  • Emily Blunt Claims She Misses Her ‘Doughy Guy’ Now That Hubby John Krasinski is Ripped

Emily Blunt apparently wishes for the chubbier, less in shape version of husband John Krasinski now that he is a ripped hunk of a man.

Krasinski, 36, became ripped like steel after undergoing a complete body transformation for his role in the upcoming movie 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi and his wife is missing the less improved version of her husband.

According to People magazine, the The Office alum lost 21 percent of his total body fat over the course of four months in preparation for the role.

To get in great shape, Krasinski worked out twice a day for nearly four months and said it was tough.

“It’s real work, too. I thought it would be like, ‘Yeah, let’s eat a couple Power Bars and do push-ups.’ And he was like, ‘No. It’s going to be a living hell for six to eight weeks,’ ” he told Stephen Colbert during an appearance on The Late Show on Tuesday night.

Krasinski apparently made huge progress over the course of the four months of training.

“I couldn’t do one pull-up,” he said. “I was like, ‘How hard are these pull-ups, really?’”

Krasinski noted that Emily is none too thrilled with his new look.

“She hates it,” Krasinski joked. “She would way prefer to have doughy guy back.”

“Doughy is a strong word,” host Stephen Colbert said, trying to cajole the actor.

    “No, like sweet-face,” Krasinski added.

Krazinski’s transformation came to light after he appeared in the January/February issue of Men’s Health magazine, which garnered a lot of media attention.

“Did you always want this?” Colbert asked while holding a picture from the cover shoot.

“I looked like that in The Office,” Krasinski joked. “You just didn’t see it much.”

  • Liam Neeson Kills It in ‘Candy Crush: The Movie’

Liam Neeson has spent a lifetime crushing candy.

Neeson recently joined Stephen Colbert on The Late Show in the defining role of his career – as part of the new Candy Crush movie.

“I don’t know who you are. I don’t know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don’t have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my candies go now, that’ll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don’t, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.”

Ok, that’s not what this movie is about. Also, it doesn’t really exist. But I’d watch it, would you?

Could a real movie based on Candy Crush really happen? Well, Activision Blizzard just acquired King digital Entertainment, the makers of Candy Crush, for $5.9 billion.

Then, Activision announced the formation of Activision Blizzard Studios, which is set to make movies based on its many gaming properties … which now includes Candy Crush.

  • Sarah Silverman Accidentally Names Her Boyfriend’s Penis, Shares On ‘The Late Show’

Funnywoman Sarah Silverman appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Tuesday, and as expected, viewers were treated to a dose of her signature acerbic and bold brand of comedy.

Dressed like a sort of sexy librarian, Silverman and Colbert chatted about their shared love of jokes, among other things. She was then invited by Colbert to join him in reciting a few jokes that he found on what he claimed was one of his favorite sites, a Tumblr named “Bad Kids Jokes.”

They proceeded to read some very innocent, literal, and strangely ironic jokes that were actually written by young kids. One joke was set up with three guys on an airplane. “There were three guys on a plane. One bit into an apple, thought it was too sweet, and threw it out the window. The second guy bit into a rock,” Silverman read. Visibly confounded, she went on to comment that the joke was “terrible” and “not funny.”

Colbert recited a joke about a perpetually happy man named Wilson who stopped laughing one day because he turned into a ghost. Silverman showed more appreciation for this joke and even went as far as calling it “meta.”

The second part of the interview featured an anecdote shared by Silverman about accidentally naming her boyfriend’s genitalia. The boyfriend in question is actor Michael Sheen, who stars in the period drama TV series Masters of Sex. Silverman had tweeted a joke about naming Sheen’s penis “The Great Christine Baranski” without anticipating the repercussions – she says Us Weekly published a story claiming that it was Sheen who gave his own penis the off moniker.

Sarah Silverman recently opened up about her past struggles with depression and panic attacks in an essay she wrote for Glamour magazine. In her latest film, I Smile Back, she plays a bipolar, self-harming housewife named Laney Brooks.

  • Tim Cook Talks to Stephen Colbert About Coming Out

Tim Cook Talks to Stephen Colbert About Coming Out

Tim Cook is one of the country’s most-powerful – and most-visible – CEOs. And it’s that visibility that led him to come out publicly last October.

