  • Tiger Woods Struggles in Return to PGA Tour

If you’ve been wondering why you haven’t heard much from the golf world lately, it’s perhaps due to a few reasons: 1) The NBA Finals (Go Spurs!); 2) The World Cup (Go USA!); and 3) The absence of Tiger Woods.

Whether one appreciates Tiger Woods for the elite athlete he is or not, everyone has to admit that golf is a much more entertaining sport when he is on the green. Before teeing off at the Quicken Loans National at Congressional Country Club on Thursday, it had been 3 months, or 109 days, since Woods had last competed against golf’s best due to surgery on a pinched nerve in his back. And boy, did it show.

Woods started the day in a group with Jason Day and Jordan Spieth, two current top-ten ranked golfers in the world. With a grouping of such high caliber, one would expect Woods to elevate his game and shine. However, it seemed to be quite the opposite – Woods bogeyed the first two holes, as did his two partners.

“I think the hard part was just getting into the rhythm of playing competitively. You play with your buddies for cash and it’s just not the same. It’s not the same as tournament golf. Different level. It unfortunately took a while to get the feel for it. You saw the putt I hit on 11 was awful. I left it 10, 12 feet short. My feels were off,” stated Woods.

The rough start on the first two holes would trend through the front nine and through the first two holes of the turn, with Woods bogeying seven of the first 12 holes. In the last six, however, Woods would finally find his groove, birdieing three of the last six holes.

“He said it was a little different starting out and he finally found his rhythm and we saw what happens when he found his rhythm,” Spieth commented.

While he finished the day with a three over par 74, Woods was still happy with his overall performance: “The score is not really indicative of how I played. I had four up-and-downs right there on 15 through 18. I had an easy pick on 2, don’t get that up-and-down and a wedge in my hand on 3 and I jerk it in the bunker.”

Perhaps most importantly, Woods was satisfied with his health: “The back’s great. I had no issues at all. No twinges, no nothing. It felt fantastic.”

Despite his poor performance on Thursday, both fans and professional golfers alike are excited for Tiger’s return, with even Ernie Els (the man who has finished second to Woods more than any other golfer) commenting, “It’s good to have him back, man.”

  • Tiger Woods Signs MusclePharm Sponsorship Deal

MusclePharm Corporation, a popular nutritional supplement maker, announced this week that it has signed golfer Tiger Woods to a multi-year sponsorship deal. Woods joins other famous athletes such as Arnold Schwarzenegger and Colin Kaepernick, who also have endorsement deals with MusclePharm. The brand is also the “official supplement provider” for the UFC.

Under the terms of the deal Woods will appear in MusclePharm advertisements, including TV commercials. Woods will also promote the brand via social media and in-person appearances. Woods’s golf bag will also be updated to reflect the sponsorship. The sponsorship agreement takes effect starting July 1.

“One of the keys to success as an athlete is making sure you are fueling your body properly, which is at the core of MusclePharm’s mission,” said Woods. “This golf bag venture is a great way to launch this partnership. I look forward to working with MusclePharm to help people achieve their peak physical form.”

Woods is building a hefty roster of sponsorships again, following the athlete’s well-publicized affairs and divorce from ex-wife Elin Nordegren. Woods is now in another high-profile relationship with skiing champion Lindsey Vonn.

On the career side of his life, Woods earlier this year had been suffering from a pinched nerve in his back. The athlete had surgery to correct the issue in late March, which led to him dropping out of this year’s Masters Tournament.

“Tiger Woods is more than a golfer,” said Brad Pyatt, CEO of MusclePharm. “He is an elite athlete possessing legendary work ethic and determination, as well as a focus on remaining in top physical shape. We are excited to work with Tiger to bring more attention to nutritional science and how it can enhance strength and overall athletic performance – and most importantly – fuel athletes safely.”

  • Elin Nordegren Gives Graduation Speech, Takes Jabs at Tiger Woods

Elin Nordegren graduated with a 3.96 GPA from Rollins College’s Hamilton Holt School in Winter Park, Florida this weekend. During her commencement address she managed to get in a few jabs at her ex-husband Tiger Woods.

