  • Rosie O’Donnell Files for Divorce from Michelle Rounds

Rosie O’Donnell filed for divorce from wife Michelle Rounds on Friday. Earlier in February she announced that she and Rounds had separated back in November, and that she was leaving her spot on The View to care for her family at home.

A rep for Rosie O’Donnell followed up that announcement with a written statement.

“I can confirm that Rosie and her wife Michelle split in November,” the statement read.

“Rosie has teens and an infant at home that need her attention,” her rep added. “This has been a very stressful situation. She is putting her personal health and family first.”

Rosie O’Donnell and Michelle Rounds started dating in 2011 and wed in a quiet ceremony in June of 2012. O’Donnell was already the mother of four children at the time. She and Michelle Rounds went on to adopt a daughter together. They will share custody of Dakota, who is now two years old.

Rosie O’Donnell filed divorce papers in Manhattan. The court documents state that her marriage to Michelle Rounds was “an irretrievably broken relationship.”

A prenuptial agreement was filed prior to the couple tying the knot.

In addition to her recent spot on The View, Rosie O’Donnell has a guest role ABC Family’s hit show The Fosters. She plays Rita Hendricks, a “tough yet compassionate foster care group home caregiver” in the series.

Hopefully divorce proceedings go along smoothly for Rosie O’Donnell and Michelle Rounds–most especially for the sake of all the children involved. It’s sad to see any marriage end. Children are often the unspoken casualties in any relationship’s demise.

  • Rosie O’Donnell: Leaving ‘The View,’ Marriage With Michelle Rounds Over

Rosie O’Donnell is going through a very troubling time. Not only is she leaving The View, it has also come to light that she is doing so to concentrate on her family life, as she and wife Michelle Rounds are over. She and Rounds reportedly split up in November, and Rosie is concerned about her children.

Cindi Berger serves as the rep for Rosie O’Donnell. She issued the following statement about her personal life and departure from The View.

“I can confirm that Rosie and her wife Michelle split in November. Rosie has teens and an infant at home that need her attention. This has been a very stressful situation. She is putting her personal health and family first. ABC has been wonderfully understanding and supportive of her personal decision to leave The View. Next week will be her last.”

Michelle Rounds and Rosie O’Donnell got married in June of 2012. The couple adopted a baby girl they named Dakota. Rosie has four older children.

O’Donnell returned to The View this past fall. There was rumored friction behind the scenes, no doubt due in part to her first exit from the show back in 2007.

ABC also issued a statement confirming Rosie O’Donnell’s upcoming departure from The View.

“Rosie is an immensely talented star who comes in each and every morning brimming with ideas, excitement and passion for the show. When she told us she wanted to exit The View, we respected and understood her desire to put her well-being and her family first. We’re delighted she’s still part of the ABC family with upcoming guest appearances on The Fosters, and we know she’ll return to The View often with her unique point of view and updates on her work and her family.”

Rosie O’Donnell is debuting an HBO special on February 14th about the near-fatal heart attack she suffered in 2012. The show is called A Heartfelt Stand Up.

Are you more surprised to learn that Rosie O’Donnell is leaving The View or that she and Michelle Rounds have split up?

  • Teri Polo, ‘The Fosters’ Star, Files Bankruptcy

Teri Polo, best known for her role as Ben Stiller’s wife on Meet the Parents, has reportedly filed for bankruptcy.

According to federal court documents, 44-year-old Polo filled for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on April 14. She has a serious amount of debt, totaling nearly $1 million.

In the documents, Polo reveals that she owes an estimated $772,000 to the IRS and approximately $36,000 to credit card companies.

Polo, who is currently starring in the ABC Family original series The Fosters, is also being sued by her former landlord Ed McPherson, a celebrity lawyer, for $30,000.

McPherson claims that Polo moved out of her Los Angeles apartment, where she was paying $7,000 per month rent, and left the apartment in deplorable condition. She later reprised her role in 2004 in Meet the Fockers, and then again in 2010 in Little Fockers. She has also appeared on several television shows including The West Wing, Castle, Criminal Minds, and Law and Order.