The Apple CEO opened up to Stephen Colbert about his decision, saying he “wanted to tell everyone [his] truth.”

Cook said he felt “a tremendous responsibility” to do it during an interview on The Late Show.

“It became so clear to me that kids were getting bullied in school, kids were getting basically discriminated against, kids were even being disclaimed by their own parents — and that I needed to do something … Where I valued my privacy significantly, I felt that I was valuing it too far above what I could do for other people. And so I wanted to tell everyone my truth.”

“Many people already knew, for many people it was no revelation. it’s like discovering something in your iPhone that it’s always done but you didn’t quite know it, right?” said Cook. “And so it wasn’t a revelation to a lot of people that I work with but it was maybe to the broader world.”

Cook revealed he is gay in an eloquent piece in Bloomberg last October. There, he called being gay ‘among the greatest gifts god has given him.”

“I don’t consider myself an activist, but I realize how much I’ve benefited from the sacrifice of others. So if hearing that the CEO of Apple is gay can help someone struggling to come to terms with who he or she is, or bring comfort to anyone who feels alone, or inspire people to insist on their equality, then it’s worth the trade-off with my own privacy,” he said.

  • Scarlett Johansson, Stephen Colbert Ponder Life’s ‘Big Questions’ on ‘The Late Show’

Scarlett Johansson and Stephen Colbert pondered some of life’s big questions during the late night host’s first week at the helm of The Late Show.

Since Scarlett Johansson was Colbert’s first female on his new show, he likely figured he’d save the big questions for her.

“I get the impression that you’re a deep person,” he told Johansson. “I like to give the impression that I’m a deep person. Can we get real for a minute?”

    “Let’s go deep,” she replied.

Thus began the introduction to Stephen Colbert’s new segment called “Big Questions with Even Bigger Stars.”

He and Scarlett Johansson laid on a blanket under fake stars, pondering life itself.

The two took turns asking each other some of life’s big questions.

“You think there’s a difference between living and being alive?”, “Would you rather have feet for hands or hands for feet?” and “What do you think Oprah’s doing right now?” were among the questions.

Scarlett Johansson was thrilled to be on The Late Show–so thrilled, in fact, she flew directly to New York from Paris, where she lives with husband Romain Dauriac and their daughter, one-year-old Rose Dorothy.

What kinds of “big questions” do you suppose Stephen Colbert might ask the next time he features “Big Questions with Even Bigger Stars” on The Late Show?

And can he possibly find anyone as enthralled as Scarlett Johansson to lay under fake stars and ponder said questions with him?

  • Stephen Colbert’s First Guests Include Elon Musk, Uber’s Travis Kalanick

Stephen Colbert’s First Guests Include Elon Musk, Uber’s Travis Kalanick

Stephen Colbert’s highly-anticipated debut in David Letterman’s old spot is fast approaching, and The Late Show has just revealed the guests Colbert will welcome in his first week.

The list includes Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, as well as Uber CEO Travis Kalanick.

That’s a lot of tech for a first week, and for a network late night program. Musk is pretty well known and always interesting, but Kalanick is probably not on many people’s radar. Uber is, of course, so it’ll be interesting to see what Colbert has up his sleeve in that regard.

The first week will only include four new episodes (Labor Day), and here’s the full lineup:

    September 8:
George Clooney, Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush
Musical performance: Jon Batiste and Stay Human

    September 9:
Scarlett Johansson, SpaceX and Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk
    Musical performance: Kendrick Lamar

    September 10:
    Uber CEO Travis Kalanick
    Musical performance: Toby Keith

    September 11:
    Amy Schumer, Stephen King
    Musical performance: Troubled Waters

Kalanick appears to be the only non-musical guest of the night. Musk has to share his time with ScarJo – a tough act to follow for sure.

  • Kelly Preston’s Son, Ben, Makes A Reluctant TV Debut

Kelly Preston and John Travolta paid a visit to David Letterman on The Late Show to say farewell to David and to promote Travolta’s new movie, The Forger.

While John Travolta was the main guest, his wife, Kelly Preston, waited backstage with their youngest son, Ben, who is four.

Kelly Preston’s presence wasn’t known until John Travolta began to tell a story about a visit to Toys “R” Us with Ben, during which Travolta was swarmed by autograph-seeking fans.