It took Elin nine years to graduate from night school with her degree in psychology. Doing so while raising two children and working as a model at the same time was certainly no small feat.

She immediately brought up the elephant in the room–her divorce from Tiger Woods, saying that it “was right after I had taken communication and the media,” and that “I probably should have taken more notes in that class.”

Nordegren initially tolerated the infidelities, but when she learned of his 15th mistress she famously chased him out of their home with a golf club and knew it was time to throw it that proverbial towel.

During her commencement speech she acknowledged that the entire very public ordeal was “some of the most challenging times” in her life, and she managed to do so without ever mentioning Tiger Woods by name.

“I have also realized that education has been the only consistent part of my life for the last nine years,” Nordegren said. “And it has offered me comfort — because education is the one thing that no one can take away from you.”

After she married Tiger Woods back in 2004 Elin often took just one class per semester and also took three major breaks– two for the births of her children and one for the divorce ordeal.

On Saturday she was honored as the Outstanding Graduating Senior. University officials lauded Nordegren for her determination as a single mother raising her two children, Sam and Charlie and for raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for charities benefitting under privileged children.

“I’ve been called a woman with no words in the media and criticized for not talking very much,” she said from the podium. “Words can be powerful. But what matters is the action behind the words.”

Congratulations to Elin Nordegren–not just for graduating from college at the top of her class with a degree in psychology, but for also remaining the quiet but powerful force she was throughout the entire Tiger Woods cheating scandal. She set a fine example–not only for women everywhere–but for her two children as well.

  • Elin Nordegren Befriends Lindsay Vonn

You would think that Tiger Woods’ ex-wife Elin Nordegren would harbor nothing but hostility towards his current girlfriend Lindsay Vonn.

However, sources have revealed to US Weekly that the two women have become unlikely friends.

“After meeting her, she found she actually liked her,” the source said of Nordegren. The source explained that Nordegren wanted to get to know Vonn because she knew that she would be spending a lot of time with her children.

“You’d think it would be weird, but Elin loves Lindsey and they talk all the time,” the source continued. “Elin likes that Lindsey is a strong woman.”

Actually, Tiger, Elin, Lindsay, and the children all went on a recent vacation together, and the women were seen acting like they were best friends and even sneaking away to have drinks together.

“Lindsey is really good for Tiger. She’s strong, opinionated, and keeps him in line,” the source added. “Elin found that they are very similar and have a lot in common. They laugh and talk like they have been girlfriends forever.”

Tiger and Elin officially divorced in 2010, after he revealed that he had cheated on her with more than a dozen women. However, it wasn’t until 2013 that he and Lindsay went public with their relationship.

Lindsay explained to David Letterman, at the time, that their similarities drew them together. “We’re athletes, so I guess we have something in common there. We met at his charity event in Vegas, Tiger Jam, and, yeah, we were friends for a long time,” she told Letterman in November 2013. “I don’t know…we just kind of relate really well to one another.”

  • Elin Nordegren And Lindsey Vonn Getting Chummy

After the messy and very public divorce between golf superstar Tiger Woods and former model Elin Nordegren, no one would have guessed that it was possible for his ex-wife to be friends with his current flame.

This unlikely scenario is probably making life easier for Woods, whose career suffered significantly following his split with Nordegren. An insider told celebrity news magazine Us Weekly that Nordegren actually adores Vonn and the two women talk all the time. The source added that Nordegren is drawn to the fact that Vonn is a “strong woman.”

The whole family – Woods, Vonn, Nordegren, and the children recently vacationed together, with the 29-year-old Olympic skier and the 34-year-old Swedish mother of two occasionally bonding with each other over drinks, while Woods was left to look after his six-year-old daughter Sam and five-year-old son Charlie.

Nordegren discovered that both her and Vonn had a lot of similarities and common ground. The insider said that they talk and laugh “like they have been girlfriends forever.”

However, E! News pointed out that the two ladies have not been seen together in public. Since the paparazzi hardly misses a celebrity spotting – especially a controversial one – there has been some skepticism about the alleged closeness of Nordegren and Vonn.

While it may be considered absurd for Woods’ former wife to get close to any of the women he was – and is – involved with, Vonn spends a significant amount of time with Nordegren’s children, thus a reason for the two women to build a relationship.

