  • Olivia Munn, Beau Aaron Rodgers Gear Up — Literally — For ‘Star Wars’

The force is apparently with Olivia Munn and her beau, Green Bay Paker’s quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

With less than a week before the much-anticipated Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters, the 35-year-old Newroom actress and Rodgers, 32, teamed up for a shot donning Star Wars attire, looking very otherworldly.

Olivia posted the pic to Instagram Friday showing the twosome facing off in Star Wars gear and asking followers who wore it best.

“Who’s the bigger #StarWars fan…The one who bought this awesome shirt at @oldnavy or the one who already owned his own Obi-Wan Kenobi robe?” she captions the photo of herself in a festive T-shirt with Aaron donning a Jedi costume.

This little stellar showdown isn’t the first time the two have shown their love of pop culture.
According to Access Hollywood, Olivia showed off her sword fighting skills that she learned while preparing for her role in X-Men in a memorable social media clip she posted in June.

    Learned some new tricks…

Looks like Olivia could wield a light saber effectively.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters on Dec. 17.

So which one really did wear it best and should be dubbed the biggest Star Wars fan? Olivia Munn or Aaron Rodgers?

  • Olivia Munn Outshines Boyfriend Aaron Rodgers With Sword Fighting Skills

Olivia Munn has a new skill, and it’s one in which she seriously outshines her boyfriend. Now bear in mind that her boyfriend is Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, and this is a physical skill.

Yes, Olivia Munn had to learn sword fighting for her action-packed roll in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse–due out in 2016. And she’s better at it than Aaron Rodgers.

A couple of days ago Olivia Munn posted a short video clip on Instagram, highlighting some of those sword fighting skills. And her opponent in the clip is none other than Aaron Rodgers.

“Learned some new tricks,” the Newsroom actress captioned her post.

A video posted by Olivia Munn (@oliviamunn) on

What do you think of Aaron Rodgers’s photo-bombing skills? They’re actually better than his sword fighting skills–by far.

Olivia Munn and Aaron Rodgers began dating back in 2014, and things appear to be going very smoothly for the couple.

This past January she dished to Conan O’Brien about the first time she met the handsome NFL star.

“When I met him, I said, ‘So, what do you do?’ And he’s like, ‘Oh, I play football,’” Munn told the late night host. “I go, ‘Cool, what college?’ He’s like, ‘Oh no, I play professionally.’ I go, ‘Cool, what position?’ He’s like, ‘Quarterback.’ That was kinda it, not knowing that he’s like, you know, Super Bowl MVP, or any of those things,… All I saw was that he was really attractive. I didn’t really care what he did.”

Since then, Olivia Munn and Aaron Rodgers have been inseparable. Fortunately she doesn’t hold his sword fighting skills–or lack thereof–against him.

Aaron Rodgers seems quite smitten with Olivia Munn, too.

“I’m real happy in my relationship,” he said in a recent interview. “I understand what comes with it…The last couple years, I’ve learned a lot about perspective and what’s important.”

Do you think Olivia Munn and Aaron Rodgers are in this for the long haul? Might she impress upon him the need for improving his sword fighting skills or simply accept that she’s far better at it than he is?

  • Alison Pill of ‘The Newsroom’ Marries ‘The Bates Motel’s’ Joshua Leonard

Alison Pill of HBO’s The Newsroom tied the knot with Joshua Leonard of The Bates Motel on Sunday, just four months after they became engaged. The couple wed in Los Angeles in front of family members and friends.

On Saturday, a group of women joined with Alison Pill in a big celebration at her bachelorette party.

Joshua Leonard started out sharing the wedding adventure, by posting an Instagram photo a few days ago of Alison Pill sitting on a bench in city hall, as they prepared to get their marriage license at the Beverly Hills Courthouse.

“Getting a marriage license w/ @msalisonpill,” he captioned the shot.

Alison Pill shared a photo from her bachelorette party.

“My most bestest folks. #bachelorette,” she captioned it.

And then there was the very best shot of all–the one of Alison Pill and Joshua Leonard following their nuptials.

“We’re married!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! #pillnard,” she captioned the photo that showed her wearing a throwback-styled yellow dress.