  • Jennifer Lopez Honored With The Top GLAAD Award

During last night’s presentation of the 2014 GLAAD Awards, Jennifer Lopez was among the honorees. It marks the 25th year that the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation Media Awards have taken place, and they were held at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.

In addition to Jennifer Lopez, actress Laverne Cox from Orange Is The New Black was honored, and she is someone who has been very outspoken about her life as a transgender woman, and wanting others to feel open and comfortable with their body.

The award was presented to her by Ellen Page, who was also making her first public appearance since coming out on Valnetine’s Day, and she discussed how one of the best things about it was being able to publicly show support for those people who give her courage.

Jennifer Lopez was presented with the top prize, the Vanguard Award, which celebrates the efforts to increase visibility and understanding of the gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender community. She was supported by her boyfriend Casper Smart at the event.

While not a lesbian herself, Lopez was honored for the work that she does publicly, as well as her involvement with the new show The Fosters. The award was presented to her by Rita Moreno, who mentioned that “It’s ironic that Jennifer Lopez has been so successful as a judge on ‘American Idol’ because the woman in real life does not judge.”

In her acceptance speech, she described her Tia Marisa, who was gay, and one of the driving forces for convincing the 44-year-old singer and actress to become a part of the series, and show such care for the gay and lesbian community.

Speaking on her aunt, and her involvement with the show, she said “I also realized the lessons I’ve learned from my family about love, tolerance, and acceptance. We loved her… So I wanted to do this because I thought that she would be so proud of me. I thought about that a lot when I was doing this and as I do it now. I think, ‘She would love this.”

Jennifer Lopez was a bit hesitant to work on the show due to its subject matter, but she is glad that she decided to go through with it, thanks to the impact that it is having. The Fosters is a series that focuses on a lesbian couple raising their two twins, and foster children. She serves as an executive producer on the ABC series, which also won an award for outstanding drama series.

  • Jennifer Lopez Among 2014 GLAAD Honorees

Jennifer Lopez was honored at the 2014 GLAAD Awards this weekend at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. The 25th annual Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation Media Awards was dubbed ‘GLAAD 2.0’ by CEO Kate Ellis.

“It’s a whole new world for us,” she said.

Ellen Page made her first public remarks since coming out while she presented the Stephen F. Kolzak award to Laverne Cox from Orange is the New Black.

“One of the best things about it was the way it enabled me to publicly show support for the people who inspire me and give me courage,” Page said.

Cox, who also received a GLAAD Media Award back in 2009 for starring in VH1’s I Want to Work for Diddy, shared what she has in common with Lopez, who previously was in a relationship with Diddy.

“I’d like to think about after doing that show that Jennifer Lopez and I both have some memories with Diddy that we’re trying to forget,” she said.

Host Ross Matthews expressed his admiration for Jennifer Lopez, saying, “Honey, I’m gay but there’s always room for J. Lo,” said Matthews. “I love you Mami.”

Rita Moreno presented the Vanguard Award to Jennifer Lopez, and remarked about Lopez’s acceptance of the first openly gay contestant on American Idol.

“It’s ironic that Jennifer Lopez has been so successful as a judge on American Idol because the woman in real life does not judge,” Moreno said.

Lopez admitted she experienced a bit of trepidation about working on The Fosters, which focuses on a lesbian couple raising their two twins as well as some foster children.

“I asked myself, do I do this or do I not do this,” said Lopez. “I’m not going to lie to you. Being in the media, being in the public eye is a bitch sometimes and sometimes you don’t feel like getting beat up that day.”

Jennifer Lopez serves as executive director of The Fosters, which is set to air for its second season on the ABC Family network starting in June.

Kudos to J. Lo for receiving the GLAAD honor, but even more importantly for being the kind of loving and accepting person that she so clearly is. The world could use more people like her.