Vonn and Woods met in 2012 at the pro-golfer’s World Challenge Charity golf tournament, and officially became a couple in March 2013. Vonn’s divorce from fellow skier Thomas Vonn was finalized in January 2013, although the couple had been separated since late 2011.

Meanwhile, Nordegren has been linked to coal billionaire Chris Cline, who was a neighbor of Nordegren and Woods when they were still together.

  • Elin Nordegren Is Reportedly Getting Serious With New Boyfriend

Elin Nordegren may be forever famous as the ex-wife of Tiger Woods with emphasis on the “ex” after she split up with the pro-golfer following revelations that he was cheating on her with several other women. While she may never be able to escape that part of her life, the former model is definitely looking to put it all behind her with her current relationship.

The NY Post is reporting that sources close to Nordegren are saying that she is getting serious with billionaire coal magnate Chris Cline. The owner of Foresight Reserves, LP, a company that owns more than three billion tons of coal reserves across Illinois and Northern Appalachia, has been dating Nordegren for a little over a year now. It’s not said how they met, but the two live next to each other in North Palm Beach.

While living next to each other isn’t exactly a sign of wanting to take things to the next step, visiting the family is. Cline has reportedly already traveled to Sweden to meet Nordegren’s family. The two are also said to have great chemistry as both want to focus on philanthropy going forward. Not to mention, the two would probably want a full family to raise Nordegren’s two children and Cline’s four.

Nordegren’s relationship with Cline isn’t the only way she’s putting her past behind her. It was revealed earlier today that Nordegren is actually great friends with Tiger Woods’ current girlfriend Lindsey Vonn. Previously, Nordegren was said to have hated Vonn, but the two apparently hit it off upon meeting each other.

As her relationship with Cline becomes more serious, Nordegren will probably start to pull even further away from the limelight. After all, both her and Cline want to remain out of the public eye and just enjoy the company of each other on Cline’s yacht – Mine Games. If anything, she definitely snagged a man with a good naming sense.

  • Elin Nordegren And Lindsey Vonn Are Bonding

Elin Nordegren may have had a very difficult public divorce in 2010 from golf star Tiger Woods, but that doesn’t mean she’s shying away from the new woman in Tiger’s life.

The stunning Swedish model has reportedly become close with Olympic skiier Lindsey Vonn after initially wanting to meet her for practical reasons: because Vonn would be around the children she shares with Woods.

“After meeting her, she found she actually liked her,” a source said recently. “You’d think it would be weird, but Elin loves Lindsey and they talk all the time. Elin likes that Lindsey is a strong woman.”

Nordegren and Woods split after it was revealed that he had been unfaithful with several different women, but that hasn’t deterred Vonn. The couple announced that they were an item early last year and have been inseparable ever since, with Vonn saying that Woods has helped her immensely as she goes through rehab for a knee injury that kept her out of the Sochi Olympics.

“He’s helped me stay patient through rehab,” she said in a recent interview. “Golf is all about patience. One tournament is four days long, 18 holes a day. He helped me take it one day at a time. I’d say, ‘Why can’t I do this? I want to.’ And he’d say, ‘You’ll get your chance. It will come.’ We’re good for each other. I don’t know what he’s learned from me, to be honest. But we push each other and help each other when we’re down.”

The news of these ladies starting up a friendship is all the more surprising because of rumors that made the rounds on the web last year; according to several “sources”, Nordegren “hated” Vonn when it was first announced that she was dating Woods.

  • Tiger Woods To Miss Masters Due To Back Surgery

Tiger Woods will miss the annual Masters Tournament, one of professional golf’s four major championships, due to a back surgery for a pinched nerve. This will be the first time in two decades that the world’s number one player will miss the event.

The famed golfer had a microdiscectomy on Monday in Park City in Utah, and announced that he needed to have soft-tissue treatment and intensive rehabilitation. He is hoping to return to competition this summer.

However, it is unclear whether he will be well enough to join the US Open in June and the Open Championship in July. Stephania Bell, ESPN’s injury analyst, estimates that it will take 4 ½ months for Woods to recover.