Travolta said he wasn’t sure Ben understood why the people were swarming him.

He said, “I said, ‘Why are all these people wanting my photograph?’ I didn’t know if he knew I was in films or not. He said, ‘Well, maybe they saw one of your movies!’”

He continued his story about his and Kelly Preston’s son, saying, “Then he said, ‘I wanna work with you. And so tonight, later, maybe, he could come on and say hi to you if it’s okay… If you allow him to.”

Of course, David Letterman was a great sport and said, “Bring him out now! Where’s the kid? Bring the kid out!”

“The kid” was found with mother Kelly Preston backstage as the cameras panned to where they were standing.

Ben appeared quite nervous as he clung to Kelly Preston and seemed to have no desire to let go of her.

Then, as soon as Kelly Preston put him down, Ben proceeded to run offstage.

    Happy 3rd birthday, Benjamin!

So cute. So much for a grand debut! Perhaps Ben won’t follow in John Travolta or Kelly Preston’s footsteps, after all!

Did you see Monday’s episode? What did you think of Ben’s TV debut?

Will you be tuning in to watch at least some of David Letterman’s final shows?

  • David Letterman: Jay Leno Invited to Appear on ‘Late Show’

David Letterman and Jay Leno have long been what many described as arch rivals. Now some media outlets are reporting that Letterman’s Late Show has extended an invitation to Jay Leno to appear as a guest.

Reuters is reporting that Jay Leno has in fact been invited to appear on The Late Show some time before David Letterman retires in May. The offer was extended some time late in 2014.

CBS is supposedly looking to capitalize on the hype surrounding Letterman’s upcoming retirement. If Jay Leno agrees to go on the show, it could definitely up the ratings. Leno retired from The Tonight Show last year–passing the torch to Jimmy Fallon. Fallon has thus far been very successful in his new late night spot.

Last week, Jay Leno was asked about whether or not he was actually invited to appear on David Letterman’s show while speaking at the National Association of Television Program Executives conference in Miami.

“I haven’t heard that,” he replied. “I’ll have to check into that.”

Shortly before his retirement, Jay Leno told TVInsider.com that he was open to visiting David Letterman on the Late Show.

“That could happen, why not,” he said. “It’s certainly a possibility. Some of my best moments were doing the show with Dave.”

Leno also added that even if he appeared on the Late Show, he didn’t expect much of anything to change between him and David Letterman.

“It’s the same. I don’t think it changes anything,” he said.

Check out Jay Leno and David Letterman on Dave’s show back in 1985.

TV history would definitely be made if Jay Leno were to appear as a guest on The Late Show. It will be interesting to see if this comes to fruition before David Letterman retires in the spring.

  • Stephen Colbert Says Goodbye With Song, Prepares to Take Over for David Letterman

Stephen Colbert bid the Colbert Report adieu in the days before Christmas, with his last show featuring a star studded sing along. The Comedy Central host will soon sit behind David Letterman’s desk on The Late Show, as he prepares to take over for the late night host some time in 2015.

“If this is your first time tuning in to ‘The Colbert Report,’ I have some terrible news,” Colbert announced during the show’s finale. “This in fact is your last time tuning in to ‘The Colbert Report.’ Until 10 years from now, when they reboot it directed by J.J. Abrams.”

“The truthiness is all those incredible things that people say I did — none of that was really me,” he added as he got ready to say goodbye. “You, the Nation, did all of that. I just got paid for it.”

As a thank you, Stephen Colbert staged an elaborate farewell scene that featured him killing off death, a.k.a. “Grimmy,” with a handgun and becoming “immortal,” promising fans that “We’ll Meet Again.”

He rounded up pretty much every celebrity he knows–from George Lucas to Sesame Street’s Big Bird–for a performance of “We’ll Meet Again,” just to prove his point.

Then, accompanied by Santa Claus, Abraham Lincoln, and Alex Trebek, Stephen Colbert signed off, saying, “We’ve finally come to the end of ‘The Colbert Report.’ Nine great years, 1,447 wonderful episodes–I’ve just got too many people to thank. So I’ll just thank Mavis Staples. Mavis, if you could just call everybody tomorrow, that would be great. OK, that’s the show. From eternity, I’m Stephen Colbert.”