Joshua Leonard shared a couple of pictures of his beautiful bride after they both said, “I do.”

This one shows Alison Pill eating what one can only presume was wedding cake, although he calls it toast in his caption.

“We got married, she ate toast. @msalisonpill,” he captioned the photo.

Leonard also shared a photo of his first dance after marrying Alison Pill.

“Hands down best day of my life. First dance as husband and wife. Photo by @itsdavidelliot,” he captioned it.

In addition to The Newsroom, Alison Pill has starred in a variety of productions including Milk and Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen. Joshua Leonard is known for his performances in many films, including The Blair Witch Project, Men of Honor, and If I Stay.

Congratulations to Joshua Leonard and Alison Pill on their marriage. May they enjoy many happy years together.

  • Olivia Munn: Sexy, Sheer on ‘Mortdecai’ Red Carpet

Olivia Munn went for a sexy and sheer look as she strolled the red carpet at the Mortdecai premiere in Hollywood on Wednesday. The Newsroom star stunned in a Ralph Rucci black gown that boasted a strategic, semi-sheer bodice that left little to the imagination.

Needing little to accent her sizzling ensemble, Olivia Munn wore minimal makeup, but went all out with her hair.

“Olivia is wearing a gorgeous dress that is very sexy, with a body-hugging silhouette,” stylist Christian Marc told Us Weekly at the event. To complement the design of her dress, he decided on a “glamorous, mid-70s style—very high fashion.”

Olivia Munn’s boyfriend Aaron Rodgers is a lucky man. Munn dished about their relationship with E! News following her red carpet appearance at the Mortdecai premiere.

It’s going really great,” she said. “I’m very happy. He’s the best.”

Aaron Rodgers, of course, is the Green Bay Packers’ star quarterback. The two have been dating since May.

“I’m just so proud of him and his team, and what I was able to see this season was unbelievable,” Munn gushed. “I’ve never seen anything like that. The things that he’s gone through this season and what he’s overcome and what he does, it’s really unbelievable.”

Aaron Rodgers is no doubt very proud of Olivia Munn as well–from the way she dazzled the crowd on the red carpet on Wednesday to her growing success in both the TV and the film world.

In a funny note, however, Olivia Munn has admitted that when she and Aaron Rodgers first met, she had no idea who the football hunk was.

  • Olivia Munn Reveals How Often She Has Sex

Olivia Munn recently sat down with Andy Cohen to dish on several topics, and she didn’t shy away from questions about her sex life like some celebs do.

The Newsroom actress, who is dating football star Aaron Rodgers, said she tries to have sex as often as possible, but there is one night in particular it just doesn’t happen.

“Not on game day. There’s not a rule, but it just doesn’t happen because there are other things to focus on,” she said. “I try to have sex as much as I can.”

Packers fans are thanking Munn on social media for being Rodgers’ “good luck charm”, but she did say sometimes the couple will get romantic after a game, depending on how late it is.

Munn made headlines earlier this week when she sat down for a talk with David Letterman and had trouble maneuvering around the high slit in her skirt. The actress posted shots of her outfit on Instagram and gave shoutouts to her stylists, but later acknowledged on Twitter that she won’t be wearing the skirt again.

  • Olivia Munn Defends Aaron Sorkin

First, Aaron Sorkin went public defending the penultimate episode Oh Shenandoah of The Newsroom that aired on December 7th. Now actress Olivia Munn, who plays Sloan Sabbith on the HBO drama, is also defending the controversial episode that features a storyline containing college campus rape.

Munn went on EW Morning Live today to discuss the negative reactions that have been swirling around Sunday’s show. In the episode, ACN producer Don Keefer visits a Princeton University student, who was allegedly raped at a party, in an attempt to convince her not appear on his newscast. During their conversation, Keefer also points out all the potentially negative effects that come with the website that she created that allows other victims of rape to post their stories with anonymity.

After the episode aired, Alena Smith a writer for the show, went public via Twitter with her issues concerning the episode’s content. Smith also tweeted that she was thrown out of the writer’s room for sharing her opinion on the matter.