Woods experienced back spasms last fall, and reappeared a month ago at the Honda Classic. He had to withdraw during the last round. The following week, the pain reappeared at the WGC-Cadillac Championship.

The pain resurfaced at his training for the Masters as well, and he decided to have the surgery.

The golfer expressed his disappointment over not being able to join the Masters. According to him, he may also have to miss other competitions to focus on rehabilitation and improving his health.

Woods has played the Masters since 1995. He won his first Masters in 1997, winning again in 2001, 2002, and 2005.

Masters chairman Billy Payne sent his best wishes to Woods, and is looking forward to the golfer’s healthy return.

The golfer remains hopeful for the future. He hopes to break the records of Sam Snead and Jack Nicklaus, who Woods admires. He needs to win four more majors to break Nicklaus’s record of 18 major titles.

Dr. Robert Watkins, who has treated athletes with spinal conditions, released a study that revealed that 90 percent of athletes were able to return to playing their sport.

  • Tiger Woods Still Plagued By Bad Back

Tiger Woods Still Plagued By Bad Back

Tiger Woods has faced numerous challenges on the green before, but nothing of this (painful) scale. At the WGC-Cadillac Championship in Doral, Florida, all it took was one swing at the sixth hole in the last round before Woods’ back injury acted up—again.

It wasn’t the first time Woods’ back injury gave him problems. He had to withdraw from the Honda Classic a week earlier. He was 13 holes into the final round when his back spasms flared up and he couldn’t continue.

At Doral, Woods stood with one foot outside of the hazard and the other in a fairway bunker and hit an 8-iron. That swing must have triggered and aggravated his back problem, because from there on, he grimaced and was clearly uncomfortable in his movements until the end of the round.

Woods’ pain was clear to see, as he often winced after drives and looked uneasy as he stood over putts. However, unlike his round at the Honda Classic, he did not consider withdrawing at all. “We’ve done all the protocols,” Woods said, referring to his back spasms, adding that “it’s just a matter of keeping everything aligned.”

He managed to finish 6-over-par 78, statistically his worst ever at Doral. It put him on a shared spot on 25th place. He wasn’t able to make a single birdie either, the eighth time in his entire PGA Tour career.

The day before, Woods did exceptionally well, enough to post a tournament-best 6-under 66. He felt sore after that round, but it was nothing compared to his condition on Sunday.  It’s tougher, Woods says, on certain days when his injury simply flares up.

For Woods, he just needs to keep things steady. He said he was happy that his back got better after the previous week. He is scheduled to go to Bay Hill in two weeks to defend his title in the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Before then, Woods said that it would be good to have a week off and “get some treatment.”

  • Patrick Reed Triumphs At WGC-Cadillac Championship In Doral

The reign of Tiger Woods as the youngest World Golf Championships tournament winner has finally come to an end, thanks to Patrick Reed. The 23-year old Texan native won by one shot over Jamie Donaldson and Bubba Watson.

Donning a red shirt and black pants, Reed also managed to make history on Sunday by scoring a 4-under-par 284, which tied 1985 winner Mark Mc Cumber’s score at the Doral-Eastern Tournament. The Doral course, which is otherwise known as the “Blue Monster”, is notoriously difficult to play on and only three players at the tournament were under par.

Reed was feeling confident as he took the lead at the first-round finish on Friday. He continued the good showing on Sunday’s championship, advanced his lead with two birdies, and played it safe off the final tee in an effort to ensure the win.

In an interview after his victory, Reed said that Tiger Woods was best player he saw as a child, and that he wore the same color combination – red and black. They both showed on Sunday wearing red shirts and black pants, although Reed outshone Woods when he increased his lead to four shots at one point in the game and made two bogeys later on to secure a 4 under. Bubba Watson finished at 3 under along with Donaldson, while Dustin Johnson and Richard Sterne ended in a tie for fourth place at even-par.

The Doral tournament was Reed’s first WGC event. In 2012, he was ranked 586th in the world golf rankings, but is now up to number 20. He is third in the FedEx Cup rankings and has a strong chance of making it to the U.S Ryder Cup team.

