the director, Jonathan Liebesman, has yet to twig after making Wrath of the Titans two years ago that 3D visuals and jerky, quick-cut camerawork don’t mix.”

A sequel to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is currently in the works, and Megan Fox is set to return to reprise her role as April O’ Neil.

  • Megan Fox Promotes Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Amid Bad Reviews

In the face of more dismal reviews since the film’s launch, Megan Fox is keeping busy by promoting Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Fox was spotted on Sunday, October 26, at a press conference for the film in Beijing, China, along with co-star William Fichtner and movie producers.

All eyes at the Shangri-La hotel were reportedly on Fox, who showed up at the Chinese premiere in a short black dress paired with black-strapped heels. Fox was wearing her hair in loose waves and topped off her look with an orange eye mask, which she kept on her head instead of wearing over her eyes. The eye mask that Fox wore was similar to the masks worn by the crime-fighting turtles in the live action movie.

Beijing was supposedly one stop in a lineup of cities included in the global tour on which Fox and her colleagues embarked to promote Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Fox reportedly looked happy talking about the project at the press conference. Fox plays reporter April O’Neil in the film, a human liaison for the turtles. The film has successfully garnered $109 million since it opened recently.

Despite a successful international release for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the film is now facing bad reviews from critics. A review published in The Standard said that Fox had been “miscast as a smart cookie,” implying that her one strength was looking “pretty” in the film, and that the film was simply an origin story that lacked intellect and emotion.

The story of the film revolves around the plot of Shredder, the antagonist, working to take over New York. O’Neil, Fox’s character, then stumbles onto the four turtles, Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michaelangelo, who seem like the only creatures that can stop Shredder. “The new film diminishes whatever charm the plucky reptiles once had and settles for being just another dumb, mind-numbing action movie,” wrote a reviewer in Express.

  • Megan Fox Proudly Shares Pictures Of Sons On ‘Ellen Show’

Megan Fox, 27, proudly showed off pictures of his sons Bodhi, 2, and Noah, 19 months, on the Ellen Show.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles actress beamed when the pictures of her sons were shown. She described Bodhi as being the chubby one, and Noah as “the one with the lips.” Ellen DeGeneres joked about the toddler’s naturally pouty lips and told Fox that he is too young to have lip injections.

This is the first time the public has seen pictures of Fox’s son Noah with husband Brian Austin Green. Fox said that his youngest son looks “70 percent like Brian.”

Megan Fox appears on ‘Ellen Show’.

The first time Fox was a guest at the Ellen Show, nobody knew that she was pregnant. On her second visit, she had just had her baby. With the arrival of Noah, the family now has three boys – the two little boys Noah and Bohdi, and Kassius, 11, Green’s son from his previous relationship.

After giving birth to Noah in as recently as February, Fox is back in shape.

Fox also discussed her experiences while being pregnant with her first child, Bodhi. She said that she got pregnant with his son two weeks into shooting Ninja Turtles. The experience was hard for the actress as the film required her to jump, run, and do stunts. “I spent the whole shoot basically sick,” she said.

Although Fox is happy with her family right now, she admitted to DeGeneres that neither of her two sons were planned. “The first one wasn’t planned either and I mean, we can’t let Brian near me anymore,” she said.

Fox plays reporter April O’Neil on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which is slated for release in theaters on August 8. The film also features other stars, such as Tony Shaloub, Johnny Knoxville, Jeremy Howard, William Fichtner, and Will Arnet.

  • Vanilla Ice And The TMNT, Together Again

Vanilla Ice is responsible for some of the most questionable fashions to come out of the late ’80s and early ’90s, but he’s also responsible for some pretty catchy tunes, and one of them just happens to be an anthem for the Ninja Turtles. Don’t act like you didn’t get pumped up when you heard it.

With the reboot of the TMNT movie comes the inevitable marketing blast, and one of the products to plaster the turtles all over itself is Kraft Mac & Cheese. The commercial doesn’t star the lovable green guys, however; it stars Ice himself, working as a stockboy while singing “Go Ninja, go Ninja, go!” under his breath. The dancing mom is cringe-worthy, but a little bit of nostalgia never killed anyone.

Ice has actually been quite successful over the years, and not just in the music biz; he began “The Vanilla Ice Project” in 2009 on the DIY Network that focused on renovating a Palm Beach home and still works in the real estate business. He also still performs, most recently on tour with New Kids On The Block and Boyz II Men during their 2013 sold-out tour.

  • Ninja Turtles Reboot Characters Revealed With Photo Leak

Transformers film series producer Michael Bay has made great strides to conceal the details of his upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film. However, it appears a picture has finally leaked.

According to UPI, a poster image for the film surfaced on Thursday, Jan. 3o, and is slowly spreading like wildfire all over the web. The image revealed what fans can expect the new-aged ninja turtles to look like.