Did you see Stephen Colbert retire from the Colbert Report? Are you looking forward to him taking the helm from David Letterman in 2015?

  • Emily Blunt Shows Off Post-Pregnancy Figure On “The Late Show”

Emily Blunt Shows Off Post-Pregnancy Figure On “The Late Show”

Emily Blunt became a mom back in February, but it seems the gorgeous actress has already gotten her pre-baby figure back. Blunt, who’s promoting her latest film Into the Woods, stopped by The Late Show with David Letterman on Tuesday, November 25. The 31-year-old actress wore a classy knee-length white dress with black accents as she strutted her stuff in New York City. The simple yet elegeant look was made even simpler by the lack of accessories, save for the wedding bands given to her by husband John Krasinski.

In an interview with E! News, Blunt revealed that she will be passing on her family’s tradition of reading before bed to her daughter Hazel. “She’s nine months old but she understands. She sits on me, this little thing, and she understands turning a page already and going on a journey,” Blunt said. The star added, “I just want her to have that satisfaction I had as a kid of finishing a book and the chunk of it and the weight of it and putting the book down and it’s done. You want things to be sensory for kids.”

Blunt also spilled the beans on how much her husband loved Into the Woods. “He cried. He absolutely loved it,” she said about Krasinski’s reaction. “I think he was so moved by it by what it’s saying to this generation and that idea of nobody being alone at the end. It’s such an amazing theme running through this film. Yes it’s a musical but it’s not just a spectacle. It says some really profound things like be careful what you say to children. Children will listen.”

On Sunday, November 23, Blunt joined her Into the Woods co-stars Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine, Meryl Streep, Christine Baranski, and James Corden for an event promoting film. Into the Woods is based on the musical of the same name which melds various fairytales including Cinderella and Rapunzel into one overarching story.

  • Halle Berry Believes in Aliens?

Halle Berry admits she believes in aliens!

On Monday, July 7, the 47-year-old actress appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman to discuss her latest role in the new CBS series, Extant.

Berry portrays Molly Woods, an astronaut who returns home pregnant after spending a year in outer space on a solo mission. The upcoming show, which centers around artificial intelligence and extraterrestrial life, led to the conversation to the topic of aliens.

When Letterman asked the Gothika actress about her belief in the existence of extraterrestrial life, surprisingly she admitted she believes other “species” may exist.

“I don’t believe that we are the only species in existence,” she said. “Really?” Letterman asked. “I don’t think so,” she said.

Letterman went on to ask whether or not she believed “other things” existed in the universe. Berry explained that she doesn’t believe humans and animals are the only surviving creatures on the planet.

“My ego doesn’t tell me that we are the only ones who have survived. I think it might take us 20 years to get to those other life forms but I think they are out there.”

While most fans would probably just consider her statement to be an effective way to promote the new show, this isn’t the first time Berry has spoke openly about her belief in the existence of aliens.

A couple weeks ago, Berry attended the premiere screening for the upcoming science fiction series. She also shared her perspective of aliens with the Los Angeles Times.

“I’m not so egotistical to think that we’re the only ones living in this vast, vast universe. I do think there’s other life out there.” During the premiere screening event, CBS Entertainment chairman, Nina Tassler, spoke highly of Berry, praising her transition from the big screen to primetime television.

“[‘Extant’] was a powerful and unique story, and we were instantly captivated when Academy Award-winner Halle Berry joined the project,” Tassler said. “Her enormous talent and presence elevated the series to a new stratosphere. Getting Halle Berry was one of the biggest coups of the year for television.”

Extant is scheduled to premiere Wednesday, July 9 on CBS.

  • Here’s Stephen Colbert’s First Time on Letterman

As you’ve probably heard by now, CBS has tapped Stephen Colbert to replace the outgoing David Letterman when he ends his record run as host of The Late Show. Colbert became the frontrunner for the job soon after Letterman announced his retirement, and the official announcement comes just a week later.

The news is generating mixed reviews–or at least forcing people into a difficult position. On one hand, Colbert is beloved by most (with the exception of this windbag), and we know he’s capable of taking the reins from Letterman.

On the other hand, a Colbert Late Show means buh-bye to The Colbert Report, the long-running Comedy Central show that’s followed Jon Stewart’s Daily Show for nearly a decade. Man, how I’m going to miss The Colbert Report (as are millions).