A confident Reed also said that he believes that he is “one of the hardest workers out there” and that his effort “definitely shows” in his game.

  • Tiger Woods, All Custom Focus Imports Partner For Motivational Bracelet

Tiger Woods announced Wednesday that he will be partnering with All Custom Focus Imports (ACF) in the upcoming months to create a new wristband with a motivational saying. A portion of the proceeds from sales of “The Tiger Woods Band” will go to benefit Woods’ foundation. The Tiger Woods Foundation partnered for the project to further their support for the golf star’s mission to help youth in Asia.

ACF President Raj Kumar made the official announcement on Wednesday, saying, “We are thrilled to begin our relationship with Tiger and his foundation. We plan to have the bands available beginning April 2014 to distributors and retailers. We expect band demand to increase throughout 2014 and 2015 when it will be available at thousands of locations in Asia.”

The bands will be red and black, sporting Woods’ own words of wisdom with the message “Live to Achieve Excellence.”

Woods also spoke about the partnership, saying, “My mom and pop taught me that anything is possible and to always strive for excellence,” Woods said. “I hope that by wearing these words each day, people will be reminded that each of us can help shape the lives of others as well as our own.”

The Tiger Woods Foundation is a major supporter of the Unlocking the Potential of Asian Youth initiative, which targets the youth in three countries of the Asia and Pacific, where one-half of the world’s youth reside. The initiative is based on providing support for people in these regions aged 14 to 20, through three main areas: life skills, education, and career preparation.

The first leg of the initiative took place from 2007 to 2011, with a successful outcome; Woods says that he hopes to further expand these efforts with his new bracelets, touching the lives of teens and young adults in an area that is close to his heart.

“I’m excited my foundation is expanding into Asia,” Woods says. “We’ve been very successful in the US, and my long-time goal has been to expand our work into Asia where my mom is from.”

Youth in Thailand, China, and South Korea have been provided with education and career skills training since it was established in 2007. Since its inception, the movement has successfully provided over 1,900 teens and youth in the three regions with education, life skills training, vocational training, entrepreneurship skills, and career prospects and support, according to the initiative’s website, iyfnet.org.

  • Lindsey Vonn Talks Depression and Tiger Woods

Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn usually finds herself speeding down various hills, often times at ridiculously high speeds, but since she’s suffered a recent knee injury it’s been an uphill battle for the 29-year old, both physically and emotionally.

As far as getting herself back to winning shape physically, Vonn has been undergoing the necessary amount rehab, and hopefully she’ll be ready for the 2018 winter games, but emotionally, she’s counted on her boyfriend Tiger Woods to assist her.

“He’s helped me stay patient through rehab,” she said in an interview with SELF magazine.

And Vonn says, she hasn’t been down as much this year, because of Woods and the medication she’s on. “I have sad days, but they’re rare and the lows aren’t as low,” she said. “[Recently] I’ve been the happiest I’ve ever been. A part of me is missing when I can’t ski, but I’ve learned there’s more to define me and make me happy, like stand-up paddling and jet skiing, things I’ve never done before.”

In addition, Vonn says she sometimes struggles with body image, especially when she has to go to a red carpet event or be in a room with a bunch of models and actors, but she much rather be the size and weight she is now, she says.

“It’s difficult to be at events with a room full of women who weigh half as much as you do,” admitted Vonn. “That’s always tough. I don’t envy them, though, because so many of them are skinny-fat. They have more cellulite than most people. I feel like I need to give them a cheeseburger. It’s sexy and beautiful to be strong.”

  • Rachel Uchitel Divorces Matt Hahn

Rachel Uchitel, known for being one of Tiger Woods’ many mistresses, is officially divorced from former Penn State football player Matt Hahn.

The two got married in October of 2011, in a Las Vegas wedding chapel, two years after her affair with Woods became a huge story. According to Daily Mail, the couple has been in several heated squabbles over the past few years, and on May 16, of 2013 Uchitel called 911 to help get Hahn out of the house.

Her lawyers, from the lawfirm Aronson, Mayefsky & Sloan, said that the divorce was settled amicably and that Hahn withdrew his claim of being the victim of cruel and inhumane treatment.