Sorkin conveyed his disappointment with Smith’s tweet in a statement:

So I was surprised to be told this morning that Alena had tweeted out her unhappiness with the story. But I was even more surprised that she had so casually violated the most important rule of working in a writers room which is confidentiality. It was a room in which people felt safe enough to discuss private and intimate details of their lives in the hope of bringing dimension to stories that were being pitched. That’s what happens in writers rooms and while ours was the first one Alena ever worked in, the importance of privacy was made clear to everyone on our first day of work and was reinforced constantly. I’m saddened that she’s broken that trust.

Munn agrees with Sorkin regarding Smith. “It should have been more poignant and more interesting, and not about her,” Munn said.

The actress also defended Sorkin’s decision on how to write about such a hotly debated topic. “The reality is that Sorkin writes things so that they can be talked about, and so we show both sides of it,” she said. “I think it was important to show what it’s like for women to be a rape victim, want to speak out, and then have somebody come in and say, ‘Hey don’t do that. That’s going to be bad for you.’”

The Newsroom will air its series finale next Sunday, December 14 after three seasons on HBO.

  • Jeff Daniels Switches Gears Fast from Newsroom to Dumber

Jeff Daniels was Harry Dunne opposite Jim Carrey’s Lloyd Christmas long before he was a brilliant anchor on Aaron Sorkin’s The Newsroom. Maybe some people thought that it showed progression in Daniels’ career that he was now doing something “respectable.”

But now The Newsroom is ending. And Harry Dunne is back in Dumb and Dumber To.

    Is this backsliding for Daniels?

“It’s a thrill to me and a career highlight and perhaps unprecedented to have The Newsroom air its first episode on Sunday night and then Dumb and Dumber To open domestically on Friday,” Daniels told Esquire. “I couldn’t be happier with that. I’ve always wanted to show range.”

Daniels appreciates the time he has had working with Sorkin and learning more about what news networks do behind the scenes.

“I have a much better understanding of what they’re doing, Daniels says. “The big thing for me that I came away with was the struggle that they have. In particular, when news is breaking… I look at them as really great columnists. On whatever side of the aisle they’re coming from.”

Daniels is amazed at what these 24-hour news cycle folks have to do. He said sometimes it’s like they know, “We have three facts, we don’t know anything more, and we have to keep talking for four hours.”

But he also knows that some of them do not see it as their job to calm and reassure the public in times of crisis.

“I don’t know about keeping the calm, he said. “Because fear sells. If there’s breaking news you want to keep everybody glued. And that’s part of the struggle. Whether or not there are people in these guys’ ears saying, ‘Keep the fear up,’ they know what keeps people glued. And it’s not ‘Everything’s okay.’”

But he also sees a place for Harry Dunne and Lloyd Christmas in a world where things can get really scary, really fast, and all unfold on the news before us in real time.

“I also think that maybe because there’s so much fear, because the world is so complex and dark and the economy isn’t great—though for some we’re being told it is—and Ferguson, Missouri, Ottawa, Ebola, ISIS, there are a lot of things to be scared of. Here’s a place you can go for 90 minutes to get away from that.”

  • Olivia Munn Says the Secret to Balancing Career and Love Is ‘Making Concessions’

Olivia Munn, 34, thinks she may have the secret to balancing career and love.

The Newsroom actress shared how she and her Green Bay Packers boyfriend Aaron Rodgers make their relationship work during a recent red-carpet interview with E! News.

“You just end up making those concessions,” Munn explained. “You make decisions because it can’t all be work and it can’t all be your personal life, especially when you’ve worked so hard to have a career.”

The Iron Man 2 actress conceded that it’s tricky business trying to arrange their hectic schedules and says some decisions have to be made to protect their relationship.

“There’s a lot of traveling, a lot of driving, and then you’re just really happy with the decisions that you make. And for me, it comes at a time in my life when I end up having to say no to some work because I gotta be somewhere else,” said Munn, who plays Sloan Sabbith on the political drama The Newsroom.

“It doesn’t make me sad or anything, because I want my life to be full and have all those experiences, so you kind of figure it out as you go.”

Munn likes to display the “special ring” that Rodgers offered her after six months of dating.