Not only that, but the end of The Colbert Report is also the end of the Stephen Colbert character he so perfectly portrayed in his satyrical look at today’s political culture. Yes, Colbert has confirmed that he won’t be doing The Late Show in character, the bombastic ultra-conservative that Colbert himself described as an “active idiot.”

Anyway, here’s a look at what you can expect. Here’s a young Colbert, nearly a decade ago, talking to Dave for the first time about his upcoming new show, among other things.

Oh yeah, and he’s out of character:

“Simply being a guest on David Letterman’s show has been a highlight of my career,” said Colbert in today’s announcement. “I never dreamed that I would follow in his footsteps, though everyone in late night follows Dave’s lead.”

  • Stephen Colbert: What Will He Bring to ‘Late Show’?

“I’m thrilled and grateful that CBS chose me. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go grind a gap in my front teeth.”

After much speculation, today the big announcement was made as to who will be replacing David Letterman on The Late Show.

On April 3, Letterman announced his 2015 retirement from the show which he had been hosting for 21 years. Just one week later, CBS announced Stephen Colbert as Letterman’s replacement on the late night talk show.

“Stephen Colbert is one of the most inventive and respected forces on television,” CBS president and CEO Leslie Moonves said in a statement. “David Letterman’s legacy and accomplishments are an incredible source of pride for all of us here, and today’s announcement speaks to our commitment of upholding what he established for CBS in late night.”

Colbert has hosted his own Comedy Central Show, The Colbert Report, since 2005 after being in the cast of The Daily Show for eight years prior.

On The Colbert Report, the 49-year old political satirist plays a “blustery right-wing pundit” whose life somewhat reflects Colbert’s own: both were raised in South Carolina, both are the youngest of 11 children. However, Colbert clearly leans toward the Democratic Party.

This left-wing lean was clearly seen during the 2006 White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner when, in his politically conservative character, he satirized the George W. Bush administration by saying, “I stand by this man. I stand by this man because he stands for things. Not only for things, he stands on things. Things like aircraft carriers and rubble and recently flooded city squares. And that sends a strong message, that no matter what happens to America, she will always rebound—with the most powerfully staged photo ops in the world.”

Though met with some confusion and criticized at first, his routine was later called a “political cultural-touchstone issue” and a “defining moment” of the 2006 midterm elections.

So what does this mean for the future of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert? Will he hold on to his famous satirical character, which he was known for keeping even in public? He says no.

“I won’t be doing the new show in character, so we’ll all get to find out how much of him was me,” Colbert told ABC. “I’m looking forward to it.”

As James Poniewozik pointed out in Time magazine, Colbert isn’t a one-trick pony.

“The guy’s got a lot of tools in his box, and his fake pundit isn’t the only thing he can do with them,” Poniewozik wrote. “Nor is politics, as anyone knows who’s watched him geek out on-air over Tolkien, or roller-dance with Bryan Cranston to ‘Get Lucky.’”

Originally, CBS hired David Letterman to do what he had already been doing so well on NBC, so hopefully that trend will continue with Colbert being himself: the geeky, intelligent, funny Colbert that he is. After all, it’s working well for Fallon on NBC’s Late Night.

The location of the new Late Show has not been determined, nor has a premiere date for the new show. In the meantime, Colbert will continue to feel thankful for the opportunity to step into some large shoes.

“Simply being a guest on David Letterman’s show has been a highlight of my career,” Colbert said. “I never dreamed that I would follow in his footsteps, though everyone in late night follows Dave’s lead.”

  • Stephen Colbert to Replace Letterman on ‘Late Show’

When David Letterman announced his retirement from the Late Show on April 3rd, rumors immediately began swirling as to who would replace the 33-year-long television icon. The first forerunners were obviously fellow late-night show hosts. However, history shows that that transition has a history of not working well (*cough* Conan O’Brien *cough cough*). Following that initial list, names like Tina Fey, John Stewart, and even Neil Patrick Harris were tossed around. Late last week, however, a unique, yet odd, choice started to rise to the top – none other than The Colbert Report‘s host, Stephen Colbert.