“The judgement of the divorce came through Monday Jan. 13,” said the lawyers in a statement. “Rachel Uchitel and Matt Hahn are pleased to announce the amicable settlement of their divorce proceedings. Mr Han withdrew his claims against Ms. Uchitel and they will be divorced based on the irretrievable breakdown of their marriage. The parties look forward to raising a happy and healthy daughter in the spirit of mutual respect.”

Currently, Hahn works in fiance, while Uchitel has made a living as a club VIP host in New York and Las Vegas. She now works as a private investigator on the West Coast. She’s also made a TV appearance on the show “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew.”

During the September 11 attacks, Uchitel became one of the many faces that symbolized a grieving nation when she was captured in a photo looking for her fiance, James Andrew O’Grady. Tragically, he was killed inside of the World Trade Center.

After her fiance’s passing, Uchitel said she had to do more than just move-on after grieving, she had to reinvent herself. “I went through hell. I fell to pieces,” she said. “When the one-year anniversary of 9/11 happened most of his friends had moved on. People we knew had married and were starting families. I felt robbed. I had to leave New York and move on with my life for my own sanity. I had to reinvent myself.”

  • Lindsey Vonn Will Miss Sochi Olympics Due To Knee Injury

US skier Lindsey Vonn will not take part in this year’s Winter Olympic Games to be held in Sochi due to a right knee injury.

The 29-year-old skiing sensation from Vail, Colorado made the announcement on Tuesday. According to her spokesman Lewis Kay, Vonn is expected to have knee surgery shortly and therefore will not make the games.

Via Facebook, Vonn told her fans that she is devastated to miss out on the Winter Olympics. “The reality has sunk in that my knee is just too unstable to compete at this level,” she wrote.

In the last Winter Olympics, Vancouver 2010, Vonn won two medals (gold and bronze). She also boasts four World Cup ski championships, making her the most famous name in the Alpine skiing. If  Vonn was able to compete this time she would likely be the center of  U.S media attention during the Winter Games.

Vonn’s knee troubles started last February when she tore two ligaments in her right knee during the World Championships. She was out of commission for 10 months before the injury was re-aggravated after she tore a ligaments in a training crash last November. Adding to her woes, Vonn sprained her MLC during a race in France in December, barely a month after returning to competition.

“I did everything I possibly could to somehow get strong enough to overcome having no ACL,” Vonn wrote on her Facebook wall.

In spite of the setback, Vonn is refusing to be discouraged. She said she has now set her sights on the World Championship to be held in February in her hometown of Vail. Vonn also thinks that her absence from the team is an extra opportunity for one of her teammates to step up and “go for a gold” medal.

America is now left with Mikaela Shiffrin, who is the defending World Champion in Slalom and Julia Mancuso, who holds three Olympic medals.

  • Michael Jordan and Yvette Prieto Expecting Baby

Michael Jordan and Yvette Prieto honeymooned in Greece just seven months ago, and now the two are expecting their first baby together. The couple wed in Palm Beach, Florida on April 27th in front of 300 friends and family members. Famous names like Robin Thicke, Spike Lee, Tiger Woods, Usher and Patrick Ewing graced the exclusive guest list.

Since the honeymoon ended, Jordan–who is 50, and Prieto, who is 34–have very clearly been getting down to business. A rep for Michael Jordan confirmed the pregnancy to Us Weekly.

It certainly didn’t take long for Twitter fans to start spreading the exciting news. Of course it sort of runs the gamut between genuine congratulations and a bit of sarcasm–but they’re spreading it just the same.

Michael Jordan has three children from his marriage to Juanita Venoy, which ended in 2006. They were married for 17 years and have two sons–Jeffrey Michael, 24, and Marcus James, 22, as well as a daughter, Jasmine, who is 19.

How do you suppose it will be for Michael Jordan to once again embrace parenthood at the age of 50–and more than 19 years after his most recent child was born? A lot has changed in 19 years–including the dad himself.

Congrats to Both Michael and wife Yvette Prieto on the their impending blessed event. Do you predict a 2014 line of Michael Jordan baby wear to hit stores in the very near future?