The picture, which was initially posted to Reddit, is being coined as an official image associated with Bay‘s forthcoming reboot. Later that day, The Verge reported news of the leaked image.

Bloggers, media outlets, and film enthusiasts immediately gravitated to the image and can be accredited for its rapid matriculation on the web. However, The Verge immediately updated the article stating that the image had been removed by request of Paramount Pictures.

While Bay has yet to confirm the authenticity of the image, the film studio leaves little question about its validity due to their abrupt request to have it removed.

However, the damage had already been done. Although the publication complied with the film studio, the image had already begun circulating around the internet. One film blogger also shared the picture via Twitter. His tweet read, “Michael Bay’s Ninja Turtles look suitably bada–. Can’t imagine Vanilla Ice turning up at the end of this new one…”

A number of other media reports have also poured in about the film as well.

The announcement of the came shortly after the original co-creator Peter Laird’s sold the franchise rights to Nickelodeon. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which is being produced by Nickelodeon Movies, is slated to hit theaters nationwide August 8, 2013.

  • Ninja Turtles Movie Delayed Again, Pushed to August 2014

The Ninja Turtles Movie seems to be in a bit of trouble. Since director Michael Bay announced in March 2012 that the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles would actually be space aliens, fans of the franchise have been giving the Transformers director hell on Twitter. This backlash continued as it was revealed that the movie’s title would be shortened to just Ninja Turtles.

The movie project has also been delayed repeatedly, from its original holiday 2013 release date to May 2014, and then again to June 2014. Now, the movie has been delayed yet again, according to a report from Deadline. The report states that Ninja Turtles will now be released on August 8, 2014, nearly a year after it was expected to be in theaters.

The reason for this latest delay reportedly has to do with Paramount’s film release schedule for summer 2014. The former Ninja Turtles release date of June 6 was close to the release of another Michael Bay-directed Paramount movie on June 27 – the upcoming sequel to the Transformers franchise. The Deadline report rumors that the toy merchandising campaigns for the two movies were conflicting.

Michael Bay’s Ninja Turtles movie will see the Turtles defend the earth from an alien invasion. The cast includes Megan Fox as April O’Neil and William Fichtner as Shredder. Other cast members include Will Arnett and Whoopi Goldberg.

  • New Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Video Games Announced

Activision and Nickelodeon today announced that they have teamed up to create new video games based on the rebooted Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles TV series that began airing last year. The deal encompasses three video games, the first of which will be released sometime this summer.

“The fans of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are unique in that they span generations and are very passionate,” said Kurt Niederloh, vice president of Activision Publishing Minneapolis. “We respect this passion and look forward to working with Nickelodeon to create games that embody the spirit of the property.”

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles video games have a storied history. The first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles video game was released for the original Nintendo console in 1989. Though it is considered one of the hardest games of all time, it sold well and is considered a classic. Two arcade games released around the same time, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Arcade Game and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time also went on to become hits and are considered classics of the side-scrolling beat ’em up genre. Since that time, most Ninja Turtles video games have been plagued by the same quality problems seen in many games created to cash in on licensed TV or Movie properties.

“We are confident that these upcoming games will take gamers through interactive environments and action-packed adventures that truly capture the essence, tone and exciting elements of the Turtles,” said Sherice Torres, SVP of Nickelodeon Consumer Products.

    Here’s hoping.

Is there anything better than a great triangle? The absurdity of that statement just goes to show you how exciting triangles really are. From the Tri-Force to the Bermuda Triangle, the triangle is shrouded in mystery and mysticism.

Josh Ln knows the pure power of the triangle and he shows his complete mastery of it with these awesome art pieces. Every piece you see here is made exclusively from triangles. He has these 4 but there are a bunch more on his Society 6 page. I did another feature on some of Josh Ln’s artwork last week and he is quickly becoming one of my favorite artists.

  • Videogame And Comic Nerd Baby Art Makes Us Go Awwww

    Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

I remember a few years ago that the whole baby thing was way in and some of the comic book companies (Marvel) even made real comic versions of these characters to interact with the X-Men. It was rather embarrassing for me to be a comic book fan at that time. But now, maybe because i’m older, baby versions of things are kinda cute.

The fight between good and evil is a battle that has been raging since the beginning of time. God fighting Lucifer and casting him down to hell, The Olympians fighting the Titans, the Rebellion fighting the Empire. These are age old battles that define us as human beings.

Artist Adam Limbert from the United States decided to put some of the greatest adversaries (and one set of friends) on the same pice of art work together to show how close they really are. Even though they are mortal enemies. He calls it his EGOS project. This is what he had to say about his project:

“My current EGOS project is just my illustrated way of giving back the cultural radness that I grew up with and that helped shape the person and artist I am today. It’s my “thank you” to all the artists and illustrators that gave me all the nerdy art stuff I love.”