“This is a gift from my boyfriend, actually,” gushed Munn. “I wore this for a premiere, and he had heard me talking to my stylist about being obsessed with it. It is such a special ring, and then he surprised me.”

However, she makes it clear that it’s not “that kind of ring.”

“It’s not the special ring. I mean, it’s a very special ring, but it is not the special ring,” she said.

  • Olivia Munn: How She Makes Her Love Life Work

Olivia Munn and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers have been dating for months now. One would think that two celebrities with busy schedules would have a hard time making a relationship work, but that doesn’t seem to be the case for the couple. In an interview with E! News, the Newsroom actress talked about how she and Rodgers make the best out of their relationship.

“You make decisions because it can’t all be work and it can’t all be your personal life, especially when you’ve worked so hard to have a career,” Munn said during the interview. She added, “There’s a lot of traveling, a lot of driving, and then you’re just really happy with the decisions that you make. And for me, it comes at a time in my life when I end up having to say no to some work because I gotta be somewhere else.”

    — UPI.com (@UPI) November 6, 2014

Just recently, Rodgers gave Munn an expensive ring just after six months of dating. News began circulating that this might be an engagement ring, but the actress dismissed the rumors. “This is a gift from my boyfriend, actually,” explained the TV star. “I wore this for a premiere, and he had heard me talking to my stylist about being obsessed with it. It is such a special ring, and then he surprised me.”

“It’s not that kind of ring, by the way. It’s not the special ring. I mean, it’s a very special ring, but it is not THE special ring,” Munn said.

Munn and Rodgers were rumored to be dating back in May, but they only confirmed their relationship last June. Munn is known for her stint co-host of Attack of The Show and for her roles in films like Magic Mike and I Don’t Know How She Does It. She currently plays Sloan Sabbith on the HBO show The Newsroom, which is now on its final season.

    Olivia Munn Offers Relationship Advice

Former G4 Network Attack of the Show! co-host Olivia Munn revealed to E! News how she makes her relationship with Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers work, during the final season premiere event of her hit HBO show The Newsroom.

While discussing the difficulties that arise while juggling busy schedules against a budding dalliance at a red carpet event held at the Directors Guild of America Theater, Munn commented, “You just end up making those concessions.” The Iron Man 2 actress added, “You make decisions because it can’t all be work and it can’t all be your personal life, especially when you’ve worked so hard to have a career.”

On the Golden Globe-nominated political drama The Newsroom, Munn plays Sloan Sabbith, a socially inept double PhD economist.

Here is a clip of Munn making nerds look good, on the Aaron Sorkin-helmed series:

Regarding her and Rodgers’ hectic schedules, Munn remarked, “There’s a lot of traveling, a lot of driving, and then you’re just really happy with the decisions that you make. And for me, it comes at a time in my life when I end up having to say no to some work because I gotta be somewhere else.”

“It doesn’t make me sad or anything, because I want my life to be full and have all those experiences, so you kind of figure it out as you go,” the actress added.

At the Tuesday event, Munn wore a “special ring” that Rodgers had given her after six months of dating. The actress commented, “This is a gift from my boyfriend, actually. I wore this for a premiere, and he had heard me talking to my stylist about being obsessed with it. It is such a special ring, and then he surprised me.”

“It’s not that kind of ring, by the way. It’s not the special ring. I mean, it’s a very special ring, but it is not the special ring,” she said.

  • Olivia Munn: Not So Bad After All

Olivia Munn: Not So Bad After All

Just in case you were wondering, Olivia Munn is not a pill on-set, despite the rumors.

The Magic Mike actress has scoffed at the recent whispers stating that she has a “know-it-all attitude” and is “overstepping” her boundaries on her most recent gig, The Newsroom. And so has its creator Aaron Sorkin.

“The story bears no resemblance to reality,” stated Sorkin in a report. “Olivia is a perfect cast member who is loved and respected by the entire cast, by the crew and the producers, by HBO, and especially by me.”

This is a far cry from what the scathing report stated, including that Munn was acting more like Sorkin’s co-writer instead of an actress, and was even causing waves with the show’s star, Jeff Daniels.

“Olivia and Aaron’s relationship soured so completely during season two of  The Newsroom that it created a poisonous atmosphere on the set,” said the source.