  • Lindsey Vonn Injured: Possible Setback For Sochi Olympics

The reigning Olympic champion Lindsey Vonn got injured Tuesday in a training run in Copper Mountain, Colorado ahead of her anticipated return to racing in the World Cup competition next week in Beaver Creek, Colo. Vonn was just recovering from a major right knee surgery. Vonn was however, not admitted to the hospital. Instead, her injury is being evaluated by her doctor, Bill Sterett.

“We have no reason to believe it’s anything significant right now,” read a statement from U.S. Ski Team spokesman Tom Kelly to the Associated Press. It is not clear whether her right knee was injured or not. She had torn her ligaments in the knee and fractured her tibia in a sickening crash in a high speed accident which occurred on Feb. 5. “We expect to have clarity on the situation in the next 24 hours,” Lewis Kay, a spokesman for Vonn, said.

Vonn had actually felt that her knee was months ahead of the schedule and in recent weeks she repeatedly said that her right knee was fully recovered.  She thought about expediting her comeback to the season opening Giant Slalom in Soelden, Austria last month but she changed her mind. Opting instead to continue preparing. She had already indicated that the Sochi Olympics this coming February are her priority.

It is unlikely that Vonn will have adequate time to prepare for the Sochi Olympics in 79 days following the setback. She had said before the season that her main focus was on the Olympics. “If I start off slow, it’s fine I just want to make sure that by the time I get to Sochi that I’m 100% in those events.” Vonn felt that she would have less pressure at the Sochi Olympics since she already has a gold medal. . “My childhood dream was to win the Olympics, and I’ve done that. Everything else is icing on the cake,” she said. “I feel like the pressure is off,”

  • Brandel Chamblee Apologizes for Calling Tiger Woods a Cheater

Don’t insinuate that Tiger Woods is a cheater, because that just might land you with a lawsuit threat. After Golf Channel analyst Brandel Chamblee questioned Woods’ ethics in an October 15 column, he found himself the recipient of a lot of backlash, including hearing from Tiger Woods’ attorney.

In the column that sparked the controversy, Chamblee graded several pro golfers and awarded Tiger Woods with an “F.” Chamblee gave Woods this grade because he believes Woods has cheated on the golf course. Check out Chamblee’s comments on Woods below:

Tiger Woods: When I was in the fourth grade, I cheated on a math test and when I got the paper back it had “100” written at the top and just below the grade, was this quote, “Oh, what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive!” It was an oft-quoted line from the epic poem “Marmion” by Sir Walter Scott, and my teacher’s message was clear. Written once more beneath that quote was my grade of “100”, but this time with a line drawn through it and beneath that an F. I never did ask my teacher how she knew I cheated and I certainly didn’t protest the grade. I knew I had done the wrong thing and my teacher the right, but I never forgot the way I felt when I read that quote.

I remember when we only talked about Tiger’s golf. I miss those days. He won five times and contended in majors and won the Vardon Trophy and … how shall we say this … was a little cavalier with the rules.

    F

Mark Steinberg, Woods’ agent, was infuriated with Chamblee’s insinuation and said it is the worst thing he has ever seen in a statement to ESPN.

“There’s nothing you can call a golfer worse than a cheater,” Steinberg said. “This is the most deplorable thing I have seen. I’m not one for hyperbole, but this is absolutely disgusting. Calling him a cheater? I’ll be shocked, stunned if something is not done about this.” Steinberg also said he would “have to give some thought to legal action.”

Chamblee initially stood by his comments early on Tuesday and said they were called for. “I don’t feel I’m the one that needs to justify the ‘F.’ The BMW video does it for me,” Chamblee said. Check out the video Chamblee is referencing:

The golf analyst had a change of heart in just a matter of hours, though, and made a few apology posts to Tiger Woods via Twitter:

  • Lindsey Vonn Still Recovering, Won’t Be Racing On Saturday

Lindsey Vonn says she is still recovering from knee surgery and won’t be competing in Saturday’s Olympic ski season opener in Austria, but will instead use an extra month to train and make sure her leg is strong enough to compete in her home races at the end of November in Beaver Creek, Colorado.