Today, CBS cemented the truthiness of said rumor by announcing that Stephen Colbert has signed a five-year agreement with the network to become the next host of The Late Show, ending Letterman’s 21-year run as the host.

Prior to becoming host for The Late Show, Letterman was host of NBC’s Late Night, starting in 1983. When Jay Leno was named Johnny Carson’s successor to The Tonight Show in 1993, Letterman decided to jump ship to another network after a decade at NBC.

CBS president and CEO Leslie Moonves stated, “Stephen Colbert is one of the most inventive and respected forces on television. David Letterman’s legacy and accomplishments are an incredible source of pride for all of us here, and today’s announcement speaks to our commitment of upholding what he established for CBS in late night.”

Nina Tassler, the Chairman of CBS Entertainment, would add that, “Stephen is a multi-talented and respected host, writer, producer, satirist and comedian who blazes a trail of thought-provoking conversation, humor and innovation with everything he touches. He is a presence on every stage, with interests and notable accomplishments across a wide spectrum of entertainment, politics, publishing and music. We welcome Stephen to CBS with great pride and excitement, and look forward to introducing him to our network television viewers in late night.”

CBS executives are not the only people to recognize Colbert’s multifaceted brilliance and support his ascension to host of The Late Show. Colbert’s former employer and co-worker, Jon Stewart, also had words of support to add for Colbert’s new role:

“He is a uniquely talented individual. He’s wonderful in Colbert Report, but he’s got gears he hasn’t even shown people yet. He would be remarkable… He’s done an amazing job with just that very narrow cast of character, but he’s got a lot more he can show. He’s got some skill sets that are really applicable, interviewing-wise, but also he’s a really, really good actor and also an excellent improvisational comedian. He’s also got great writing skills. He’s got a lot of the different capacities. Being able to expand upon [those] would be exciting.”

One question remains unanswered, however. Does this move to primetime, late-night, locally-televised programming mean the death of “Stephen Colbert”? Colbert is known for never dropping his conservatively satirical schtick featured on The Colbert Report – not even in public when he is not associated with the show.

While many of us are waiting to see how the character of Stephen Colbert will evolve or adapt to a bigger stage, Colbert only has intense preparation for the new role on his mind: “I’m thrilled and grateful that CBS chose me. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go grind a gap in my front teeth.”

  • David Letterman Announces He Will Retire In 2015

He is the one that has been around the longest of the current late night talk show hosts, and after many years on the air, David Letterman will finally be calling it quits with CBS in 2015.

David Letterman has had his spot on The Late Show for the past 22 years, and is set to officially announce his retirement on the episode of the show that is set to air tonight. He has been on the air as a late night talk show host longer than anyone in TV history, and just passed the record set by Johnny Carson last year.

It is truly the end of an era for late night with the exit of Letterman, and it will be interesting to see who will come in to replace him. The schedule of late night talk shows already switched around a lot in the past year with Leno leaving The Tonight Show, and being replaced by Jimmy Fallon. Seth Myers took over for Fallon in his regular time.

David Letterman made his debut on The Late Show on August 3rd, 1993, and has outlasted several other talk hosts that have come and gone on other channels and time slots. He was a recipient of the Kennedy Center Honors in 2012, being hailed as “one of the most influential personalities in the history of television, entertaining an entire generation of late-night viewers with his unconventional wit and charm.”

Les Moonves, president and CEO of CBS Corporation, spoke about the situation when saying “There is only one David Letterman. His greatness will always be remembered here, and he will certainly sit among the pantheon of this business. On a personal note, it’s been a privilege to get to know Dave and to enjoy a terrific relationship. It’s going to be tough to say goodbye. Fortunately, we won’t have to do that for another year or so. Until then, we look forward to celebrating Dave’s remarkable show and incredible talents.”

A timetable for the closing of the show has not been figured out yet, but it has been decided that it will be done sometime in 2015. He will be turning 67 years old next week, and has enjoyed great success with his show over the years.

Prior to his 22 years with The Late Show, David Letterman got his start on Mary in 1978, which co-starred Mary Tyler Moore. Just a few months later, he appeared on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson for the first time, where he would appear a total of 22 times, and become good friends with the legendary late night show.

He also hosted a couple shows before getting to the current incarnation of The Late Show, including The David Letterman Show and Late Night With David Letterman.