Like most celebs, Munn took to Twitter to defend herself:

Some are wondering if this recent gossip is just a ploy to create a buzz for the upcoming season three of the show. As you may recall, it ended quite a while ago, and perhaps this is a way to get people thinking of the show again. Featuring some seriously zany story lines, such as a doll coming to life, an elderly witch, and an orangutan nurse, such a twist wouldn’t be that unheard of.

Munn has been on the show since 2012, and plays Sloan Sabbith, a socially awkward senior financial reporter for News Night.

  • HBO Dangles Another Carrot, Streams “The Newsroom” Pilot For Free

HBO Dangles Another Carrot, Streams “The Newsroom” Pilot For Free

Much to the delight of everyone still reeling from the loss of Game of Thrones, Mad Men, and (to a lesser extent, I guess) The Killing for the season, HBO debuted a brand new drama centered around the innerworkings of a cable new program aptly titled The Newsroom.

Apart from a cast containing the likes of Jeff Daniels, Emily Mortimer, and a hilariously lubricated Sam Waterston, one of the big draws of the show is that it’s from the mind of Aaron Sorkin. Sorkin, of course, it known for the much-loved political drama The West Wing, as well as recent films The Social Network and Moneyball. You can also catch his unmistakable screenwriting flourishes in the upcoming Steve Jobs biopic.

If you don’t have HBO and fear the world of torrenting, you’re in luck. HBO has put the entire first episode of The Newsroom online for free.

This isn’t the first time HBO has put a series opener online, most recently having done so with the Julia Louis-Dreyfus vehicle Veep. But it’s always just been the first episode – just a little taste to get you hooked.

Of course, HBO’s goal is to promote new subscriptions by displaying their quality content for the masses. It’s a good strategy – a way to say, “look at the great show that’s just starting – you can get in at the ground floor.” Also, signing up for HBO gives you access to all of their programming on HBO Go…

…but only if you are signed up with a cable provider that gives access.

There’s been an online movement exerting pressure on HBO to offer a standalone streaming service like HBO Go – but one separate from cable ties. That effort recently culminated in a Twitter campaign called “Take My Money, HBO” that saw thousands take to the site to tell HBO just how much they would pay for such a service (around 12 bucks a month, on average).

HBO responded, basically saying that it’s not in their best interests to offer such a service (for now).

For those who will never fork over the cash for cable + HBO, think of this offering as an easy way to watch the first episode in the new series. For people with HBO, maybe your DVR screwed up. If so, HBO’s here for the save:

You can also check it out on YouTube or grab it free on iTunes.

  • Aaron Sorkin Isn’t Too Smart (Or So He Says)

Aaron Sorkin Isn’t Too Smart (Or So He Says)

Aaron Sorkin is well known for writing thinking-man’s scripts, complete with wit and sarcasm but with underlying themes that mean you have to pay attention to what’s going on. His dialogue is punchy and fast, often timed so that the viewer barely has a moment to register what they’ve just heard before moving on to the response. Take the opening scenes in “The Social Network”, for instance; the back-and-forth between Jesse Eisenberg and Rooney Mara at the campus pub left many viewers scrambling to keep up, yet when it was over one couldn’t help but feel like they had just witnessed a very intelligent dialogue that set the tone for the entire movie. Sorkin is good at that; he gets in your head.

But while some are intimidated by his writing, Sorkin says there’s no reason to be. He reckons he’s no smarter than the average guy and wants everyone to give his work a chance.

“I’m 100 percent incapable of writing something that is too smart for anybody,” Sorkin said. “All of my teachers in high school can back me up on that.”

His latest project, “The Newsroom”, may seem a little daunting to some, but he insists it’s nothing to be scared of. The show premiered last night on HBO and is garnering comparisons to another little show he penned, “The West Wing”. With Jeff Daniels at the helm, portraying troubled anchorman Will McAvoy, Sorkin is sure the show will speak to a large audience.

“I wanted Jeff to play the part and I can’t imagine anyone else playing it,” Sorkin said. “We did a screening this past Monday night in New York for a theater full of news people and the actual anchors told Jeff that he could get in the chair on Monday. That he’s ready.”