  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Reboot Gets “Edgy”, Changes Title

Michael Bay, who is well known by now for taking the “Transformers” toy franchise and spinning it into big-screen gold, is working on a new film based on ’80s toys, and it’s already garnering a lot of negative attention by fans of the original cartoon and movies.

Let’s recap what we know about the project so far:

    • The Turtles will not necessarily be mutants, but rather aliens. From space.
    • They will be “edgy”. No further word on what exactly that entails.
    • The new title of the film has been confirmed as “Ninja Turtles“, which sort of suggests that they will not be teenagers in the reboot…unless it’s just a streamlining thing. Shorter, more vague titles are edgy, right?

Fans of the original are pretty much outraged at the changes, with the actor who voiced Michaelangelo in the original film saying that what Bay is doing is considered the “rape of our childhood memories“.

Bay, however, insists that he is working closely with the creators of TMNT to ensure the story is one fans will love…and says everyone should just “chill “.

While it isn’t clear yet just what the changes entail, the few leaks about the film that Bay has provided leave many wondering where the classic goofiness of the Turtles fits in with their new “edgy” makeover. Will they still inhale pizza? Is Michaelangelo still a “party dude”? And perhaps most importantly: will Vanilla Ice make an appearance in the sequel?

I wonder if the world’s biggest TMNT fan is upset about all this….

  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Fan Outrage Causes Michael Bay To Respond

Remember yesterday when Michael Bay tried, once again, to ruin our childhoods by announcing that his Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were going to be aliens? Well that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle fan outrage caused Michael Bay to respond. In case you didn’t have your mind blown yesterday. At a recent Nickelodeon event, Bay had this to say:

Michael Bay talks Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles by stuffwelike

Ummmmm, what? Aliens? Everyone, and I mean everyone, knows they are mutants. Transformed by ooze. And trained bySplinter to be Ninja Teens. NOT ALIENS!

In an effort to stop the complete fanboy/nerd rage, Bay went on his blog and posted this:

Fans need to take a breath, and chill. They have not read the script. Our team is working closely with one of the original creators of Ninja Turtles to help expand and give a more complex back story. Relax, we are including everything that made you become fans in the first place. We are just building a richer world.

    Michael

I believe he said something like this before he took a big crap on Transformers.

  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Will Be Aliens, According To Michael Bay

Michael Bay; filmmaker who just loves explosions or a man who’s out to ruin absolutely everything you loved about the 80’s? The answer becomes increasingly clear the more he opens his mouth, as he announced the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) will be receiving yet another reboot. Which puts the franchise at around its 30th or so reboot.

This time they won’t even be mutants, but will be aliens, or possibly alien mutants. Who really cares at this point, right? As long as you pay 9-plus dollars to go see it.

Hopefully it will be rated Arg for Pirates

Bay made the announcement at a Nickelodeon event last week, letting it be known that the movie will come out Christmas 2013.

If you’re unfamiliar with Michael Bay, he’s been the filmmaker responsible for the Transformer trilogy which sparked a wave of hatred from long time fans of the series. Seeing Bumblebee urinate oil on Jon Turturro was too much for those who were hoping the live action movie would deliver.

The announcement has trended high on Twitter, with most people not pleased…

Anytime I hear of something ridiculous happening in the world of Hollywood, I can’t help but think of this Kevin Smith monologue. Explaining the creative process he had with a producer on the Superman movie that could have been. Cause the only thing a movie ever needs is a giant fucking spider…

On a personal note, all will be forgiven if he can somehow bring Vanilla Ice back to conduct this little gem –

  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Opening In Stop Motion

The Internet, and in turn, the users who populate, is/are notorious for keeping intellectual properties alive, long past their shelf life has expired. In fact, this continuing interest helps revive many of these titles, essentially breathing life into properties that may otherwise die.

The example that leads this post is another great contribution from the user-generated pile. This time, the subject are the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the method of delivery is stop motion animation.

The video was brought to us by Kyle Roberts, and it uses over 4000 individual images, including over 60 hand-drawn creations. Naturally, the characters used for the stop motion aspect are action figures, and considering the extensive line Roberts and his crew had to pick from, it’s easy to see why the work is such a success.

According to the YouTube page, the creation was sponsored by “the Toy and Action Figure Museum, curator Kevin Stark designed many of the pieces in the original 1990 TMNT toy line.” Is that enough for the SOPA crowd or would such a creation require the permission of Nickelodeon, the now-owners of the TMNT property? Other credits include:

With over 4,000 individual pictures, Kyle Roberts and crew wanted to recreate the nostalgic 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon introduction in stop motion. Artist, Nathan Poppe, created over 60 hand-drawn images to establish a bright and vibrant backdrop to complement Roberts’ use of action figures. The original TMNT theme song was covered by Oklahoma native band, The Boom Bang, in their “garage surf punk” style. Each of these pieces can stand alone by themselves, but when infused together they create a radical tribute.

Hat-tip to Best Week Ever for pointing this out.