“While I physically feel great, I have decided to not race this weekend and instead will focus on returning in Beaver Creek. I am confident the extra month of training will ultimately put me in the best position to have a successful season,” she said.

Vonn injured her knee in a horrific crash during a super-G race in Austria this past February and had to be airlifted off the mountain. In a blog post before the competition, she wrote that weather conditions were sketchy at best.

“I’ve been trying to be patient and stay calm, but it’s pretty tough with the way the weather has been,” she wrote. “It snowed a lot Sunday night, there was no training possible Monday on the race hill, then it rained most of Monday afternoon and evening.

Vonn has enjoyed a very successful career in skiing and is one of only two female skiers to win four overall World Cup championships. She was also the first American woman to win a gold medal in downhill skiing at the 2010 Winter Olympics. She and beau Tiger Woods have managed to keep their relationship relatively low-key in the media, but she has said that he’s helped her tremendously just because he understands the pressure she’s under.

“He understands pressure and he understands, obviously, competing at an extremely high level,” she said. “It’s difficult for me going into big events like the Olympics because there’s so much more pressure and media attention, and he gets that every single day. So it’s nice to be able to talk to him about it and we can relate to each other’s lives so well. So I think that’s one of the reasons why we work.”

  • Lindsey Vonn Says Tiger Woods Helps Her Deal with Pressure

On Saturday, World Cup skier Lindsey Vonn took a break from cheering on her famous boyfriend at the President’s Cup in Dublin, Ohio to meet fans at Mt. Brighton in Michigan.

With multiple impressive wins under her belt, Vonn is considered one of the most successful ski racers in American history. She is one of only two female skiers to win four overall World Cup championships. Her gold medal win in downhill skiing at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver was the first ever for an American woman.

When she’s not competing, Vonn spends her time training at the gym and making public appearances such as the one she made on Saturday at Mt. Brighton. Before appearing at the public event, Vonn met privately with 50 youth ski racers from Mt. Brighton’s Team XLR8.

As often happens at such public appearances, the subject of professional golfer Tiger Woods came up. In March, Woods announced on Facebook that he and Vonn were dating. Vonn seemed more than willing to talk about her relationship with Woods:

“He understands pressure and he understands, obviously, competing at an extremely high level,” she said. “It’s difficult for me going into big events like the Olympics because there’s so much more pressure and media attention, and he gets that every single day. So it’s nice to be able to talk to him about it and we can relate to each other’s lives so well. So I think that’s one of the reasons why we work.”

Vonn is a representative for Vail Resorts, which recently purchased and is renovating Mt. Brighton. She also has endorsement deals with Under Armour, Head, Oakley and Red Bull.

Earlier this week, Vonn made headlines when she pulled a prank on Woods at the President’s Cup.

  • Lindsey Vonn Risks Tiger’s Temper for Prank

Millions of golf lovers watched the President’s Cup this week in Dublin, Ohio, hoping to catch a glimpse of their favorite players. What they got in addition to that was a surprise.

Lindsey Vonn, olympic athlete and girlfriend (with questionable standards) of 7 months to Tiger Woods, got the chance to hold “Sammy” the adorable and squirming squirrel that was serving as good luck charm to David Love III. Love started feeding the squirrel treats out of his pocket earlier that day.

The 28-year-old olympic skier then placed the squirrel on Tiger’s back when he wasn’t looking. “Don’t turn around, don’t turn around.”, a voice on the video warns him. Lindsey, however, broke into a huge a grin as the animal crawled up her boyfriend’s neck.

Millions of views waited with baited breath for the reaction. Would he slip into trademark Tiger rage or keep his cool in order to spare his still-shiny, new relationship with the blonde beauty?

The 37-year-old golf pro initially looked a little perturbed. He grabbed her hand and brushed the squirrel away. Luckily for her, and for him, he caught himself and was a good sport for the prank.

For good measure, they were later snapped sitting in her golf cart smiling and laughing with “Sammy” perched on the golfer’s shoulders. So, whatever happened to the now-famous woodland critter turned golf fan?

“Sammy” will live out the rest of his cute life comfortably at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. He will be taken and placed there sometime this weekend. I’m sure the squirrel life will be pretty sweet for such a sweet critter.
